There were a lot of ways we could have gone at selection this week and this is definitely one of them.

Hanners was a no-brainer as we need to get games into him and we could do with his leadership/experience in a big way.

Wonder if we really need Campbell now that Reeves is out?

With Hanners to presumably play a fair bit of wing I wonder if Lienert goes back to defence and Sincs plays more on ball? I would love to see him in there more.

I think its your memory that's cooked.
He hasn't really played badly at all, its always been the injuries.

You cherry picked the only game he played for the Saints without a tackle.

The last game he played for us was Fremantle last year.
10 contested possessions, 6 clearances , and just for you, a tackle.
Actually somebody else pointed out he was best on ground that day. I was surprised so I looked it up, not surprised he didn't lay a tackle though. Dreadful for a bloke that can only play mid.

Hanners was on the serious decline his last year at Swans. Has not played good footy in 5 years. That is an eternity.

The few times he has got on the park he had been okay. Not saying terrible, but a long long way from good. If he somehow manages to finish out a game, there is nothing to really suggest he is likely to perform better than an Owens.

He is a limited footballer, an undersized mid that can't kick goals or defend. That's fine if you a complete ball pig, which he was. Unfortunatley those days are long gone.

Actually looking at that team we’ve got

Wilkie
Battle
Sharman
Paton
Hill
Sincs
Clark
Webster
Lienert

So that’s 9 who could play down back.

They’re obviously not all going to play predominantly down there, so it will be interesting to see who plays elsewhere.

Sincs midfield?
Hill forward/wing?
Clark midfield?
Lienert wing?

Hannebery straight into the starting line up, our team looks better with his name on the team sheet, hopefully he can get through the game unscathed.

Not surprised to see Byrnes dropped, I thought he worked hard against West Coast but his disposal skills still aren't up to AFL level standard.

Don't love the Campbell inclusion but.i guess it's horses for courses with their rucks. Still think we'd be better off to go Marshall one out and back him in.

Devastated for Gresh. Five month rehab so joins full training in the new year. Poor fella, he has worked so hard.

Reeves is out injured so the Hawks only have one ruckman in McEvoy, that could see Campbell being a late withdrawal and replaced with another mid.

I still like the idea of Campbell and Marshall rotating in the ruck and up forward though to help take some of the defensive heat off King who got swamped against West Coast with no other tall marking target.

With Reeves out maybe we'll late change Campbell?

Huh? Why?

Hanners has been truly bizarre, from the contract offer when he was clearly cooked to 4-5 years on claiming this. Isnt it time to move on?

Not trolling. I just genuinely dont understand the deal with him or how anyone could defend this inclusion.

I wouldn’t have played him but he has always done well when played and we lack leaders.

Campbell is a surprise but we must be worried about their Rucks. Or are we concerned about being too small up forward?

Hanners replaces Byrnes on the wing. Presume Byrnes will be the sub.

Long deserves to come into the best 22 off the back of his sub performances.

Overall the selections are good even if Campbell is a surprise.

100% its time to move on
coming in with 2 tackles in 2 weeks at Sandy seems a desperate move imo

Would owens be sub?

High profile skilful player who has rarely played since he arrived due to injuries.

Currently not injured.

Would’ve thought it’s more difficult to defend not selecting him.
