Stephens is 21, why isnt he getting a game? Is he still feeling the concussion or just not settling in right?
Needs to show some consistent form in the 2’s after an interrupted preseason but he isn’t far off.. believe it or not midfield isn’t our worst area of the ground atm- Worpel, Ward, day and Newcombe performing reasonably well - it’s the backline and forward line that are giving us next to nothing

Why is everyone dropping Greene when he’s been our best forward over the pre season, is the only one hitting up and one of the only blokes creating chances?
He's zero chance of going out.
Had 4 shots on goal today, in a side that only kicked 4 goals for the game.

Similarly for Reeves going out, he's currently ranked elite for Hitout win %. Will Sam want to lose that?

In: Stephens, Brockman, Morrison, Scrimshaw, G-Barrass, Lynch

Out: Greene, Nash, Impey, Frost, Koschitzke, Reeves,

No idea, would normally kicked 3 goals today. He's been solid and the only forward thats looked like scoring.

Please don't 🔫 me.

F:Brockman Ramma Wingard
HF:Butler Sicily Moore
W:Amon McDonald Ward
Hb:Scrimshaw DBG Day
FB:Hardwick Blanck Impey
C:Meek Newcombe Worpel
INT: McKenzie Long Breust Nash
Sub:Lynch

One can dream right? 🤷‍♂️

Who would have expected north to be clear favourites for this game a fortnight ago?

They’ll likely smack us around the clearances and appear organised enough defensively that we’ll struggle to score. At very least the Roos will have confidence.

Will Mitchell swing the axe?
Was thinking the same thing. Especially if Reeves is out.

Goldy will give Cunnington and co first use. Larkey will give our key backs a 🛁. They should be better set up defensively off the turnover than last year because clarko is good at that.

Think our inability to defend transition will have us struggling against everyone except Freo ATM.

My changes would be

Frost (can't give your opponent a metre at the opening bouncy - arrogant, arrogant football)

Connor MacDonald (others knocking on the door for that spot... Needs to do more)

Impey (cut the band-aid off. Good bloke but not sure we should be offering him another deal - limited player)

CJ gets an extra week (one more no more)

Ins would be....

Brockman/O'Sullivan/Butler

Long/Morrison

Scrim/Weddle

Dropping Frost means we go with Sicily on a KPF (imo his better role)... Send him to give Charly chomben a bath... We get an extra HBF runner in the side (probably scrim but wouldn't mind seeing Weddle given a go as a flexible back). One of the small forwards to replace MacDonald and Impey replaced by long or Morrison (probably Morrison for balance).

There are no saviours in the 2s.

Just young kids who might come on in the next few years.

No Buddies or Roughies or Cyrils.

We need to be realistic. Our list is made up of journeymen, late pick success stories and kids who are finding their feet.

Sam has his work cut out with what he has currently. Even Clarko struggled with what he created.

We need more high level AFL players on the list. Hit the top end of the draft for 2 more years and pray for a gun trade/ free agent like a Ben King.

It's a slow burn but will turn quickly if we get it right.

This will show where we are at.
Rd 1 can be put down to a few new faces being overawed.
Rd 2 was inexperience

This week up against a team that has scraped over the line twice against sides that didn't turn up until the 3rd quarter

Yeah I reckon the next 4 will give a true indication of where we are at. Three mediocre teams and the arch enemy on a big stage.

That's just bullshit

Not sure about this narrative on the midfield is going okay. The clearances stats look okay (helped by a good two ruck in reeves) but as per last year the opposition is far more effective with theirs. We are also completely useless on defensive transition - it can’t all be the forwards and backs fault - reckon the mids are a structural mess and also not working hard enough defensively.
Lots of work to do for Mitchell.

Mids are not working hard enough defensively. We improved from last week but you can see their mids exerted much more pressure than ours despite dominating possession. They only had 51 turnovers for the game. Our forwards and mids just didn’t bring enough pressure and our defenders got caught out of position too often to provide cover. We really need to look at the way we defend. This performance was on the back of a week of focus on pressure. We wouldn’t want to have a let down after that…

For those suggesting Scrimshaw come in, his niggle may prevent him from serious consideration, unless it was a pre planned strategy to only play half a game at Box Hill due to a 6 day turnaround
He was the extra / emergency just in case. Once it got past a certain time we didn't need him for the seniors anymore and he played the second half

Really fed up with Finn as he offers nothing if be doesn’t tag. In saying that, if Simpkin is out, must tag LDU. I think we are a chance this week but jeez an axe needs to be swung on CJ, Frost, Kosi and Reeves. I’d be going Meek and Lynch but playing Lynch 75% FF.

I'm almost at the point of dropping Reeves and Kosi, and bringing in Ramsden and Lynch.

Right now is the time to experiment to find a partner for when Lewis comes back. As he's gonna need one. He'll be triple teamed most weeks as we have no other tall avenues to goal at present.
I thought the idea was to have one of our rucks sitting at full forward to take the best defender, maybe kick a goal or two then Kozi would get their second and so on. Not seeing this ….am I missing something?

CJ just needs confidence. We know what he can do when he's up and running. He stays.

Kosi has to stay as we have no other options. I'd be up for Rambo to come in and partner him, but not replace him.

Lynch for Reeves is an interesting one. Reeves is comfortably the better ruckman, but with Kosi being so ineffective up forward, I think we another tall half decent marking target, whether that's Lynch resting forward or trying out Rambo. At least, until Lewis comes back.

Impey seems to be copping more shit than he deserves. Has made a few mistakes, but so has most the side. He's getting the ball a fair bit. Once our structures improve, I think he will too.

I'm probably most disappointed in our more senior players. Breust, Sicily, Hardwick were average and Frost was completely useless. DGB in for Frost.

Some people also need to chill on Blanck. The guy has only played 11 games! Give him time.
