the workrate!!! **** me with both barrels that was sexy. How many times did a rogue kick go wide and we saw 4 port players arrive at the ball with 1 crow player jogging towards it like they were in mud. If the crows run like that every week they won’t win a single game this season.

Dixon - underrated. Yeah would have loved more marks early and to run more but he was staying close to goals (not up on wing like I hated in past) and he was drawing defenders. Marshall took some possessions through great positioning but also because half of Adelaides team was engaged with Dixon. He legit looked like Neo in the scene with all the agent smiths on top of him at some points.
ebert - **** yeah. Body looked done the last couple of years but looks much better. I’ve wanted kids to get games over him but as long as he plays like that he’s good. Not so much a forward target but a quasi- mid playing in the forward half.
gray - doesn’t seem like the most important player but so many times he turns a 50/50 contest into a clean possession and keeps the ball moving for us.
Jonas - solid normal regular Jonas.
clurey - couple of poor kicks early. Costs some goals but his bodywork in marking contests is so good.
McKenzie - lol. We keep waiting for him to be outmatched but he’s found one of the infinity stones in the off-season. Took a defensive mark last night that was unreal. Wish he used the super boot more but defensively been very good. Hope it continues because McKenzie of 2 first games versus what we expected of him is probably the difference in our season.
westhoff - pretty good. Such an icing on the cake player. He’s always at his best when we are not relying on him and he will pop up and hurt teams. Dixon + Marshall playing well is the perfect situation for westhoff.
DBJ - I think he’s future captain or vice captain material. The most port player we have. He’s more a defensive mid than a strict defender these days. Irreplaceable in our team. Workrate is phenomenal. Plays at 110% intensity. Give him the coaches award today.
Hartlett - such a rock. Dbj and Hartlett are the heart of our team to be honest. Both fly the flag, and go into contests hard. Didn’t really stand out last night but very good. Love how he got into flogarty last night. Works hard from defense to receive hand passes and use that boot.
bonner - shaky start but worked into and got better as game went on. At Qtr time I wanted him dropped next week but changed my mind pretty quickly.
boak - pure boak. Didn’t notice him too much. Know what he’s going to give. Still a captain at heart.
Motlop - lol how good. I hated that Hinkley tried to turn him into a centre mid. He’s just too fast out there and clearly had extra gears. I reckon he will have a very good year and kick 30+ goals.
Rockliff - standard rocky. Lots of good little handballs, gets kicks forward, sometimes they work sometimes not. Important big body at the stoppages for us right now. Had to laugh when he was talking to fatty flogarty that he was only maybe 2 cms shorter than the crows key forward lol.
burton - regular burton. Safe player.
Houston - couple of average moments couple of very good moments. Not the Houston I was hoping we would see but his defensive work in the middle is underrated.
Amon - nothing like the player so many on this board hated in the past. I was very vocal in my support For him but I didn’t see him becoming this guy. Literally looks like port rubbed off on him. He went into a couple of contests blindly last night that would have made Fos proud. Isn’t a star by any means but love his running and kicking and effort at contest improved out of this world.
spp- **** the haters. Everyone who reckons his disposal is shit should watch last night. Had one blaze away attempt but had some great pinpoint kicks Burgoyne would have been proud of. Steadying in the middle of his rollicking runs is the issue and he showed he can do that. They keep saying he is playing forward but he’s basically a mid that plays in the forward half.
butters - becoming an elite player. Such skill combined with effort workrate and aggression is amazing. That goal was freakish but if you watch the replay and look at his balance and timing of bodywork to make contact he did great things before that freak kick. He’s a genuine star in the making. Infectious personality.
rozee - 8 clearances in 20% less game time than a standard game and he’s 20 yrs old and miles away from being ready physically. He had a hand in 3/4 of our first goals from memory. Best kick in the side. Maybe one of the best in the league. Firestarter. Then goes and gets a smother and gives the player shit about it. Physical specimen but has the desire, smarts and skills. Full package. He will be ports first Brownlow winner.
Marshall - him and rozee were the best players when we established ourselves in this game. A massive I told you so to the doubters. People questioning whether he is a key forward. People saying he isn’t a good contested mark. Our best key forward last night and did some special things. That kick inside 50 last night. he’s one of the best field kicks in our team, one of the best field kicking kpps in the league. That mark should have been paid last night it was a beauty. Still only 21 and 22 games. Only going to get better. Probably the key to our season. If he fires like that we win. He’s also going to prolong Dixon’s career. No need to run Dixon into the ground anymore.
lycett- good game. Won his position against the only crow who could remotely hold his head up last night. I highlighted one stage where lycett contested the centre tap, then had 2/3 more efforts at the ground ball in the following contest while rob was slowly jogging over. Big effort kind of player. I don’t know how ladhams gets games this year.
Duursma- crazy good. Such a fast hard running infectious personality. Skills last night were a highlight from a guy running at light speed. You could almost forgive a guy for having jelly legs after running a marathon at Usain bolt speeds but that finish at goal was great. Probably one of the best wingmen in the league around his age. The fact that rozee butters duursma are so good already at 20 and already such key parts of our team is shocking. Not just looking like ports best draft, it’s a contender for best draft in afl history. Right now I wouldn’t rule out any of them from making an all-Aus team this season.
