I find it ironic that the plaudits for Ginnivan fail to acknowledge he was so ineffectual, that Hardwick needed to be moved to give the Hawks some potency in attack.
Mitchell in doing so was making a statement about Ginnivan - and not a very flattering one.
I think your reading too much into it with that last line but overall agree with your point.

Not sure why there’s a carry on about Ginnivan when he was shown up in a quarter by a defender moved forward.

Yeah,I don’t know what the obsession with Ginnivan is all about .He was neither here nor there in that game, and was far from the most influential player on the ground.

Is Ginni getting plaudits? He'll be back to persona non grata with the umpires within a month and then down into the ressies before the year is out.

Another one that comes to mind is Round 2 2010 vs Melbourne.

Average winning margin of 0.5 points v Melbourne that year, only bested by the loss to the Lions who iirc barely scraped another win together after that stage. 😂

It happens, even in dominant years but unfortunately with the season already on the line given our .250 record coming in it’s not promising for our 2024.

I went to that game. Was behind the goals on tier 1 right where the play was at the end of the game. Literally had a panic attack outside the stadium.

Pessimist has wins that feel like losses
Optimist has losses that feel like wins (this has never been seen on BF)
Realist - a wins a win.
There’s dishonourable wins the same way there’s honourable losses. You’re kidding yourself if you think we should be sunshine and rainbows on the back of that performance.

All is not well but lost enough games that should have won over the years to appreciate even the scappiest of wins.
We’re better positioned to fight another day than we could have been (agreeing with you btw).

Teams will think twice about tagging Daicos and leaving De Goey.

Said it weeks ago, say it again…

No longer a top 4 team.

Time to phase out some of the old heads and persevere more with some of the kids
I think by year end we can be. Six teams going for 4 spots.

From what I have watched Melbourne is playing the best football. But is May going to stay injury free? Ditto Gawn. It's a long season.

GWS look great but slightly skewed by quality of opponents thus far. I want to see them against Sydney, Melbourne, Port, Carlton and Geelong. But Hogan is in supreme form at the moment.

Geelong look great at times - i dont think they are top 4 quality but might make it after their great start. They absorb pressure on a par with Melbourne.

Carlton look great at times but often I wonder why teams don't put more time into Saad. He repels so many attacks and creates so many. Have a tough period coming up so should have a better gauge then.

Port look great but might be skewed by their fixtures this far.

So I think its not impossible. But would be nice to have a dominant forward like Hawkins, Cameron, Curnow, Hogan.

And if Melbourne, Carlton, Geelong occupy top 2 then mcg Prelim works nicely.

But a long way to go.
