Our midfield is good. McEvoy + Mitchell/O'Meara/Howe is generating a lot of opportunities to go forward. The problem is when we go forward we bomb it to Rance/Astbury EVERY time, and when we're trying to set up across our backline guys like Frawley/Duryea are butchering the ball. Duryea alone has cost us three goals.

Lucky to be 19 points down - could easily have been 40+. If we smarten up our forward entries then I could see us winning this considering our midfield ascendancy. But if we don't change anything up then we'll end up losing in an extremely frustrating manner.

Why do we have Gunston lose in the back half when we are being killed down forward. Richmond must be living that tactic. Got to take a risk and put him or Burton up front. We are smashing them in the clearances but only playing 5 forwards so they run it out tint and time again.

Yeah but they are happy to concede numbers at the contest to intercept our entries and rebound
Which is why fixing our ball movement is crucial, but possible. I am not saying we are going to win, but we can win and should not be so negative in a game that we have been average in but are well and truly still in it on the scoreboard.

Stay positive people, we are in this game!

25 clearances to 10!

We are matching and beating them in a lot of facets of the game, all we need to do is fix our forward entries.

I’m high up in the Northern stand where the players are like ants. I reckon the movement and intensity went up a fair bit towards the end of that quarter.

A little luck and a couple of Cyril kicks and we would have been right in this.

Let’s go Hawks!

Gotta love the screeching Richmond fans behind me who have spent the game just yelling Dusty this and Dusty that, cause they don't know any other players names.

Have to kick 10 goals to break 100. While keeping Bitch--m0nd to 6 goals. Hmmm.

We upped the pressure late in the half. Better.

As others have said, a weird game with awful skills, exactly the way the AFL want it. And umpires given way too much leeway to favour one team depending on whether it's that time of the month (or they're a camera-whore cheat like Chamberlain and Pannell.)

This is why I dislike watching AFL in the last few years. If it wasn't for the Hawks, I'd never watch another game. Between the rule 'interpretations', the AFL cheating to help 'equalise' the competition (and to give the Bulldogs free rein to drop/throw the ball) and the AFL-sanctioned bile and drivel in the media, you really have to scratch around for positives, like a chicken with blood spurting out its aorta hole.

Last 15min of the first and first 15 of the second were terrible.

We’re in the game... just need to hit the scoreboard

He needs to do exactly what Clarkson wants him to do, and for the majority of his career that’s been to close down on opposition mids.

If you want him to lead the disposals you’re going to be disappointed.
He can play defensively, but also needs to contribute the other way. 6 disposals in a half for a midfielder is not good enough, especially as a senior player.

It's time for him to stand up and have an influence on the game. Let the young blokes like Howe play the defensive roles, that's how they learn.

Anyway I have had my say. You have also proved my point. An absolute free ride.

That’s not what Clarkson wants.

He wants a long contest, where Bruest, Rioli, Poppy and Impey can crumb.

It’s what we do.

Except tigers are marking them because no one is crashing the pack or playing in front
