Id prefer Walker named FF and McStay named FB, but guess we'll see Saturday...
Happened regularly last year as well. Can't understand this one either.
But we didn’t.Gotta give em a go like we did to Freeman last year.
Ding DongWould appear Tom is not really a whipping boy as the coaching staff seem to have same observations as "us" glass half empty, over the top critics!!!
Can't wait for the Dee's supporters to start screaming, "Don't touch Him".Mathieson and Christensen in the forward line getting us high frees. Yes please
Such a confusing inclusion Bewick is! Apparently Cuts had a great game last week in the NEAFL practice match so maybe it's something other than form keeping him out of the side? Because I think most of us would agree he's much more talented than Bewick.Wow, did not pick this.
IN: Bewick, Cox, Mathieson
OUT: Rich; Robinson and Bell
What does this mean for Cutler?
Walker at Full Back and McStay at Full Forward is stupid on paper, but part of Fagan’s coaching master plan. When they run out. McStay will go back and Walker will play Full Forward! Fagan will then scream at the Melbourne Coaching Box, “Sucked In! Gotcha a bewdy,” because Melbourne would have been terrified at the prospect of McStay, who has kicked 5 goals in over two years being named at Full Forward on paper. They would have probably have thrown their whole game plan away and stared again.Id prefer Walker named FF and McStay named FB, but guess we'll see Saturday...
Bewick played well too for what it's worth. Didn't see the game but afl.com.au said he was more selfless than the youngsters and set up plenty.Such a confusing inclusion Bewick is! If you listen to last week's Roar Deal podcast, Fagan mentioned they' like Cutler to work on certain parts of his game. Had a good game vs Aspley so they hope he can consistently demonstrate that then they'l bring him into the team.Such a confusing inclusion Bewick is! Cutler has not met the requirements in the defensive and contested ball areas.Cutler well what's he done ? Not a coach favourite just at the moment. Surprised too see Bewick get a go , cox and the best will add a bit to the team
Will be interesting
Cox probably got in as a result of the trauma from turnovers last week.!Bewick is frustratingly inconsistent but has shown he can play at AFL level. I expect him to have a really good game on the weekend as he is OOC and he'll treat every senior game as his last chance to prove to the coaches he deserves another shot. Unlikely he'll maintain any form on a consistent basis though although I'd love to see it. Happy the Beast is back, I'd rather get games into him than Bell. Cedric Cox a surprise addition but has obviously performed well in the pre season games. The coaches seem really keen to pump games into him so I'd imagine he is rated fairly highly internally probably due to his strength's being his foot skills and pace which suit Fagan's game style nicely.

... and McStay’s return as a forward was 1 goal and 1 behind. McStay has kicked 5 goals since the start of 2016, while Walker has kicked 33 over the same period. Fagan has got this one very wrong.Happened regularly last year as well.
That's a pretty deceptive stat to roll out given McStay has played predominantly back during that time and I'm sure you know it. Why not use the goal a game McStay averaged the year prior to moving back? FWIW I agree with the sentiment - McStay is better off down back, but a) I don't think it's as clear cut, and b) holding how many goals a KPD has kicked against him when he actually spent over a year up forward is disingenuous.... and McStay’s return as a forward was 1 goal and 1 behind. I get what you are saying dlanod and mean no disrespect to McStay, but during that period he has also had numerous forays forward for significant periods in games for little or no return. When was the last time he played forward and kicked 3 or 4 goals, because that is what we need a Key Position Forward to do week in and week out. There is a saying in sport that you are only as good as your last game, well all I am saying is let’s look at the last two seasons, during which he had been tried as a forward plenty of times, the most recent being last weekend. I actually really like McStay and see him as a fantastic spoiling and running defender in the mould of Laurie Serafini. I would like to see him selected as a defender every week. In defence he and Andrews are my first two picked. I just don’t think he is being played in the right position if he is played forward. That's a pretty deceptive stat to roll out given McStay has played predominantly back during that time and I'm sure you know it. See my earlier post. It has to be part of Fagan’s cunning plan. Also not the least bit wound up. This is a respectful and interesting footy conversation. If someone was having this chat on TV sitting in a couch nobody would bat an eyelid.Getting wound up about where players are named on paper? Meh. See where they line up on the day.
