That doesn't sum him up, it gives a fair assessment of his absolute best. How was his tag the week after on Steele?
Steele does that to every side to be fair. I don't want Banfield in the side though, would rather let Erasmus get some runs on the board.

My thoughts on Henry, Meek and Walters:

I think we should give Henry a few more runs at it before he is dropped to Peel, we have made the commitment to him.

I also wouldn't mind giving Meek one more round which would be good for his development and allow Darcy to be 100% coming into the derby. Weather is also an unknown and should play a factor in Meek's selection.

Walters should have the next few games to prove he is b22.

Therefore my selections would be:
Banfield > Colyer/Erasmus
Cox > Walker (if fit)

I think we need to adapt our defence to the faster style of games and would therefore experiment with selection.

More recently.

The game on the weekend when, free in the forward 50, he turns around and into an Adelaide player, instead of continuing straight and being able to deliver to a free player over the top.

Why... Just... 🤦‍♂️
iirc it was so he could kick on his left which also speaks volumes.

Lots of Walker talk to come and take the small forwards, now I haven’t got to watch him live yet but he seemed to be more of a running back rather than a lockdown back. Does he have the ability to do both? If so he’s going to be an amazing player.

I agree. To me he looks like someone we play the same way we play Clark and Wilson. Be near the opposition and chase, but your primary value to the team is bursting forward.

I'm going to regret saying this, but I reckon he can do both.

Running back / wing seemed to suit him really well but I imagine he would defend well if given the task
Plays much like Clark does
Loves to put on the jets and eat up space

The dream is for Clark to eventually move to the wing and Walker to take his place at back.

Membrey is a unit and good at overhead marking at the highest point. Logue might struggle, a good game by him would go a long way to a win.

Logue was saying on radio this morning that he's played on Membry before and thinks that might be his match up this week. Ryan could do the job there as well.

I'm pretty vague about what happened against St Kilda last time, even though it was the last AFL H & A game we played before the Adelaide game. Cooper Sharman 4 goals.

Max King didn't play, though has only played against us once before in 2020, but he did kick 6 against WC at Optus last year.

I thought Chapman was.

We really need to win games.

Do you think your decisions give us the best chance to beat the Saints?

I think structurally we are better with 2 tall backs with Ryan taking the third & with Chapman, Young, Clark & one of Aish or Walker on the bench.

I think the 3 talls is completely unnecessary as Ryan has the leap & strength to take the 3rd tall & dominate on the ground against them.

It also gives us greater flexibility with Aish who can play back, inside & outside mid & Walker who plays back but allows Clark to move up the ground if required.

It’s not like Chappy is a midget either & if one of the key tall defenders go down he can come in & take one.

They can all kick a goal, that’s setting the bar pretty low. Nothing wrong with Banfield playing a run with role. But you could insert Crowden’s name in this discussion.
I don’t see a finals team. Or even a GF team with such low production in front of goal.
Unless we go back to the manic pressure and restricting the oppositions scoring and it still only got us 1 GF appearance.
Games changed, so we have to create score board pressure, and that includes accuracy.
I have said this a few times last season

As it stands, freo are a medium scoring side.

That means on a good day, and i use that term loosely, freo will kick between 11 to 14 goals on a good day.

Freo kicked 11.17.83 vs the crows on the weekend and won. Should of easily kicked 3-4 more goals to be honest.

Last year freo beat the crows in Adelaide oval scoring 12.12.84. again , Freo could of kicked 3-4 goals again.

Would love a 2012-3 Chris Mayne in this squad or a 2019 Michael Walters that kicked 40 goals and 17 behinds that got All Australian.,....
