Gotta love the screeching Richmond fans behind me who have spent the game just yelling Dusty this and Dusty that, cause they don't know any other players names.
Richmond only have 1 player
Geelong only have 3
We're the best team simply because we have 22 who put in

Can the people potting O’Brien, stop.

He was going one out against Astbury and Rance while Roughead was off the ground and we continued to put it on his head.

Delivery was hardly in his favour to out mark them.
Why? Offers very little out there and gets rag dolled every time he’s near the ball. Far too timid for my liking.

Positive is Jags is absolutely dominating, we need the 2nd tier to support him and Titch otherwise it's curtains. Almost tempted to throw Burton forward and TOB back, just give TOB simple instructions as it's clear he has no idea what he's doing as a forward.

******* Langford!!!!!!!!!@
All u had to do was knock it on. If another bloke tells me he a afl player on here ill spew up
keyboard warrior :$
He needs to do a hell of a lot more than be just a negating mid. He is out VC and 27 years old, we need more ball winning I'm the middle. The young blokes can do the negating work.

we are dominating mid so far but the forward structure is killing us
Realistically we should be up by around 3 goals.
You're about as funny as watching Doc play atm

If he's not a marking forward what is he then? He's false hope for mine, needs to improve. Forward entries are woeful but he needs to demand the ball. That said we are still in it, only just. This game could end up being a real barometer of where we are at.

That’s not what Clarkson wants.

He wants a long contest, where Bruest, Rioli, Poppy and Impey can crumb.

It’s what we do.
Need to be smart and realise that when the crumbers are nowhere to be seen that team rules don't apply. I think we all understand the forward mantra but you need to be smart enough to know when to bring it to ground or try and win your own.

The Good
  • We are only 3 goals down, Richmond could have blown us away in first half of the second.
  • Pressure was standing up and causing issues for Richmond in the second part of the second.
  • Plenty of good, proud players down who should be smarting with a second half to turn it around.
  • O'Meara has been slick
  • Mitchell
  • McEvoy
  • Stratton
  • Morrison
  • Bruest
  • Poppy
  • Hardwick
The Bad
  • Forward entry
  • O'Brien
  • Rough
  • Langford
  • Impey
  • Burton (will be a gun, but disappointing JLT has transferred into the season so far)
  • Having to listen to this Mitchell debate about being damaging again, ffs
  • Starting Gunston back
The Ugly
  • Duryea
  • How many free players Richmond have on forward entries, been very lucky they have been untidy at times

It’s what we do.

Those players need to exploit the Tigers deep set up and actually become genuine targets today rather than crumbers purely. We can't always avoid the long bomb but we need to bring those guys in as genuine lead up / target options.

Have to kick 10 goals to break 100. While keeping Bitch--m0nd to 6 goals. Hmmm.

We upped the pressure late in the half. Better.

As others have said, a weird game with awful skills, exactly the way the AFL want it. And umpires given way too much leeway to favour one team depending on whether it's that time of the month (or they're a camera-whore cheat like Chamberlain and Pannell.)

This is why I dislike watching AFL in the last few years. If it wasn't for the Hawks, I'd never watch another game. Between the rule 'interpretations', the AFL cheating to help 'equalise' the competition (and to give the Bulldogs free rein to drop/throw the ball) and the AFL-sanctioned bile and drivel in the media, you really have to scratch around for positives, like a chicken with blood spurting out its aorta hole.
Tbf I haven't noticed umpires today apart from the score review.
Have more been noticing doc and what he should be doing but isn't

First half thoughts...

Drop Duryea. Has been a liability in the first half, turned the ball over constantly with his lack of awareness. Stats don't reflect how poor he has been.

Clearance work is good, it's only when we go forward we go without intent and I've lost count of how many times we have kicked out directly to Rance or Astbury. Either need to run it into the 50 or have someone kamikaze the pack. Currently we do neither.

If we half the high ball into or forward 50 we can win get Gunston foward and TOB back to defence, Tim has no ability to read the play so he is lost as a forward, at least in defence he can let his opponent take him too the ball and then nullify the contest.

You could blame the delivery for O'Brien if he wasn't like this every game as a forward. I've been a defender of his but he's 24 and he still hasn't found his niche as a player, I don't know if he's improving. As a defender he's a good athlete and he's a goer so he needs to go back again.

We need to lift.

Leading contested possessions.
Leading clearances.

Leading clangers. :(

11 shots on goal, from 25 inside 50's, which dropped away that quarter despite how often we went forward that quarter.

We desperately need marks inside 50, or to at least to be smarter with our long delivery.

Agree with all of this.
