Surely we give Morrison, Scrimshaw and possibly Seamus a chance on the half back line soon. The disposal and composure of guys like CJ and bramble just isn’t up to standard at the moment

I'll have a crack for once ;)

B: Scrimshaw Blanck Hardwick
HB: Jiath DGB Sicily
C: Amon MacKenzie Morrison
HF: Moore Greene MacDonald
F: Butler Ramsden Breust
Foll: Newcombe Day Reeves
Int: Ward Meek Nash Worpel

Sub: Impey or Bramble

In: Scrimshaw, DGB, Morrison, Ramsden
Out: Frost Bramble/Impey Koschitzke Maginess

I'm assuming Wingard will still be out and Reeves is good to go.

Ideally (IMO), you'd play two of CJ, Bramble & Impey (not all three & certainly not in current form).

Our pressure around the ball definitely wasn’t where it needs to be. But what is letting us down even more is our ability defend space. We let so many swans players have a ton of space.

Increasing our pressure will help limit the oppositions good looks. It’s only part of the problem.
Our spares are kick chasing instead of defending dangerous space. Coupled with low pressure, we get slaughtered on the counter by the opposition spares.

I'd have Impey in my sights before Frost. Frost at least goes when it is his turn. He's crude and lacks skill but provides a hard edge. It's hard for any key defender let alone one of Frost's very limited skillset to deal with the ball with the speed it is coming into the D50.

I'm really not sure what Impey has to offer in the last two weeks. Skills have been poor and he hasn't committed himself to the contest like he would have in the past.

I'd send him forward to earn his kicks. Played his best footy post-injury up front. Has been underwhelming as a defender ever since.
There was a kick into the centre where Impey just stood and watched his opponent fly for the ball, he had to make a contest

I see the Supercoach is real life selection committee are up and about.

I also see that no one has selected Wingard as one of their "ins", despite the club saying last week he will be available in round 3. Are we all assuming that to be a nonsense and Chad's calf will be a 4-6 week "cramp"?

I don't reckon it will matter overly who we bring in, we'll still struggle come Saturday. But given one of our biggest problems appears to be cohesion, I don't see how 5+ changes helps with that. So I'm predicting that the number of changes will be closer to 2, and those predicting 5 or more changes will be a touch disappointed come 18:20 Thursday.

We have to restrict North's scoring to under 80 I reckon as us scoring more than that, especially at Launny, will be a bit of a task! Need multiple senior bods to have games closer to their peak to pull it off.

Problem is Ramdsen only had 9 possessions, 8 HOs, 2 marks and no goals in the reserves. Bad as Kosi has been, I still think the players in the seconds - particularly the kids (so not so much Lynch, Scrim etc)- need to earn their promotion rather than get pushed up for senior games because an incumbent is playing poorly. Its not like these losses are costing us anything other than heartache at the moment. I'd rather Ramsden and co were set a series of KPIs over a block of 5-10 games that they need to meet at BXH before they are considered for the AFL. If they shoot the lights out before that block is over then they might get fast tracked but there is no pressure on them to do so and no expectation that they will. That way everyone in the twos is worrying about their own performance rather than ambulance-watching the guys in their position in the firsts, which will happen if promotion is based on the AFL guys failing rather than the BXH guys demonstrating their entitlement to step up. And it means the new players come in with some form and confidence behind them and a sense (among the others in the team as well as the player himself) that they earned their place. I think it would be a bad outcome if we bring in someone like Ramsden without him having merited his place through a solid body of work in the reserves and then have him fail two weeks running and have to decide if he gets dropped now too and whether we bring back Kosi, who himself might have done nothing in the twos to warrant re-selection.

Its hard because with no Lewis and no Wingard, our named forward line averages a career total of 5.5 goals a game between them at the moment. And that includes Kosi averaging his standard bag of one! Sad fact is I'm not sure we can risk losing his contribution in our current circumstances - we might only score four goals for the game...

Oh, yeah... right.......sob.

I think a few changes at the minimum are necessary. Understand the rebuild - obviously. But you can't stand for a few things in footy and literally the biggest culture killer in my opinion at any level is players continually being gifted games when they are uncompetitive or not doing the basic requirements of the plan.

I'd like to see Morrison, DGB and Scrimmers worked back in ASAP. They need games and are going to be with us for 5-10 years hopefully.
I loveeeed what I saw from O'Sullivan at VFL level, but at the same time Brockman and Butler are also kind of banging the door down, so there's a few choices to be made there whether they go with an extra small for the next part.

On the outer well it's hard to say, Impey is one of the bigger ones, I don't think his heart is in it anymore. Frost just doesn't provide anything from my view that warrants not playing a younger more talented person in DGB.

I liked Bramble's second half he had some intensity. One thing on him, why has he become a HBF? Was he not a winger in his first year? Or am I missing something. He was a good winger I thought but not impressing me at HBF.

Not sure who else could go out, whether it's possibly Reeves or Kosi maybe I'm not sure.

It'd be nice to get a win to get the media to pipe down a little, but after yesterday my expectations have really changed on the season and the acceptance of Harley Reid are becoming a more exciting outcome.

The pressure part would be my main interest. We just seem so easily exited. You can’t be a good team these days without elite forward pressure. We don’t really have any atm.

100% we lack pressure firstly, secondly aerial, Kosi is playing with no 0 support.

Brockman/Butler one or both must play I have said this from preseason. Butler was solid last season. Brock in now fit and in form.

There are no saviours in the 2s.

Just young kids who might come on in the next few years.

No Buddies or Roughies or Cyrils.

We need to be realistic. Our list is made up of journeymen, late pick success stories and kids who are finding their feet.

Sam has his work cut out with what he has currently. Even Clarko struggled with what he created.

We need more high level AFL players on the list. Hit the top end of the draft for 2 more years and pray for a gun trade/ free agent like a Ben King.

It's a slow burn but will turn quickly if we get it right.

Agree. There's no panacea in the 2s.
Would love to swing the axe, but we need the guys who are in the team already to turn it around.

I'm hoping Scrimshaw is ready to come back, but maybe he's not.
Would love for Ramma to be ready to come in - but he's probably not.
If we wanna be more dangerous in front of goals, Brockman is probably the only one we could bring in w/ Kosi to back-up ruck & Reeves out.

I've argued recently that CJ has the capacity to play good footy on the wing, but he's not playing good footy atm, so priorty #1 is getting him playing good footy. I think we do that by pushing him to the last line of defence and let him run at the footy.

Unsure if Morrison comes in given he only played just on 3 qtrs. Shift Frosty forward at least he will provide some pressure and bring DGB in. Scrim could come in but it would be for CJ
Agree play Frost forward if Ramsden not ready. Does CJ miss playing alongside Day and Scrimshaw looked way down on confidence. Day good in midfield but maybe shift him back and bring in Stephens in midfield. DGB in.
DGB in for Reeves
Stephens in for Impey

I'm almost at the point of dropping Reeves and Kosi, and bringing in Ramsden and Lynch.

Right now is the time to experiment to find a partner for when Lewis comes back. As he's gonna need one. He'll be triple teamed most weeks as we have no other tall avenues to goal at present.

That point was last week mate.

Did DGB do enough at BH? Everyone else generally has to knock the door down for a few weeks - he seems to play an average game at BH and back in.

Would think ins are likely from Morrison, scrim and chad (all unclear if fit). Butler unlikely to be sub again so may give a chance to someone else as sub (maybe long or brock?)

Mids are not working hard enough defensively. We improved from last week but you can see their mids exerted much more pressure than ours despite dominating possession. They only had 51 turnovers for the game. Our forwards and mids just didn’t bring enough pressure and our defenders got caught out of position too often to provide cover. We really need to look at the way we defend. This performance was on the back of a week of focus on pressure. We wouldn’t want to have a let down after that…

It's just baffling and especially disappointing after hearing all week how we will respond.
