Review Round 3, 2022 vs Adelaide

I remember going outside and kicking a chair so hard that my foot hurt for months after the Jenkins goal showdown loss.

Last night I just flipped over to Netflix and continued my 9/11 documentary. It was actually quite uplifting compared to the current state of the club.

I didnt even see half the game. Checked the scores early in the last then after the game.

I lol’d. No ****s given

Am shattered that Schofield left. Been following his coaching career for many years. Many teams that suffer heavy defeats in finals fall away the following year. Recent examples Melbourne, Adelaide , GWS.
Port Adelaide 2007.
Port Adelaide 2014. Close but fell away for years despite being a very talented young side.

It is pretty obvious that we have taken the cheap option to save money in regards to appointing from within our fitness department. There would have been better candidates on the outside.

Same can be said for appointing Cornes as defensive coach.

The whole structure of the coaches box is inept.

You get what you deserve.

We are right at the end of our premiership clock and we lose two high quality assistants in Voss and Schofield and we don't replace them? It's actually mind-blowing

To be fair it's literally the best thing that's happened to their rabble of a club since the power stance debacle of 2017
And it'll probably be their only win before the mid season bye.

I think the forward mix was better but boosted a bit by Frampton being there.

I liked how we kicked it to Marshall’s advantage and he got separation from his opponent and then converted. Mayes getting 5 shots on goal was a surprise but generally the competitiveness of the forward line was much better.

Everything else was ****ed.

Mids - Lycett beaten at taps, Wines has no impact, Butters stunk, Drew 16 touches and a goal is T enough. The outside players didn’t gain enough territory.

Defenders - McKenzie & Skinner were poor. Jonas was our best interceptor which says a lot. Smalls we’re ok I think but didn’t set the world on fire.

I think defence will be ok once Allir and Clurey are fit but the mids really need to find a way to contribute more offensively and we know Boak & Wines are not really that sort of player.

Hawthorn kicked a few out of their arse but they kicked a lot from in or near the goals square.

How many did Adelaide kick, from in or near the goal square and from straight in front. Reckon Gollant kicked 3 from inside or near the goal square.

Maybe other teams have better skill when it comes to goalkicking.

It’s hardly a new thing that we miss plenty.

That’s not goal kicking accuracy from close in.

McKenzie is cooked and I don’t know if Skinner is up to it. There were plenty of opportunities where the crows talls got away from their opponent and dropped marks or spoiled each other.

Someone should send that photo of Hinkley smirking on the boundary to Koch and Co ... just so they know how appreciative we are to have a true Port person coaching us

Someone should put it on a banner along with him smiling with Clarkson after the Hawthorn loss in Tasmania with 'Laughing Stock' written above it.
Make it look like one of those political advertisements where you expose the worst of your opponent.
With 25K tops on Thursday night you'd get some traction out of it, keep applying the pressure to this fraud.

You simply don’t lose those types of games.

Then again you don’t get blown out the water by 64 points at home against the Hawks

You don’t throw in the towel in a home Prelim by 12-13 goals

This is Port Adelaide, we exist to sell memberships, club merchandise, protect Ken & be a socially responsible club.

Based on what most people have as our best 22 we were missing for various reasons

Dixon - Injured
Gray - Injured
Fantasia - Injured
Aliir Aliir - Injured
Clurey - Injured
Bergman- Finding fitness after op
Duursma - Out of form/injury

You would only have to add Aliir Aliir from that list and we probably win

If one of Mayes, Houston, Wines or Boak kick their set shot from close range we win

If Mayes doesn't make completely unnecessary contact in the dying seconds, we win

If the umpires don't pay 2 of the most disgraceful deliberate out of bounds I have seen, Himmelberg probably doesn't score 1 of his 2 goals late in the last quarter as the ball would of been inside/near our attacking end

But, that's just football

Have you checked your username lately?

I just cant believe that these professionals can not hold possession for the 3 minutes.... is that so hard to do? This is when you need to give it your all, to provide the options leading up to provide that option no matter how spent you are. Kicking long to a contest is the most stupid thing you can do at this time of the game, its an easy option that leads to the ball returning just as quick. I dont care if you kick it backwards, just keep possession.

When MacKenzie took that defensive mark, I thought the footy gods were on our side. This is when I said to myself now play possession football....

This is a reoccurring nightmare. Have we NOT learnt a single thing...

Watch what the umpire signalled

Umpire indicated high contact
He was reported for high contact
Murphy doesn’t take his kick because he’s pretending it was high contact

There’s a theme here Schorcho

Or it was a big farking hit, the campaigner just came off neck surgery, and there was an element of whiplash to his neck.

Murphy is the type of campaigner who would have wanted to take the shot. Ie. Greedy.

He was legitimately hurt

Hinkley.
Bassett.
Cornes.
That really is frightening. Puts some perspective on how realistic our chances are. Add to that the losses in the high performance/fitness area and we really are getting what we deserve.

Oh well, we'll make a profit for the year and the board will pat itself on the back. Just don't spend any of the gains on the football department...

Much improved game by the oft maligned Todd Marshall last night, and he finished well too, albeit he does run too close to the man on the mark too often for my liking, and I can see smarter oppo coaches taking advantage of that in future games and forcing him to kick high.

He won't get that amount of free space to lead into against the top teams either, he was regularly given a paddock to work into last night, there was little to no attempt by tingle defenders to block space and force him wide, there is no way he will get hat amount of freedom against the dees.

So you’re saying the Crows medicos sent a player out there following neck surgery who wasn’t quite healed ?

He staged it plain and simple
