I'm fairly sure they can't do what they did here, and just made it up. But the AFL will tick it off.

Surely being able to call a review can't be dependent on if a mark is taken relatively soon after.
And if it's a quick break down the other end for a goal, or 2 min before another stop in play? What then?
They either stop play at the time or it's play on. Can't have it both ways
It's bush league

Terrible game by Jordon Sweet.

Needs to focus on ruckwork and not on using his jumper for hold onto Max Gawn's fist.
Gawn will go down as one of the best rucks of all time and while Sweet lost the battle he was competitive and damaging enough (particularly in the last qtr) to hold his head high

The other 5 games this weekend so far, have been upset wins/losses. Geez we gave it a good shake to be #6.

That was a shit display of football that instills no confidence in our ability to hold up to finals pressure.

But still, good to beat a team the had the umpires and commentary team on their side.
I disagree

Finals footy will never go your way 100% of the time. Unlike last year, under adversity we are stopping the run on of goals better.

If it was a more balanced umpiring display I suspect it would have been a 5 goal win to us in reality. However they stopped us many times and rewarded them.

I would love Butters to stop the dinky flashy stuff and dinky kicks and start going back to basics.

JHF nothing more needs to be said.

Time for a Todd to go, 4 concussion tests this year? Most minor knocks also, he needs to retire, shame, he showed promise but it’s stuffed now.

Hung up the match thread, couldn't keep going, just find us so hard to watch when we are choked and we allow opposition sides to get on top of us like that. They get in our heads and turn us into a scrappy, messy, mistake ridden side. Our gameplan has zero plan B, and we just struggle big time when the oppo plays that type of game and works that hard on the ground. We just got extremely lucky we held on all night despite playing shit.

The good though was the grit in the last quarter, despite some phenomenally bad umpiring killing us in several key moments. Rozee stood up. JHF was outstanding. Plus the defence held up (except for BZTs 2 brain fades).

Well if they wanna achieve something from here, they only need to win 5 more now. It's there in front of them. Sitting in 2nd, basically locked into top 8 now. The chance against the Non-Vic top 4 has suddenly opened up things. Tell ya what though, lose another ****ing showdown though and/or drop a key final all hell is set to break loose.

Dixon and Rat seems like a good idea when Mitch is there kicking goals but with him and Todd out it was the most uninspiring forward line in the game.

We really need Scully, Lord or someone come in and replace one of them.

Bollocks of a game, wasted so many opportunities in front of goal in the first. Butters must have turned it over four or five times.

We could not bust the flow of the game open but credit for fighting out the win when we couldn't get the game on our terms.

Marshall barely got touched in that contest. Very concerning to be concussed from that. I think he needs to consider his future.

Shoved out of every contest and couldn't breathe on them. If Hinkley actually backs in his players (lol) he'll cop the fine and call out that absolute disgraceful umpiring performance in the presser.

Couldn't transition the ball for shit after Marshall went off. Midfield really struggled. Just did enough to fall over the line on a night where nothing was going right for us and we made lots of dumb decisions and skill errors.

JHF is the best player in the league.

Melb wanted it more, but didn't have JHF......we are fit this year, but still lack a system or game-plan that stands up under pressure, we yo-yo throughout the season as a result, a coach in his 12th year and team vying for a flag should have a base level of consistency.

That umpiring, my lord, the 50 million calls they'd get, then the complete non calls we'd cop......almost every contest a Melb player would throw the arms out appeal for a free and 9 times outta ten get it. Just a shitshow league really.

Thought Rozee ended up pulling his finger out in the last and really contributing, wish he'd start playing like that every week

****ing hate when teams play this god awful gameplan against us. Just flood the hell out of the defence and corridor. Makes it a horrible game to watch and we have no counter for it.

Other teams deal with this by spotting up targets. We don't even really seem to try unless Georgiades, Marshall, Butters or JHF take it upon themselves to lead.

We could really open up that corridor if we had any movement forward of the ball whatsoever

Exactly what happens when you play Melbourne. It’s the type of game you get.

Umpiring was a disgrace

Butters and Rozee came back in the 4th as they should.

I thought Aliir and BZt good games.

JHF BOG by a mile.

Lachie Jones is a disgrace please delist, he’s the anti JHF. Zero composure, shocking handling, just a fking plonker of a footballer
