Autopsy Round 23, 2021: Hawks draw with Tigers - end of an era!

Had to laugh at the last 5 minutes when the result meant nothing - two assy goals from Reiwoldt.

Clarko and Silk's legacy is built on winning flags, not dead rubbers.

On the bright side, we have maintained our good form that is enjoyable to watch - with some unexpected bonuses in Nash and Bramble.

Oh, the draw almost certainly moved us a spot up in the draft - pick 7 now (after the FS bids).

So what you’re suggesting is every Hawk player out there suddenly agreed to shaft two of the most celebrated, legendary names in our club history – all for the possibility of jumping ahead one spot in the draft.

Please link me to where I said any of that. Melbourne's penalties for not tanking were issued because of what happened in the coaches box and that is exactly where the blame lies for today.

The 20 minute emotional roller coaster I just went through from 10 mins left in the game show how much this club means to me, nothing will top a grand final win and Hodge’s retirement press conference will still be second place to that. A point either way wouldn’t change either of their career’s but Richmond sent off two three time premiership players, one being the biggest ambassador the Muslim community has seen for our great game.
That was bloody tough to watch though.
I love how much of a student of Hawthorn Clarko is and you can read out history in terms of chapters, pre 50s struggling, 50s no longer accepting average, 61 🏆 and building. 70s and a big rivalry vs North. 80s and 🏆’s and greatness. 91 and then the potential merger. Enter the Clarko chapter, I think he has a few chapters in the Hawthorn book.
How he describes the baton being passed and a new chapter is such testament to how much he respects the hawthorn history. Right now we are all struggling and want more years and more flags. Wanting that right now hurts. Doesn’t change how fondly we look back over the last decades.

I’ld type about Silk too but Ild be incoherent with emotions way too quickly.
F**k I love this club and what it makes me feel. Thank you Alistair thank you Shaun and got luck Mitch.

Sad we couldn't get the win for 2 greats of the club. But let's not forget we had sicily, gunston, breust,cj,day, impey and Moore out ourselves, so the talk of not beating a second rate Richmond is a bit of a stretch considering we had 7 best 22 out.

The first half the year was a train wreck but the second half has got me excited for what is to come in the future.

Don’t wanna hear any BS about Richmond fielding their B side either, just simply take a look at our injury list…

Would agree with the general sentiment - feels like aaaaages since fielding our best 22. With one exception.. the midfield. As far as I'm aware... that's the best we currently have (short of rotating Duke in??), and that was certainly not Richmond's best they were up against. Some tinkering definitely needed. Anyone know of a coach going around with some midfield experience?:D

But more importantly... Thanks Clarko & Silk!

I mean i saw the full team huddle at the -6min mark.. but I just thought they were figuring out the car pool home situation :drunk:

While this is true Richmond were missing their starting midfield and had 10 or so players under 10 games. We brought in O’Meara & Worpel - essentially the best midfield we can field. Something is really wrong with our midfield mix.

Our midfield barely broke even against a bunch of kids. We looked so much better last week without JOM and Worps, change is needed in there.

A very flat way to send off two absolute champions of the club.
Yep. Our mids have been sub par most of the year. But last week we beat a team with arguably the best midfield in the comp.

Someone needs to join the dots.

What a disappointment. This team just can't get up for Burgoyne milestone games.

No desperation shown all day. Mentally switched off in the last 5 mins and no one showed leadership down back.

Wingard, T Mitchell and Brockman can hold their heads up high.

Brockman did some good things, but a few times pulled out of contests when it was his turn to go. Would have been dropped if there was a ‘next week’.

Kudos to you, it’s a very difficult thing to achieve but you’ve gone and done it, the worst post of all time on big footy
I was going to post something similar...

Yeh its no surprise when they weren't in there last week we were more dynamic . All 3 are big names but we all know they're to similar , ashame our coaches don't.

Well, last week we essentially fielded a midfield group with the experience of Richmonds today. The only constant was Tom and Chad, who both had good games.

So does this suggest that Worps and JOM are the problem? Ceglar? lots of work needed
