I loved what Cox brought in the ruck, I think he is a decent tap ruckman and must stay in the side.

This may not be popular, as he is a fan favorite but Talor Adams may cost us a final with his disposal.
His disposal has always been a worry but I think it has got worse.

I would rather Macrae come in for him.
I know it is too late in the year for change now but next year he may need to make way.

I don't subscribe to the idea that tonight was a must-win, but my metric going into this game was to lose by under 20 points. So in my mind, tonight was a failure.

I don't care about finishing first, but I care about finishing top two. Now I turn my attention to the last game of the round and hope Freo beats Port, because while I originally thought the gap in percentage was too great I'm questioning it.

Tonight was the largest score conceded under McRae, and the third time in a row we've conceded beyond 100 points. Our percentage in R18 was at 139%. We now are at 123.20%. To concede just under 16% in 5 weeks is shocking. Our backline is probably the worst I've seen it in a long, long time.

Decision-making was extremely costly, particularly kicks inside 50. That Howe kick to Ginnivan makes me shudder thinking about it. That McCreery kick to Howe at the start of the fourth makes me shudder even more because that's what began the Brisbane run.

Emblematic of our loss of connection is that tonight was WHE's 200th game, an underrated servant of the club who is a regular whipping boy. Right at the end NO ONE yelled out or gestured to him to just STOP and go back and take a goal for his 200th. They were happy to have him turn 90 degrees and kick to McCreery as the siren rang.

We go into next week against a Bombers outfit that now has Draper back and may potentially be playing for its season depending on the result against GWS. We go into next week not knowing if De Goey or Hill will be fit to play, not knowing if Murphy will be fit to play, sweating on if Elliott has a delayed concussion, and likely missing McCreery through a dangerous tackle suspension.

This was actually a better performance than last week as funny as it sounds based on the weaknesses we need to address and that is clearance, centre clearances and scores from clearances.

I’m pretty sure we broke even or may have bettered them in those categories looking at the numbers and did so minus a couple of our prime movers.

Pendles is starting to purr.

If we are to go deep in September, match committee will have to make some hard calls.

Hill/JDG/Moore/Daicos all need to be in this side on Prelim Final weekend - don’t think we can have all of Howe/Adams/Mitchell/WHE in this side. 2 of that 4 probably need to miss.
If we get to Prelims. What I just saw doesn’t give me much confidence.

I will say, Brisbane scored 82 points from turnover, which I thought was our strength, they smashed us in that, and also ground balls, which we also seem to have been struggling with the last few weeks as well.

And we go into finals having made the top 2.

Before anyone gets too downhearted about this game and wants to wave the white flag already,I would just say this. What did we exactly have to play for tonight? We’ve got a top two spot wrapped up and we clearly rested players. The Lions on thr other hand had everything to play for,the prospect of two home finals at their beloved Gabba for a start.I think people under estimate the importance of motivation in games.

Lost three of our last four games, and easily beaten by Brisbane twice this year. I’m shattered. Trying to find something positive to say, but struggling. We needed to make a statement tonight and we didn’t. I know we had injuries but Brisbane could have won by a lot more. Hope hanging by a thread now.
We really didn't need to. This game was fairly meaningless for us. A large part of why we were always likely to lose. I'd wait for meaningful games (finals) before getting too upset.

The doomsdayers need to seriously chill.

Tonight for us was like Brisbane missing Neale, Dunkley and Harris Andrews.

Pressure was well and truly there and we we didn't get smacked at a ground that naturally negates our true style and suits Brisbane's. The boys have their eyes on the prize and our guns will get us there.

We've also given Bris a free path to the GF at the G where they turn to shit. All we gotta do is get there and it's ours for the taking.

I don't mind the loss so much but it's the injuries that keep mounting at the wrong time of the year.

Injuries to Murph and probably Elliot will put the wind up a few players as well. Hoping it does not result in preservation footy next week as we will get spanked.

Resting players in the middle of an obvious slump is fraught with danger.

Can't just click in finals when players are under done.

I said it in game day thread not doom and gloom, but gee Midfield is a massive worry we can't get on top so put pressure on defenders with quick clearances. Are they too old? Pendles was our best, at tail end of carreer, surely we can't keep Mitchell and Adams(horrific disposal) and in both are slow as is Lipinski, but it is to late in season to try some youngsters so they have to figure something out, i do have faith in coaching staff so lets see what they come up with
