Round 3 trades

Does anyone else think they should increase it 3 trades per round?

Yes luck is a part of the game but more and over the last couple of years ive have been getting put behind the 8 ball because of the 2 trade limit.
I wouldn't mind it if there was no limit to the number of trades per round, but still 30 for the season. Not sure if it presents any problems that way, although I might be out of trades before round 3.

First thought there was Doc Reid, took me a minute to realize you meant the fast bowler. #trapforyoungplayers #brothersfromanothermother

Do yourself a favour whipper snapper- have a listen to the twelfth man cd where Bruce Reid breaks in half. Then you'll know what I mean. ;)

Can someone help a first timer out?
WRT trades and their value? I could easily trade any of barlow, rocky, seedsman. Looking at option to get in JJ, Hall or possible Zaha (POD).
No real "need" to trade as I can cover rocky and barlow may come good.
Guess my question is when should you be using trades and for what (as a general rule), and how many do you need in the bank for the pointy end of the year?
Any help appreciated :)

There are differing opinions on trades and it partially depends on the strategy your using. Mid price teams will swap underperformers for inform players, guns and rookies will try and hold guns while only trading in cash producers.
Some generally agreed upon guides for trades are:

A trade is worth approx 100K. So for you trade a dropping player for a rising player there needs to be at 100K of profit in it for you long term.

You don't trade premo's unless they have a long term injury, or their role in the team has changed. The first part is easy, the second part is harder( Barlow-has he become a spud, or has a he got a spud role......)

Usually people make a burst of corrective trades at this time of the season, catching high scoring rookies they have missed and dropping stinky premos before their price drops.

If you are going for an overall victory you will will probably have to use all your trades early and hope you get lucky with injuries. If your going for a league win you want to save a minimum of 2 trades for finals, though 4 is much better.

None of these are "rules" rather just tips that help you avoid burning trades without benefiting your team long term.

Hope that helps!

Its just helpful when u have a very unluckly week.
Actually prefer it restricted to two, acts as a brake against going too hard too early.

Yeah well with the 30 limit you would still have to pace yourself. If you picked most of the right rookies this year for example, you wouldnt make that extra trade as you would be costing yourself later on.

Or another Idea would be like a get out of jail free card for 1 or 2 rounds a year were u could activate 3 trades for that round only and you choose when to use it.

Would be interesting if the top players had that up their sleeve in the later rounds too.

Haha I like that idea but yeah lot of people would be down to 10 trades before rnd 5 lol

Thanks for taking the time to reply mate! Would like a high overall finish but mainly going for league wins. Id say my structure is mainly guns and rookies with a few mid pricers in there i.e. Seedsman (may regret him) and Libba, B crouch, Wells.

With this new info would you suggest trading for the likely guns in JJ and Hall?

Could Zaha as a POD and potential Money maker before upgrade to premo be a good consideration?

Thanks again mate

OK, would you do:

Rocky -> Parker
Barlow -> Zorro

Or

Barlow -> Hall
Rocky -> R. Gray
Option 2, prefer Gray over Parker personally and with Swallow and O'Meara still out for a while to come, Hall will hopefully keep his production up. Nothing wrong with 1, though.

My team is so screwed at this point im actually thinking of holding onto barlow, rich, rocky, gresham praying for the best and saving the trades in the hope of making up ground later in the year, because im usually out of trades at about rnd 15 anyway.

Given the amount of people dumping Barlow is it safe to assume he will be a solid captain choice next week? Should got at least 140 :D

On current form Hall is almost a must have. I think JJ will slow down midseason.
Im planning on bringing in JJ for Barlow. I would be happy holding Barlow as I think he will pick up again when freo remembers how to play footy, but im prepared gamble on JJ and Barlow is the player im the most worried about in my team. Also I have all the rooks so its pretty much a luxury trade(which im sure i will regret come finals time).
If you grab Zaharakis your grabbing him as a keeper so his money production is irrelevant.
At this stage the most important thing is making sure you have the most productive rookies.

Current line up as below, possibly thinking of

Barlow>Johannisen (via McD-T)
and/or
Rockliff>Parker

Would also make me $99k

Think I've done pretty well with rookies, and just playing for league wins. Not sure if it is worth trading at all, or if I should just hold out and hope Barlow/Rocky come good.

Anyone care to offer feedback?

I managed to jag the most relevant rookies, maybe only missed hewett, parish and dea.
Might treat myself with a luxury trade too.
