Great to have Youngy back and Osborne in.

Also I'm keen to see how WhiteX goes, we haven't seen him for a while and forget how darn good the kid is.

Looks like a pretty small team on paper, big Renouf will have to shoulder the load once again. Great experience for the lad.

We are going to miss gibbo and buddy this week but our ins are also quality. I still think we are a big chance to roll the Pies even with the lack of talls, we always play well against them.

Gilham ? Schoey ? Renouf ? Roughead ?

I suppose 4 is still a few too few but we have a fair good quadrant of mid-tallish players :thumbsu:

And the pies aren't big either. I though Geelong having a few inches on the Hawks all over the ground cost them in that game but this game should be ok.

Need to beat the pies by smashing them. We are missing Sewell big time in that regard but hopefully he is not far away.

Will be great to see Young running around. We need outside running in a massive way too.

Fine with the ins and outs, but how will our rucking problem - ie. Renouf tiring late in the game - be addressed any differently this week? Is this just sheer bloody stubborness on Clarko's part?

Agree, Saturday night at the 'G, bit of dew around and a swirling wind, just about every Collingwood tall struggling - it's not a recipe for big marking dominance.

Jockey fight, but horses for courses - I'm not jumping up and down with incandescent rage.

Every game Suzie gets under his belt will only make him better, it's time to give Jolly a bit of comeuppance.

Looking at the 'in's - it seems we have some more speed in the midfield.

In the 4th Qtr, whilst Renouf may tire in the ruck, our midfield should be firing - delivering laces out to our shortened forward line.

Cyril for a bag of 5.

Doesnt matter how much the midfield is firing in the last quarter if we continually see Jolly tap it to swan hand ball to didak - goal

I would've thought Clarko would learn from the debacle in round 2 last year and the last 2 weeks. Hopefully we can kick straight early and get a decent lead early because make no mistake they will be coming hard in the last quarter and a half.

Kaylor Thomson must be filthy. Hopefully he has another best on ground for BH and gets in the week after.

It seems as always you have to be able to use the ball when you get it at HFC. If u don't u wont get a gig. JKT was great at getting it but burnt it quite a few times. His disposal was average compared both the other ins in Young and Whitecross.

I think Whitecross is in to cover the plethora of small forwards that collingwood has. He also adds to our run. All in all like most i am surprised that Lisle is not in but i think i know where they are coming from. It might cold, windy and rainy night (don't know the forecast) but with that and the fact that Collingwood aren't terribly tall themselves we have gone in with a strategy to run them off their legs.

I for one can't wait bring it on

JKT is a wingman/flanker right? He doesn;t come in for a stopping backman, especially 6 days after Gibson has gone down.

For JKT to get a game this week he has to jump over either Young, Lewis, Bateman, Birchall, Ellis, Osborne etc. Maybe he could have come in instead of Whitecross but that is the only option really.

Our forward line is not shorter when you consider that this year Franklin has been a short man playing in a tall man's body. Peterson at 183 will be just as good in the air as Franklin at 196 cms.

I hope Buddy can take some marks using his height when he comes back.

Just a follow up to my earlier post - how much better would you feel about our chances with the following replacements:

Hawks:
Stratton: 1 out for Gibson: 68 games
Peterson: 3 out for Franklin: 104 games
Moss: 12 out for Sewell: 104 games
Whitecross: 13 out for Burgoyne: 157 games
Morton: 20 out for Simon Taylor: 86 games
Total: 49

We'd be scary with that much more experience on the park. Starting to understand our fade-outs a bit better on close inspection.

I think it's pretty clear from this selected side that the coaches don't agree that our lack of a 2nd ruck has cost us the games. Either that or the calibre of any replacement ruck we could currently field would overall make us worse rather than better on balance. Very interesting considering Lisle can play forward as well with Bud missing.

The footage the media's been highlighting since the Cats game is of Ottens tapping to Bartel, Ablett in Q4. Is it possible they think winning the tap is one thing, but getting the clearance is another?

While I don't have a problem with the In's for some reason I thought Lisle must have been a shoe in. All week in numerous threads all I saw was Lisle, Lisle, Lisle - obviously this has been wishful thinking on supporters part.

Given that there are some excellent posters on this board with what appears to be good knowledge can they give some info as to what the delay is in having Lisle in even if its just to rest Susie for 5 minutes in each quarter and little else.

Not sure if it's just me - but I like to check the experience of the bottom 5 of each team to get an idea of how deep we bat and how we'll run out the game compared to the opposition.

Hawks:
Stratton: 1
Peterson: 3
Moss: 12
Whitecross: 13
Morton: 20
Total: 49

Collingwood:
Toovey: 44
Sidebottom: 14
Beams: 20
Wellingham: 31
McCaffer: 6
Total 115

Makes me a little nervous about our ability to run out the game. Experience is just one variable - but I'd feel more confident if we had more of it.

Opps, forgot Schoey as well.

Agreed in part. Remember Stratton is an experienced recruit so probably has the body of a 30 - 40 game player.

Maybe ahead of Moss
