Seb Ross really the only decent out for them.

Howard is a talent. Glad he isn't playing!

Lol have you seen Howard play this year? He is an unco that was leaking goals like the Titanic

Rnd24 - What’s at stake?
After defeating the Pies for the 6th consecutive time we currently hold second place by percentage over Melbourne and by game day if a win over the Saints rewards us with the title of minor premiers.
St Kilda will secure a finals berth should they become the first team to win at the Gabba this year.

BNE can finish…
1st – IF, they defeat STK, ESS def COL
2nd – IF they defeat STK
If we lose either 3rd or at worst 4th -

STK…
– will play finals ‘cause WCE defeated the doggies.

Omens anyone?
  • BNE not lost at the Gabba this year, played 11 for ZERO losses
  • STK not won interstate this year, travelled 6 times for ZERO wins
  • Lyons has ZERO wins against a Fagan coached team at the Gabba

“Brisbane’s forward-half game was the difference between the two teams tonight, scoring 65 of their 84 points from forward-half launches. They generated 11 more inside 50s than the Saints and won 10 more forward half intercepts.” – afl.com.au

Okay, enough of the numbers and pictorials. Above is my suggested team line-ups.
As the game approaches, the Brisbane Lions coaching staff will closely monitor the injuries to Ah Chee and McCarthy and for the Saints, Ross and Sharman to determine whether they will be available for selection for Saturday. There is also some talk that St Kilda may consider resting Marshall.

Regardless of the players’ health conditions, the game promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams performing at a high level in recent games. However, the Brisbane Lions' unbeaten record at home this year AND the mathematical possibility of a minor premiership should ensure we select our strongest fittest team for our last game prior to finals.

The St Kilda Saints will undoubtedly be looking to end our winning streak, their high pressure run and carry game looked good against Geelong and the Lions will need to be at their best to secure yet another home victory. With the possible absences of some key players, the Lions will be relying on their squad's depth and resilience to maintain their home record and continue their push for the flag.

The BOM forecast for Saturday suggests a mostly sunny day with light winds becoming easterly during the day and maximum of around 26C.

My forecast, Lions by 29pts.

It looks like Ah Chee may play so only Linc to replace.
They might just give Lyons a full game.
We have a few versatile mids that can play enough forward time.

Lyons played well in his only 2 full games when replacing Dunkley.
The Eagles game probably not a great guide, but his Demons game was fine.
The other 4 were as sub.

Nah. Lyons as sub or bust. When he enters the fray, it is full speed ahead. And the opposition is getting a bit gassed.

Tbh I don't watch Ross the Boss coached teams. Sorry friend.

I’m saints no.1 interstate fan. Unfortunately haven’t seen a win this year

Cal is sore but fine to play.
Great news! Ah Chee is Endorsed by the Over 50’s Clique. His first Quarter was sensational against Collingwood.

Lyons was great when he came on against Collingwood. Our midfield immediately looked stronger and I loved that Fagan also played Lyons as a Half Forward, with a licence to get to work at forward half stoppages. It was an inspired piece of coaching. Being at the game you could also see Lyons immediately providing leadership, setting up teammates at stoppages. He was great. He also has a level head.

My favourite part was when they beat the Pies for the 6th time on the trot.

With Lincoln McCarthy out, I would get Lyons into the 22 and play him exactly as Fagan did against Collingwood. That gives us a specialist midfielder who will add physicality to the midfield contest, something Bailey or McCluggage don’t excel at. They can focus on being a gun small forward and one of the best wings in the competition, respectively. Massive plus because we also get Lyons who is a creative player with lockdown potential at forward stoppages. Most people, based on recent selection patterns, probably have Lohmann as SUB, but I would double down on aggression and passion and get Mathieson into the team after his 38 disposal game against Casey on the weekend. He is a genuine X-Factor player.
