I’ve already said I would have played owens but it hasn’t happened so I want hanners to do well. Even if he doesn’t it won’t matter to owens in the long run.
its not about Owens future I think he was a better option then Hanners for this week .
To big of a risk for a bloke that has played 60 minutes and 80 minutes of VFL footy for the year
We all hope he kills it but if he breaks down after being rushed in it will be a disaster for the club

There's a chance Owens could be the medi sub and with our luck with injuries he could end up playing close to a full game anyway.

He may even end up replacing Hannebery but I'm hoping he can make it through a full game, if he breaks down again that is definitely career over.

The inclusion of Hannebery at least generates a bit more interest in an end of year game. Doubt it affects the attendance but a few more will switch on the tv to watch.

Hope he goes well and what is prob his last few games for us are good ones.

Not his fault that we took a gamble on his body by giving him a big contract and he does seem to have tried his best to get his body right.

Owens had one less possession but 2 goals, 5 tackles in that last match. Bytel the week before actually looked better IMO. He was one of the best mids two weeks in a row. I thought Hanners was alright but people were talking him up like he starred. He did just enough IMO.
They might not have wanted to bring him back after 1 game in 6 weeks. That's very understandable.

Hanners did do just enough but that was still more than the others.

Again agree but I will just try and be positive even though I’m not happy with the side. Don’t like either ins and hate gresh out.

I think it was mentioned that we have been crying out for vocal leaders, I believe Hanners brings this.
Isn’t that what we said four years ago when we got him to the club ? and in that time nothing has changed then that’s an indictment on club - coaches and players that it hasn’t improved in four years

King picked at CHF. I hope that they actually play him there as he to me looks better up the ground moving around, than when he plays deep outnumbered where subtle body contact limits his effectiveness.

King in a few years with more core strength will be a beast, but right now when he moves little opposition coaches with outnumbers know how to limit his marking. If two then follow King up the ground to CHF we should have someone deep as a good option.

I think most of our selections this year have made complete sense. I don’t agree with this one but it doesn’t make all the other mainly wrong.
Not necessarily talking about this year. More the last 3 or 4. We've actually blooded kids this year instead of playing guys that will never make it.

Huh? Why?

Hanners has been truly bizarre, from the contract offer when he was clearly cooked to 4-5 years on claiming this. Isnt it time to move on?

Not trolling. I just genuinely dont understand the deal with him or how anyone could defend this inclusion.
Why? The main reason is in case we make the finals. He was a big part of the reason we won our last final (most disposals on the ground in the first half and team-high for us by the end) and his firm in the VFL suggests that he’s still going as well as he has when he’s come in for us previously and he’s generally gone well for us when he’s actually played.

It’s especially important to get him in now that we’ve lost Gresham and Jones from our midfield and without doubt we badly need more leadership and experience out there and they absolutely rave about his voice out on the track or field and how he’s instructing everyone and so-on. He’s like an on-field coach out there.

He’s taken Byrnes spot and his kicking isn’t AFL standard, whereas Hannas is one of the most reliable by foot in our team.

I don't agree
2 games this year at Sandy 60 minutes then 80 minutes just seems wrong imo

Just saying what Roo & Joey said on 360 they thought Owens was a better option

For me, it's about how he can deliver a ball and his decision making. It's what we're sorely lacking. Owens can't deliver that like Hanners. Completely different type of player.

In: Hannebery, Long, Campbell
Out: Billings (inj), Gresham (inj), Lienert (omitted)

Owens to come in as medi-sub.

Seems I was pretty on the money here except with Byrnes being omitted instead of Lienert.

It’s baffling. If he is carrying something they should rest him. Or take lienert out for Campbell if they want that much ruck support.
Hope he’s not another casualty of that shocking ground last week, that they’re keeping “shtum” (quiet) about.

Another one for you Joffaboy.

Obviously saints don’t know hawks team when they select side,
Maybe the Campbell in was so Marshall wasn’t 1v2
But now Reeves out maybe we will change him for another mid?
