I don't think you change the game plan just because we can't execute on skills. Don't think he got out coached, just think our players have been auditioning for Space Jam 2
yeah he did, he could have changed the extra backman way before he did. And those 6 kick ins to start the game - he could have sent Hooker back for a quarter to settle everyone down. He could have said DON"T PLAY ON until the team is settled. He could have played a chaos card and just changed everyone around. Any thing to unsettle the Dogs in the first quarter would have done it.

Stringer as the deepest forward + JD and Stewart as the other talls. Hooker back and let Hurley take Brown's role. Myers out for life and Brown too.

Baguley is old and limited but at least he tries.

The sooner Draper comes good the better, Bellchambers is just a plodder who is happy enough being pro footballer rather than anything more.

Bellchambers the prima donna has one good game against Sandilands & thinks he’s a world beater.

What an arrogant fool. Lumbers through the whole game, doesn’t run with his opponent, kicks off one step all day & makes no attempt to clean up his own mistakes.

Was symptomatic of our attitude today &
if worsfold had any balls he drop the arrogant prick for luenberger next week!!

Head scratcher was with Hartley out, then Dea was a late change. Decided to go with Begley with Myers spending some time down back. Crazy.

The midfield is really struggling but the ball coming out of our forward line was too much. If you put Stringer there you have to move Hooker or Stewart out.

Not many changes because the guys in he VFL are not earning it or up to it at this stage.

Frustrating because I'm not surprised at the result. My thoughts on the game:

Team Observations:
- Defence: Horrible. Couldn't kick the ball out of defensive 50, nobody leading at the ball, kicking accuracy was poor and shocking 1on1 matchups.
- Midfield: We lack contested pressure and worst of all, our mids are afraid of the pressure that comes their way.
- Forward: Had a bad day, didn't lead for the ball well today and received poor delivery from our midfield:

Player Observations:
- Fantasia: great 1st game for a kid who's missed training and game time, so lucky to have him
- Daniher: started to find some form after his first goal and looked really dangerous, that was until the accident...
- Hooker: Generally good. I really do hate to say it, but he looks so well suited down back.
- Heppell: I love Hep, but this guy is physically piss weak in the contest. Needs to harden up or change positions.

What I'd love to see:
- Hooker down back and Stringer as the third tall up fwd
- Heppell to go play off HB like in his early years (reliable kick when not under pressure)
- Laverde or Redman to play off HB
- Mutch and Clarke to get a run in the midfield

Beat Jacobs. There is no better option

I think Zachy was fine, the problem is that this side seems to have no clear structure or system for getting the ball forward to a leading forward that can take a mark and KICK THE GOAL LIKE A FORWARD.

We seem to only know how to rush the ball forward, its as though they don't understand the basics of this game, which is just pathetic because on paper it is a good list but even today we saw McGrath making silly errors but unlike some of hiS team mates, I suspect we wont see him repeat some of those mistakes very often but I wouldn't be shocked to see idiot forwards still looking to handball when they are in front of goal because that fits the dumb rushing game style.

Yet there are times when we have numbers but we don't run the ball, we saw this in the third quarter with three Essendon players coming of half back but instead of running the ball forward until a forward offered a lead, they just rushed it and it resulted in a turnover.

Concussed week one, down but far and away our best clearance and contested player week two, one actual bad game week three. He's got more than enough credits in the bank that he doesn't get dumped to the magoos after one shit performance, especially when he's getting zero help through body work from the rest of our midfield.
So how long?

Mate the guy might be concussed and if thats the case they shouldn't be choosing him but the fact is that its not the standard we expect from him. Forget about credits in the bank, with that mentality Goddard can play for another four years. it seems harsh but its time that this club stood for something. Don't worry there is plenty more from tonight that could get the chop but none would have more impact than seeing Zach, our best midfielder have a week in the twos to get himself right.

Look we clearly have a difference of opinion here and I'm sure plenty out there will agree with you but I like to think the quicker you dress a problem the quicker its fixed. I hope the kid can find some form so we don't have to have these conversations but I would hate to think he spends the next six weeks just doing what he's doing and then we finally do something.

As an aside, I wish Essendon would get over its obsession with trying to turn tall half-forward flankers into inside midfielders. Stringer is an All-Australian half-forward and we spent the summer trying to turn him into a good VFL inside midfielder. Langford is a promising half-forward forward and we've spent the last twelve months trying to turn him into Jobe Watson. Laverde is surely next on the list. It's endlessly frustrating, utterly perplexing and wouldn't be necessarily if, once in a while, we actually drafted or pursued a big bodied inside midfielder.

Hope we don’t play Hartley and Brown down back again. And given that they can’t play anywhere else, it would be a struggle to see them play again. Need some mongrel down there that is going smash the ball and forwards when it’s in defence, ie Hooker and Ambrose (who can’t come back quick enough).

I agree Green played a part but Daniher had control of the ball having marked it and he also then made a skill error on top of that. So I would blame Daniher for that one, even though perhaps Green was being a little bit greedy.

Green was being greedy, but deadset, Joey was just stupid. You're a bloody forward in the goals square - it shouldn't be a hard decision. Kick a goal!

Cant believe people think it was Green who farked up, he could have run past 100 times or sailed by doing handstands in the raw, just don't give it to him, simple!!!

Myers body has prevented him from becoming a much better player than he is.

I don't want to roast the guy because it was his first game back and ultimately, if a player doesn't perform well then it means it was a bad decision to play him.

That said, one could argue that Langford shouldn't have been made an emergency today.
