This is a direct result of what happens when you take too much of a players ability to just play away and give all the power to the game plan makers.

They are making foolish poor decisions that you would never take in any normal situation, but they are doing it to rigidly follow the plan.

Time for players to take some control back and let them play football... Not handball blindly inboard to a 4 on 1 because that's our gamestyle.
Good post.

Go through the corridor if it's there, if it's not...don't. Yet we try to force the issue despite the risk/reward being heavily against taking this option.

The biggest disappointment for me is the lack of effort; tackling, harassing and pressuring the opposition is the one thing you can do regardless of talent.

A lot of our best players were down last week, they should have come out this week breathing fire and bullying the bulldogs kids at every opportunity.

Too many players trying to do flashy things but unwilling to just do the simple stuff; hit targets, tackle, kick the simplest shots at goal.

When Green and Stewart are our most dangerous forwards over three rounds, with the forward-line we have, something isn’t right.

Hooker looked good swinging back, I’d like to see him play that role more often when we’re struggling with the high balls. Give Goddard a run on the ball, push Stringer to FF.

Thank god Smith and Fantasia want to harass and tackle, no one else does if it involves going out of their way apparently.

Guys like Guelfi, Redman, Ridley, McNiece, Clarke, and Laverde surely must be close to getting a game.

With Myers I will disagree with many here and say I thought he was okay, he wasn't great but then none of the midfield was that good, as someone above wrote we need to stop playing guys out of position, Stringer and Langford are forwards although Stringer looks okay at the center bounces.

If we are not going to move Hooker back then maybe Myers needs to play on half back with his lovely long kick which could help to create because currently the backline is not that creative although both McKenna and Saad do try to fire things up.

I like what you're saying and understand what you're saying... but then you hear about "the system" and players who "play their roles to perfection" and then I'm just straight up confused. Need a solid game plan without stifling their talents or confusing them or causing them to become so preoccupied with it they forget how to football.

Joe’s goal kicking confidence is so low again, he’s in two minds...deep down wants to hand it off. Did kick a nice one 3rd Q.

Joe's field kicking is also way off, was a strength in previous seasons but this season has been very ordinary

Why are they kicking so bad at the moment? So many passages of play being undone by a missed kick.

I'm at a loss as to how a team of professionals can rock up and be so mentally unprepared. Blind Freddy knew the Dogs were going to bring the pain, why were we so unprepared?

That should've been a 10+ goal belting, the scoreboard flatters us. Get the mouthguards out this week and flog them, they should be pretty fresh after watching the Dogs run around all day.

Please media, flame the club and prick some egos this week.

Woosha in the presser talking about players that don't adopt to the "new" playing style will be putting their spots in jeapordy.
Don't really recall him talking too much about dropping players, hopefully that means he is serious.

He also mentioned "confused" and "learning" a lot, so I wouldn't read too much into the spin. Actions count, and I'd be pretty sure that the new "playing style" still involves running, harassing and tackling effectively!

It’s difficult to know how to read the first three weeks from 20,000km away and not being able to watch any games. I suppose I am astonished at the side getting within 16 and 21 points in consecutive weeks with such low numbers from the midfield and what seems like incredibly poor decision making, field kicking and marking?

20,000 reasons to stay where you are

Coaching- Why is he so scared to move players around? It's actually starting to worry me, and I was saying this last year too.

All in all it's 3 rounds in, we have lost two games we should have won and won a game we should have lost. It's and Essendon side we have seen many seasons before and sadly it looks to be the same yet again. We seriously need a change.
I agree with your whole post, but this area in particular nails it for mine; we could be so much smarter with the positions we allocate our players.

So many times, so many... They get their arms up in the tackle and shovel a handball sideways to the next guy, then the next...no matter how many tackles we stuck they just had a chain of arm free handballs til they escaped. Pure work rate.

Then you get our turn... guys like Conor so interested in getting to his post kick position for the give and go sling he misses the original kick in a rush and is out of position for the rebound.
