A Scott / Clarko typo would have been on the verge of throttling someone.
lol, na, Chris Scott would have been thinking of excuses to make in his press conference as to why the Cats lost.

This is going to be such a long season. It's only 2 April. There's still 19 games to go ffs. And our performance will actually get worse from here as the players begin to realise the futility of the season and start mentally checking out.

Wtf? Quite literally every player in the AFL would have done that exact same thing in that situation. What would you have had him do instead?
With 38 seconds to go up by 2 points anything but kick to a contest on the wing. Surely holding possession would of been priority. Basics absolute basics if you can't see that your deluded

It is pretty obvious that we have taken the cheap option to save money in regards to appointing from within our fitness department. There would have been better candidates on the outside.

Same can be said for appointing Cornes as defensive coach.

The whole structure of the coaches box is inept.

You get what you deserve.
Which to be fair is exactly what you should do if you are thinking you will have a new head coach for 2023 and want to give them the space to bring in their assistants.

Wasn't it the same the last time this happened v WCE? We turned it over kicking to a contest with 30 seconds to go when all it needed was some chipping around?

If you can’t kick you can’t kick.
Boak and wines fall into that category.
I don’t think they’re mentally weak but Just poorly skilled footballers.

Who haven't improved. Who clearly haven't worked on their technique and this falls on the coach/s was well, all of whom are on very good coin.

There's few things more pathetic than watching us trying to protect a lead late in the game. Clearly from the coaching box we're reduced to hoping

we can fall over the line. Nervy dinky little kicks in defence, panicked long bombs or blind hoicks that at best end up with twitchy shots on goal.

We get in front then cede momentum to the oppo as our arseholes tighten and we get the nervous nellies.

The Port of old... bah but it is Hinkleyworld. Grinning on the boundary at the end ... are you effing kidding me.

When I saw that and I wanted to knock your lights out. Go and fill potholes for the Camperdown council it'd suit youse.

Even with Boaks miss, Mckenzie takes a ******* monster mark with 60 seconds left. How the fu** did we not run out time from there?
38 seconds left and Houston kicks to a contest. That's how. If we can't maintain possession for 38 seconds we are stuffed. You don't give up possession with 38s to go up by 2 points. Mentally weak side

I'm baffled why so many are angry with Murphy for playing up the free, they wanted the win, it was a dumb move by Mayes and they sealed it with a classy kick. Better direction for that anger is the Ken, the club and pur own players who play like jelly fish.

This is beginning to feel very 2009. Just hope the club nut up and sack hinkley
Plus it was karma in a way, Dawson was a bit unlucky to have a goal disallowed by SpudCam.

Good teams can soak up several minutes chipping it around taking time off the clock. It's what most teams do at training to simulate the scenario we had last night.

It should never have even got to that stage though being 23 points up in the second half.

Look, we've just got to continue to go to work, put our heads down and fix up some of our problems. We think the effort is there, or nearly at the level that we'd like, it's just some of those fundamentals we need to tidy up a bit. Thats all we can do, come in Monday and let's go again, and make sure we get to the level that we need to be at. We embrace it, this is the position we're in, it's our own doing and we own that. So we'll look at what went wrong and review it and work on it and continue to get better. We know our best is good enough, it's just about getting back to that footy that's going to take us to where we want to be as a football club. It's an opportunity for us, it's going to test us, but we're confident we can continue to come in to work and strive to be better, and improve. Certainly the first thing we need to look at is our ball use and our intensity around the footy, but we know what's not working for us and we'll come in Monday and work on that, and hopefully Thursday against Melbourne is another step in the right direction and we continue to work towards where we want to be at as a football club.

We where terribly unlucky in the 2020 Preliminary. We where on the end of some bad umpiring that night.
Last year's Preliminary was a woeful performance. And looks like it's followed us into 2022.
Been unlucky this year.Round 1 with injurys and extreme humidity.Round 2 was as bad as we have played .And last night we found a way to lose to a side ,that where at least a 6 goal better side.
Aside from the missed opportunities and Adelaide just hanging in there. An extremely dodgy free on the siren . Player faking an injury so he didn't have to take the kick.Port didn't finish the game off.
Also Adelaide week in and out have the same 3 or 4 players that don't contribute enough. But still managed to win last night.

And I’ve got great new seats to watch the nightmare unfold 😂.

I just hope the weather is good at least!

That last play achieved the desired result - we got a stoppage on the wing with 25 seconds to go. The problem was what happened after that.

If kicking to a contest while you are up by 2 points with under half a minute to go is what we train for, then the training is wrong.

If it was the 2nd quarter then we would have happilly chipped it around until the siren went, as we do every week

Lol what a foreseeable cluster**** that was

We all saw it coming.

When Marshall was at 4 goals abusing the slow crows defenders by moving the ball quickly I predicted we would abandon the gameplan that was working and Hinkley would order the troops to protect the lead and slow down. Like clockwork.

Was great to see Marshall make the most of his opportunities. Very good game and an all round effort. He’s not a ruckman but he did as best that you could hope for against an actual ruck. Kicked goals, set up others with ball use. Did the team things, tackled hard and was ripped off by being denied 2 htb calls the first would have been an easy shot at goal and was obviously there.

Why did wines only play 71% tog? On a night we were getting smashed by the oppos clearance winners that was very strange.

Our key defenders were absolute dogshit. Himmelberg took 4 contested marks. They have been shit for a while now, even last year we relied on Alir.

It should be clear that clurey Jonas and Alir are our best three. McKenzie is just far too prone to being taken advantage of.

We need to do something here, just give pasini a game. Is he good enough or not? **** knows. Has some quality traits but may or may not be an afl player but **** it, let’s find out. Jonas is doing the bare minimum as a shut down player. Skinner is outright horrible, and McKenzie just seems to be holding on for dear life out there. Play finlayson again in the forward line, but if you’re not going to pick him as a forward pick him as the chb instead of skinner.

**** you Spp. Such a dumb footballer. Took butters, one of our key players and the next franchise mid for port out of the game with a dumb hit. Open you eyes Spp. Does this far too often. Hurts port more than he hurts the other team.

Mcintee - sure there was some nice tackling in there but tackling means so ****ing little if it’s the one thing you offer.

Why do we keep giving motlop games? He’s so invisible no one even cares enough to single him out anymore. Just resigned to him doing what he’s done, skating around doing nothing for 95% of the game.

In a not dissimilar boat, I not only purchased tickets to the Showdown, but my cousin is a Carlton supporter, so before the season we booked flights to Melbourne for the Port v Carlton game. So with my home membership and those two tickets I could, in theory, watch five straight weeks of this shit live. Glorious times.

Hah, yup I’ll probably go to the Carlton game too, we always seem to have them around my birthday!

But sod the away showdown. I used to go, but their fans are pathetic.

That's impressive dedication. I can't even watch a full match on TV (after cancelling Kayo so I had an excuse most weeks). I did get to 3QT v Brisbane though, I thought that might be something of a turning point, but alas.

Himmelberg and Gollant 8 between them? That in itself should be enough to get the defence coach fired and a few players cooling their heels in the twos.
Cornes was having a good ol laugh with Dixon and Basset in front of the cheersquad during the warm up pre game. I laugh too when I think of our coaching panel.
