hang on hang on a second, you comfortable to play Garcia but apparently Hotton's hype is way over the top. Even though Hotton has spent half a year playing vfl and Garcia has only played like half a practice match in which is had what 8/9 disposals...

Garcia has better preseason form.

Any depth is tested when you have 5 players out or underdone all of a similar ilk.
Crouch Clarke Dow Sincs Butler with underdone Windy Pou Jones and no Webster Paton. That means shifting magnets around 3 played who probably wouldn't have if we had the others available.

Put the first 5 above in and we have a very different looking side. Over 500 games of experience instead of 50 then playing at Geelong...maybe was always a bridge too far.

Similar issue Thursday night Magpies 3rd game will be feral to get a win and have had plenty of time to get match fit and we are off a 5 day break.

If we are good enough and they are very vulnerable as it is just not working for them at the moment hopefully that stays another week.

Their forward set up is shit and that helps us but it is whether we can catch them on the rebound like GWS will be the issue.

Don't care if we win or not, this is the premiers on their home deck after all.

What I would like to see fixed from last week - we were incredibly flat footed and reactive at stoppages / centre bounces in particular whereas Geelong were constantly taking lines running through stoppage (Danger in particular).

Been said a million times but need to play Mii-chan in the middle starting a few metres back from stoppage as much as possible and just going through like a freight train.

Think Sgt. Red said it best

Yep because Garcia has already shown more than Hotton imo

Gee this is a big game.

A chance to go 1-1 from a tough opening fortnight.

A chance to send the Pies to 0-3.

Really hope we're up for it. A victory would be so sweet.

Sincs back will be huge and gives us some more midfield flexibility.

I reckon Seb as sub might give us a bit more flexibility too.

In: Sincs
Out: Collard (Seb sub)

Glad to hear Stocker should be ok.

So by your theory Allison should be in front of Garcia also because he has played for 3 seasons at Sandy

Ahhh, the Allison gambit.

Keep fishing Frisky

Maybe that would work , I could cast him towards the ball instead of him going the opposite direction

PS , just read he hurt his knee and is out for 8 weeks , that's not going to help him much missing that much footy

So Higgins averages around 5.5 score involvements per game. Watching the goal highlights from Saturday night, he was more involved than it seemed. He had 9 score involvements on Saturday. It's an overreaction. Add Higgins being selected to your grieving process.
Exactly. The calls for him to be dropped were very reactionary.

His goal kicking inaccuracy is frustrating but it's better that he's getting the shots than not troubling the scoreboard at all. As long as he keeps working at it (and he does), it will eventually turn.

With Higgins I have this thing where if he misses his first set shot I just resign myself to "he’s going to have a poor night in front of goal".

It’s probably not even factual or based in reality but I just feel that way.

Membrey on the other hand looked razor sharp.

Purely thinking out loud, but I wonder if this is at all to do with Ro not generally being an “on a platter” tap ruck so our mids aren’t going 110% in one direction for the hit. It’s no criticism of anyone. That said, I’m keen to see Dow in there and maybe he might bring some of that point of difference for us.

Ro's hit outs seemed to be down the throat of the Geelong players, but then again, all our mids were playing behind their man as per usual and it's hard to get clean take if someone is between you and the ball. I would bring big Tom in for the next match, and park Ro in the forward half for a bit.

Miichan sounds a little bit girly to me.
Micchan みっちゃん or Michikun みちくん have a little bit more of a boyish feel I reckon.

I agree though, keep him away from the sticks if Higgins is in the team. Too much momentum death with 2 poor set shots for goal. It was a risky option, but I wish he'd found a way to get that set shot over to Collard who was all on his own. Even if it wasn't perfect, Collard would have found a way I reckon. Could have really lit us up.

Good to see that Sinclair, Butler and Stocker should be available for selection this week - even though Butler will likely come back via the VFL.

Despite never really looking likely, an eight-week knee injury to Matt Allison probably puts the stamps on his career (even though they would have probably stamped them earlier than that).

Howard, Hayes, Dow and Clark should be back within the next month. Just need to be competitive until after Gather Round. Having availability will help us immensely.
