I think the most interesting selection option this week is Bews as an emergency ahead of GHS - I'm not surprised to see that GHS wasn't recalled to the senior team, but I am surprised that he has been dropped as an emergency and replaced by Bews.

You and me both. All reports of Jed's recent efforts have been fairly underwhelming. Yet he gets named in the 25 while the Hyphen (who apparently racked up another 'best on' in the twos on the weekend) misses out completely.

Seems strange to me, anyway. Perhaps one of the other smaller defensive options is under an injury cloud?

Arhh... Things are gonna get real interesting IF scooter gets fit and returns to his best form. Our coach seems to play a high value on speed... (no GHS) so if and when he gets fit and gets mobile..then we will have some spinning wheel fun on Thur night.

Our old coach the other night on Foxfooty when asked about Danger and Selwood basically said yeah thats ok but you need 12 mids. Not in love with the way we have gone about it I think (perhaps its different to what he did??)...anyway a fit and mobile Scooter is in our best 12 mids for sure.
Who do you reckon has 12 mids?

Perhaps. Will depend on whether we can have the current midfield group (and hopefully Menegola) also available for selection at that point in time.

If we can, I agree that we'll get our best insight yet into the actual pecking order for spots down at the Cattery.

I have not done a study of it... it was BThompsons statement. Well I guess it would have to be Haw.
Yep, almost. How many do you reckon we have?
Selwood x2, Dangerfield, Blix, Lang, Murdo, Cockatoo, Guthrie, Bartel, Motlop, Duncan, Caddy-plenty? ( and GHS, Cowan, Menegola..)
Maybe everyone has about that number but its dependent on the quality. Maybe Thompson meant that?

media reports or BF reports?

Maybe they are inaccurate or unaware what Jed is being judged on. I think Ruggles into the team is a signal of intent that the super tall defensive structure is losing its appeal at the selection table. Bews being named is likely because Enright is out. Lose a small and Jed is in, a tall and Kolo. Mid or forward and in comes Lincoln.

It looks disrespectful and gives rise to claims of taking it easy if you say you are resting 3 players. I don't expect Mcarthy to play twos. He is not dropped. He has had a huge 6 months getting back. A rest will be good for him.

See what you mean but I don't give a shit. If McCarthy is being rested just say so. The reasoning you have given is totally understandable. Or give the old soreness/illness injury. Saying omitted only to bring in Murdoch to play alongside Cockatoo (all with a similar role/position) is not so understandable.

McCarthy has a longer injury history than Kersten - chances are the club decided on the back of the 6-day break to give him a rest if that is an option, but by naming him as an emergency he is able to play should someone else pull out. If we say he is managed/rested, it makes it very hard to name him as an emergency and have him available for selection if he is then a required played.

I'm sure the players are all aware of the reasons for their omissions from the team and for those who are being rested/managed, but have something different written beside their name, I'm sure they aren't too worried about it at all.
I see where you're coming from but if he is a late in and isn't right then there's a risk of him getting injured. If he's not right don't name him anywhere.

I actually think he's been dropped.

Will be interesting if domsy is taken to the cleaners by daniher

If that is so, we have nobody better, but not many teams have a ready made defender to cope with a leaping, mobile, 200+ cm KF. He is our best bet.

Daniher unlikely to see enough of it for that to happen. Even if he did I think Lonergan would go as well on him as any defender in the league due to his height, length and experience.

Former names include Demoncat and probably the one you'll recognise... cats2rise

Do you have a dossier on all the BF contributors?

Sounds like the sheep and the whips and the farmer market etc will be quite a show..be interested what reaction it all gets.
Perhaps they should have got a rep team of Netballer's from Geelong and Ess to make it really like a local game.
Im not sure that Ess in its current status will ensure a big game attendance but if they can make it work , good on them.
Well I'm half tempted to take the family for the markets, whips etc.
And other than Auskick, we haven't gone to a game for 2 years.

I still don't see why, in normal circumstances, blokes would need to be rested for Rd 4 - only 3 games into a 21-game season, when there is a full week between Rds 4 & 5.
I see it as a positive, and our MC is responding to the player, his history, age, and ALL the variables we supporters are not privy to.
I love the concept of sequential and clever management of players with age/ previous issues, anytime.

Those who've been to the recent practice games haven't been that impressed. And I'm fairly sure he hasn't been heavily featured in the 'bests' lists published each week either.

Agree that Jed will be in for a small at the back, if required. But why would there not be a place for George as the mid replacement option? Surely the best-performed in that role of the available options.

Maybe this does really signal how clearly his lack of pace is going to count against him in the selection mix right now. If he can't push Jimmy out (who's started the year very solidly, I'd say), perhaps he's destined for a lot of seconds footy in 2016 unless injury strikes the midfield group.

Where the hell did you come from 13000 posts and this is the first time I've see you here?
I've been here since 2005 or so, thank you very much ;)

I know the field view doesn't usually mean too much but hope Cockatoo in the followers is actually true & he does line up next to Selwood & Danger to start the game. Would love for him to get some good game time in the centre against a lesser quality midfield :thumbsu:
