Autopsy Round 4, 2024: Richmond v St.Kilda

This is what supporters miss. That the opposition aren't witches hats and are trying to win.
Interesting Lyon praising Stocker who was put on Bolton and quelled him somewhat in the second.
Richmond had 6 marks inside 50 in the first and then only four for the rest of the match
We slaughtered our set shots in the first, then stopped Richmond scoring for the rest of the game.
Was a scrappy game but was a win we needed.

Love how RTB just reels off the stats.

And also, the aliens got the win 🤣
( what is the guy on?)

If you read carefully I said “most.”
Stocker got delisted too, and look at what he does for us.
Carlton have a very strong midfield, but when he had the chance last year he played very well for them.
He’s what we lack. Also adds to the mid rotations.
I wouldn’t be turning up your nose at him just yet. Might bite you in the bum.
The Saints obviously see something in him otherwise wouldn’t have got him.
Agree - if Dow can improve like Stocker has under RTB we will have a decent midfielder.

I thought Stocker was no good - I was wrong.

That was a tough watch.

But as others have said, that is not an AFL standard ground.
I don't give a damn about gather round. We should not be sent to that greyhound track backwater for an AFL game for premiership points ever again.

Steel good. Sinc's improving. Nas.

Anyone noticed Wilson watches the bounce of the ball a bit much at times. Half a second too slow instead of just getting it?

1 goal in a half
Yes. Thank you. We are all aware of how putrid it was.
At one stage it looked like a margin of 60+.

However, although it may not have reached any great heights, the boys showed backbone, pulled it back and got the 4 points.

We should all move on.

Nearly cost us when he didn’t track the bounce of the ball late in the last in D50.

But it will come with time. He is probably use to that additional time he had in juniors

Great premiership qtr with 6 goals. Richmond were blown, we kicked the first in the last qtr then put the game to sleep.

Will be interesting to watch the replay ti see how they stopped Richmond scoring for three qtrs.

our back line did a good job - Battle was brilliant - 25 disposals and 13 marks and Wilkie is getting back to his best.

He wasn't the only one, that first half had people forgetting their opponent existed, running over the ball and tripping over their own feet, Wilson was one of those that were late to a stoppage for whatever reason. It'll come to him in time, you kinda expect most new players to hyper focus on the ball a bit really.

I think you're right. He has done it at least once in every game so far. Needs to get rid of it.

Actually this game might just wake them up - they know they didn't bring what was required in the first half and brought what was required in the 2nd half.

I actually thought both teams were swept up in the whole country footy theme and playing like country footballers for authenticity. I'm struggling to unsee some things but I will do my best to move on.

How's Max King's kicking for goal..
Sorry I have Tourette SynSyndrome...that just came out...I'll move on now

If Sharman has million fans, then I'm one of them.
If Sharman has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE.
If Sharman has no fans, that means I'm dead.

You can count me into the Sharman fan club, he is still built like a rake and needs to spend some more time in the gym but he has a crack.

He's one of our few players that had a crack in the first half and tried hard all day, he isn't at Wood's swingman level but he's our next best.

So when a player drops simple chest marks how is that the blame of the ground, missed tackles, shanked kicking, absolutely embarrassing set shots for goal by our marques forward none the less, one goal in half, how is that that the fault of the grass you play on, and all playing for a coach who's mantra is any ground, any time...

We were really poor in the first quarter.
Dominated the next two quarters.
Broke even in the last and won the game.

What do you some people expect?

The other team is allowed to crack in and make it a contest.

Wins don't happen by imagining them.
I expect some confidence when we are shooting for goal -currently i have none with any player on the set shot-we pl
ay such wasteful footy

I get the sense that Ross has some philosophical objection to the sub.
Coaches are set objectives every year , I remember they told Ratten they wanted youth brought into the team for development - Ross is most probably doing the same but in all reality he has no other option until we start to get a few players back from injury.
Dow
Windhager
Crouch
Webster
Howard
Clark
Henry
Wood
Hayes ?

I fully expect if any of these guys were available the sub would of been used - bringing on a rookie in a close game is really a gamble he most probably didn't want to make.

The list I wrote above could be all in the team by the end of the season - that's 9 changes to this current team.
