Forwards named on the field:
1. Wright
2. Phillips
3. Martin
4. Perkins
5. Guelfi
6. Waterman

Baldwin is probably an emergency. Concussed last week, isn't likely to come in after a week not playing and would be competing with Phillips for a tall forward spot anyway, Phillips is named on the field.

Wanganeen probably starts on the bench and Smith takes Snelling's spot (also on the bench), so the sub-vest is available.

Midfielders named on the field:
1. Parish
2. Shiel
3. McGrath
4. Cox (wing)
5. Durham (wing)

Have one bench spot, one emergency and one sub vest left for the midfield, with Caldwell, Cutler, Ham and Hobbs on the extended bench.

Either Caldwell or Ham comes out for Cox, and the other takes the sub vest – money would be on Caldwell playing and Ham as the sub, leaving Hobbs as the emergency (unless you're betting on a sub debut).

Named defence:
1. Ridley
2. Laverde
3. Kelly
4. Heppell
5. Redman
6. Hind

We have a bench spot and an emergency spot left in defence, but the only defender on the extended bench is Zerk-Thatcher.

Cutler has played as a defender before, though not in the same role, and was previously on the wing which is now held by Durham. He is usually higher in the pecking order than Zerk, and was only left out due to H&S protocols, but Zerk is holding down Stewart's role as a key defender while Stewart is injured, which Cutler can't do.

So it may depend on match-ups, possibly Ridley can play Stewart's role and Cutler plays Ridley's, with Zerk as the emergency, or Zerk plays and Cutler is the emergency. 🤷‍♀️

So that would leave it as;

FB: Dyson Heppell (C), Jayden Laverde, Jake Kelly
HB: Nick Hind, Jordan Ridley, Mason Redman
C: Sam Durham, Andrew McGrath, Nik Cox
HF: Archie Perkins, Alec Waterman, Nic Martin
FF: Andrew Phillips, Peter Wright, Matt Guelfi
Fol: Sam Draper, Dylan Shiel, Darcy Parish
Bench: Jye Caldwell (mid), Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (def), Devon Smith (wing/fwd), Tex Wanganeen (fwd)

Emergencies: Brayden Ham (sub), Tom Cutler, Ben Hobbs, Kaine Baldwin

Ins: Cox, Smith (sub)
Outs: Ham (sub), Snelling (inj)

** If Cutler doesn't play he may also be the sub in lieu of Ham.

If Wanganeen is dropped for Smith and Cutler comes in for Ham, then Ham as the sub, we have no emergency for defence.

So then the back up plan if a defender goes down would have to be a re-shuffle, Cutler is I think the only (kind of) tall player who can play in defence for e.g. Heppell, or you push McGrath back for a small.

McGrath back would probably bring in Hobbs, Cutler would bring in Ham, I suppose.

Other possibility would be Guelfi back instead of McGrath, which brings Ham into the forward line for Guelfi.

We're distinctively undersized compared with Taberner and Lobb.

Will be a tough game. Would have liked to see us persist with Tex until tippa is ready anyway. Hope Hobbs gets a run of a few games, at least until Merrett, stringer, Snelling or langford are close and replace him. We don't get much dropping Tex, Hobbs for Smith, cutlers, ham.

If we lose do we call it for the year and have development the focus

Seems like both teams are younger and less experienced.
