Long way to go and a lot can happen, but for the first time this year I genuinely think we can pinch a flag. Love the new look outfit with Miles, Worps etc; Burton is finding that golden 2017 form; Bruest in career-best form etc. Just seems we are hitting our straps at the right time and becoming more consistent for 4 quarters.
Add in Sis and it gets exciting; Oh to have Cyril out there too. Wouldn't you love to hear that he has the sniff of the sherrin back.

This is an opportunity for Miles to stake his claim in the best 22 if he can keep playing well with a host of players coming back from injury next week. He hasn't put a foot wrong since coming into the team about six weeks ago. I don't think anyone would've predicted him to play as well as he has after being just a depth player the last four years.
At one point he moved beautifully in very heavy traffic last week, was a delight to watch.

he has played 2-3 games, but from what ive seen of him he looks really good for the saints, probably their best prospect behind Gresham and Billings.... from my pov (IF he can stay healthy, he is a bit injury plagued)

Explosive player but I feel they're not a fan of his defensive efforts. Gets 30+ touches but barely lays a tackle even though he's in the contest a lot of the time, reckon he's like O'Rourke and just doesn't have the faith in his hammies if he exerts himself.

Must win by at least 10 goals if we are to be any threat in finals. The Saints are absolutely woeful, but if they’re at their best and we don’t show up, we know what can happen.

Chance for top 4 if we belt them and then beat the Syds on their own turf.

Yet respective teams are happy to make allowances for Saad and Houli and that is welcomed. Hypocrisy much?

(Not aimed directly at you just in general KS)

Houli and Saad still train and play during Ramadan - so not sure what allowances you're referring to?

An some Jews play on Saturday, and some Baptists have played on Sunday, and some lefties have been known to handball with their right hand, and some gingers... Well, there's no excuse for gingers.

I really despise identity politics and social blight it has created. It focuses on what divides us instead of what unites us. It's the realm of the small-minded and intellectually vacuous, like those that run AFL house.

The AFL's death wish of jumping on board with social justice will be ruination of the institution, just as the biggest drag on these boards in the narcissistic indulgence in raging and judgmentalism.

And yet despite all the frothing and keyboard warriorism the team still plays, focussed on, you know, footy.

Prime Ministers interfering in the MRP process. Prayer mats provided in the change rooms. Tossing the coin together this weekend in solidarity against a speech that has been blown way out of context if you actually to listen to it.

All I have seen is ridicule thrown Garys way.

Probably should PM if you want to discuss further don't want to derails the thread with politics/religion.:thumbsu:

Hawks by 42.

Take it to PM if you want to speak all the nonsense, Mr Anning.

Clubs providing prayer mats doesn’t really compare to being given a week off of training. I agree people shouldn’t get the ‘good bloke’ defence at MRP hearings - but I think that can happen regardless of a player’s chosen creed.

The solidarity thing this weekend was co-ordinated by players’ respective teammates to stand up for their mates. That’s what teams do - good for them.

Implying that allowances only cut the way of Islamic players is a bit silly when you consider there have been multiple NRL players who have been allowed to go on years long missions and also not play on Sundays because they are Mormons.

That’s a horrible thought.
hopefully before Hodgey left he managed to DeGaz JOM.
Ive probably trolled the bald headed god botherer more than 99% off posters here but the little weirdo could play football.
No doubt Jaeger learnt a lot off him.

I don't think anyone was implying that allowances are only given to islamic players, more that it is only the players that practice Christianity who are mocked and looked down on for their choice of religion and I have to say that I 100% agree.

I really wish people would just leave stuff like religion and politics out of their posts on the Hawks board. Go and post on one of the other boards where that type of stuff belongs. The internet is full of forums for discontented individuals to vent their spleen about whatever political or religious issue is causing them to lose sleep at night. Go hang out there if you must. The one thing that we all have in common here is that we support the Hawks and are passionate enough about it to post on here. Why stuff that up by injecting such divisive topics into the otherwise footy related discussion?

This post needs to be framed. We're hear to talk about footy.

I agree Gaz's religion shouldn't be mocked on here - nor should any other player's. If you think Muslim players don't get mocked or looked down upon then you need to get out more - they would cop it far worse from dickhead punters in the crowd. I bet Houli and Saad have heard more shit about their faith than Rance has about his during their careers. I've heard Houli cop ignorant shit at games and I dare say that wasn't an isolated incident.

And I dislike politics coming into these threads also, but at times it is inevitable - but if someone makes out as though Saad and Houli have been afforded benefits above and beyond players of other faiths then I am going to question it. I don't actively look to bring this stuff up - but if I see it raised then I am going to be drawn in.

Yeah, but the dude asked you to PM him, not carry it on here.

Given it's a pretty even playing field, anything's possible. However it'd be more a heist than a pinch. Our form isn't a patch on 2008 or our threepeat years – when we played like genuine premiership contenders. This year I haven't really seen that dominance, and we're still yet to play a complete four quarter game. But agree there have been some very exciting developments over the last little while.

this game is a test for whether the Saints players want Richo as their coach next year I reckon

if they have decided they don't want him this could be an absolute belting. They looked disinterested later in the game against the Bombers & I wonder whether they have checked out already & this could be the opportunity for a "coach killer" type game

I'm really glad he hasn't been sacked & they had appointed a caretaker coach for this game as they could be dangerous switched on

lets just get the job done & move onto the $wans either way

Wow. A whole lot introducing facts not in evidence (alleged abuse ratios from the crowd) or relevant (NRL policies and again said crowd behaviour) to a discussion about the purpose of a footy forum.

Now normally when I see this sort of argument it leads me to believe the position argued is weak. But perhaps not. Perhaps you’re convincing me instead that if I just believe something enough then it’s true. Perhaps post-modernism is correct after all. But then, if post-modernism is believed to be correct then isn’t that prima facia evidence that it’s merely a social construct and therefore incorrect?

I’m so confused!

I used to be exactly the same, but then made a conscious decsion not to get drawn in because a) it isn't worth the the time or aggravation, b) it's annoying for everyone else who just wants to talk about footy and finally, c) You won't change someones mind or attitude by arguing with them on a forum.

Now back to tomorrow nights game. Hawks by 56 points.

Point D) I couldn’t agree more with. Let’s hope the boys are up for a massive win and seal finals.
