We always needed to win the last game against Footscray to make the top two and nothing has changed. A draw in the Melbourne-Geelong game will make no difference to that equation.
It may change the Minor Premiership, though.

Yes, percentage may determine if we finish first or second if we beat Footscray. It may also determine if we finish third or fourth if we lose to Footscray.

But that is not what was discussed. The original discussion was about top 2 v top 4 and, in that regard, the equation is unchanged.

For some reason, this annoys me perhaps more than it should.

Given that we won the premiership in 2004, I sort of think we should have the exclusive monopoly on the production of commemorative videos. That St Kilda video seems to wander into the realm of false advertising or passing off.

I remember being similarly triggered in late 1979 when I saw someone in Rundle Mall wearing a "South Adelaide 1979 Premiers" T-shirt that had somehow managed to escape from the landfill at Wingfield.

Wtf... I would be so embarrassed if I had a 2020 port premiership shirt and wore it around... Would ****in burn it!!!

Just one thing 4 talks was good , but it seemed to open up a bit when there was only 3 or maybe it was just Ladhams getting more of a go , he was excellent in the last quarter .
Marshall wasn’t disgraced in the ruck at a few centre bounces in the last quarter but his opponent was no great shakes DeKonig ? ( not sure of the spelling .
Im still opened minded although I did think we missed Marshall last week .
They’re all different luckily , I guess Ladhams and Dixon are a bit similar , but George and Marshall are very different and probably should be the ones that lead up to the wing and particularly in George’s case run back in and be an extra ball carrier.
Big Scooter is even getting a few goals and shown he can be quite crafty .

19 unanswered goals. If it was a vic team that did it regardless of the opponent they would be lauded by the media for a week. We did it crickets.
It was fun, but now the boys have to move onto this week (and I have no doubt that's what they've done). I remember round 23, 2017 - we absolutely wiped the floor with Gold Coast: I reckon Charlie and another Port player both outscored the woeful Suns individually.

But then the week after was that final against West Coast, which shall never be spoken of again. It illustrates that smashing a basket case one week doesn't guarantee success the following week.

This week's CD tables thanks to Garibaldi Red. Been a bit slack last the few weeks, so I'm adding some extra stuff.

Port X Score 134 Actual 140 +6
Carl X Score 79 v Actual 45 -34

Carlton had some poor goal kicking. We shouldn't have scored 19 unanswered goal. Carlton had some very straight forward shots late in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter.

2nd 2.08 to go Curnow marks 30m from goal on about a 60 degree angle and rushes an around the corner shot.
3rd 0.35 McGovern marks 25m out straight in front and misses
4th 0.17 Casboult snap from 12m out 30 degree angle kicks it straight into the post.

We continue to magically give the oppo chances to score a goal in the last minute or two of a quarter, after we've been dominating it.

7 free kicks inside 50 is a rarity for Port - we kicked 4.2. Not sure if the 50m to Houston for the Saad off the ball free on Butters counts as I50 free, but if it does that's 5.2. That sling tackle against Saad on Boak was a BS free, which Boak goaled.
Carlton got 2 and kicked 0.1

Marks I50
Port 15 for 10.4 and 1 did not make the distance and in the last quarter it was 8 for 6.2
Carlton 11 for 2.6

People say I50's is meaningless, but it has worth when you look at how many shots are generated by those I50's.

We poorly used the ball I50 in the 1st quarter. In the 3rd quarter we wasted the ball when we had lots of opportunities. Amon was the biggest offender, kicked a straight forward shot out on the full, another was a point when he could have steadied further and then a complete rubbish 50m across the goal pass, when guys were leading towards him and he hit a Carlton player 10m in the clear of anyone. Our 2nd quarter was decent and very good conversion and the last quarter was brilliant.

The pressure index on TV in the first quarter and second quarter came out as elite for both sides when it flashed up but Carlton averaged 209 for all of the 1st, anything over 200 is elite and Port was 183. Port recorded 213 in the 2nd quarter and 202 in the last quarter. It was our ordinary kicking in the first quarter and early 2nd that cost us. Our disposal efficiency % was 61% of the 99 disposals at the end of the 1st quarter. We had 46 handballs and they usually record 80%+ efficiency and 53 kicks so that means about only 24 kicks were efficient. by end of the 2nd quarter that had raised to 72% of the 221 disposals, so around 81% of our 122 disposals were considered effective.

Ruck Contests from AFL website pro stats

DeKoning did a lot work against our 2 guys. He went to 71 ruck contests, won 23 HOs, and had 6 to advantage.
Ladhams was 39-23-9 and Lycett was 35-15-4.

Marshall's 2 were in the centre square and Charlie's were from boundary throw ins deep in the forwardline and 1 or 2 ball us deep in the forwardline.

Our best kicking efficiency guys vs our worst. Boak had a shocker with only 3 of his 13 kicks were effective. He kicked 1.3 and all should have been goals. Wines is down the bottom with 30.8% and 4 out of 13 kicks. I thought he would be around 50%.

Burton had a shocker, and not for the first time this year. Back Men should be 75%+. He was 6/14 for 42.9%.

Anyway here's Marc Murphy getting smashed for 2 minutes straight. Happy 300th!

I watched that straight after reading the Venables' story of his seven brain bleeds he had from that head clash he had that ended his career., and so far ruined his life. I cringed at every head smashing that Murphy received there ... frightening stuff, and no laughing matter IMO.

Listening to defence of Luke Hodge's hit had me almost throwing my laptop.
