"Wholesale changes". That would be fine if you had anything in the cupboard, but they don't.

Hopefully they bring Gibbs, Mackay and Hartigan back.

It’s been said before but Duursma is a future captain. He speaks so well for a football player his age and he holds a lot of pride in the club.

Just wait a few years for his physical prime and he will be in elite territory
Yeah well let’s not go the future captain route. Ollie was considered future capatain by all and sundry and look how that turned out.

Our link up play is every bit as good as it was in 2014, if not better. We’ve steadily built a highly skilled side capable of actually transitioning the ball from one end of the ground to the other, and quickly.

does anyone have the comparison of age and games played between us and the crows? Would be interesting to see

That was a good win. The opposition was 10 kicks inferior and we beat them by 13 - good win.

To watch the team play in our traditional guernsey and to hit the ball and the man with the ball with such viciousness was fantastic! They ran and ran and ran and just like the real good Port sides, their field kicking was excellent. People will always associate vicious, no mercy attack on ball and body with Port Adelaide but one thing that seems to be overlooked is the ball skills that complement the ruthless nature of attack on leather and body.

We were not flat footed at all last night and didn't wait for things to happen; we made it happen and don't worry about what the opposition coach is saying about his mob playing bruise free footy, the scum wasn't good enough to get anywhere near us and if he wants to see bruises, he should have a look at his player's bodies.

Young Butters has really come on and he was good last night and he will become even better as he gains more experience and realises when to bump and when to tackle. The lad really tried to hurt the opposition with his bumping but there were three or four occasions when it was far more appropriate to tackle and stop the ball getting out then bashing the opponent. He has eradicated the cute shit from his game and that is really good.

The oil panting Clurey along with McKenzie and Burton were solid and the last two are wonderful kicks. Bonner is hitting the contest a bit harder and hopefully, he continues to grow in confidence and hits the ball and body harder still.

Darcy Byrne-Jones, after the first 10 or so minutes of scratchy football, was exceptional again! His hands were great again and he plays in front, is fearless and doesn't give the ball away - a very, very good player in his position.

Karlo Amon is one of the first players on the team sheet now and has made that wing position his. He realised last year that he is good enough to play at this standard and now plays without any doubts. Very good.

Duursma was good and as he gets older and his body matures, he will become a more consistent four quarter performer. Goal kicking wingmen are very valuable and this lad will be around for a very long time. The same goes for Connor Rozee, that is, as he gets older and his body matures, he will be a four quarter footballer and that will be something to behold. He is as naturally gifted a player as I've ever seen. The last one was Gavin Wanganeen.

Powell-Pepper is maturing rapidly and is an animal and he is worth his weight in gold. His tackiling, second and third efforts are fantastic and he has got a ripper of a kick on him and we saw glimpses of that last night. He is another who is now starting to play without the burden of the world on his shoulders, just like Amon. Very tough, very committed and a real enforcer who scares the shit out of the opposition.

Motlop played with freedom and commitment and he is wonderfully skilled. If he can maintain this consistency and keep running hard, he's a match winner.

Brad Ebert is moving very freely and he is a very valuable member of the team. His flexibility in where he can play is priceless as is the funny old fellow Westhoff. Westhoff's nous and skills are fantastic and he's become a very consistent performer and on this evidence, he can play for a few more years yet in the ruck, center half forward, full forward, follower, wingman, back pocket, center half back, full back.

It wasn't Dixon's conditions last night but he competed pretty well and got better as the night wore on, kicked a couple and in dryer conditions when he can mark more often than not, he's a monster and if the ball happens to hit the deck because of his competitiveness, Powell-Pepper smashes and crashes in and this creates havoc and scoring opportunities.

Dan Houston was a bit quiet but he certainly was not a passanger. He is a very, very gifted footballer and will also be around for a very long time.

Todd Marshall was for mine, BOG for a fantastic four quarter performance. He is another of those naturals we have in our side and will be raved about in years to come and Scotty Lycett, what a magnificent warrior he was last night! His performance didn't gain the kudos I reckon it deserves but then again, for such an overall top team performance, that may be understandable. He hit every contest hard and played a good, old fashioned big man's game under those conditions - get it, kick it forward. His second efforts were superb.

Travis Boak is loving life free from the encumbrances of captaincy and boy, what a fantastic, hard running team player he is and deserving of the medal for his performance last night.

Robbie Gray was alright given that he was hindered by that toe injury and toe injuries are bastards! certainly not a passenger.

Hartlett was as professional and hard as ever and Rockliff is a vital cog in the Port machine. He gets to contest after contest, has a very wide field of vision and very quick hand-eye coordination, knows what's going on around him, real good hands and finds the footy with monotonous regularity. To have a player like that around the ball is a massive bonus for all the other players which he brings into play. He too is moving very freely and covers enormous territory and his contribution must never be underrated nor under valued.

A good performance all 'round.

I don’t think you can take much away from this round in general.

Teams have come back at very different fitness levels. the results don’t surprise me, there was always going to be an upset or two.

Ports concern is that they haven’t really played anyone of note yet And still a few weeks away from that.... the Suns, Crows and Freo are not good teams. Brisbane is a 50-50. West Coast will get better.

although Port looked really good last night, not getting overly excited yet.
Yeah but 3 or 4 wins early and it goes a long way towards making finals in a short season!

According to the commentators the Crows team were all in nappies and we are the third oldest list...doesn’t sound right
