North will try and play this game on their own terms and turn this into a slog/contested game. Marvel stadiums shape will help them close down the space we were able to exploit at the MCG.

I imagine they will condense the field like they did against Adelaide and minimise the amount of ball that reaches the outside.

Provided we stay in the game until half time, i expect we will be able to run away with it as the second half rolls on and their lack of runners other than Hall, Higgins and Polec catch up to them.

You are correct that North will employ a lock down defensive strategy to nullify Essendon's attack, I'm not sure how well it will work if the Bombers successfully generate run through the middle.

Since the Round 1 & 2 debacles, we have effectively deployed a man-on-man zone at times instead of a set zone/press defence, this caught Hawthorn out in the first quarter and they couldn't generate run off half back at all. It was also combined with an unusual display of skill from North for the first 30 minutes where we hit short targets and made frequent switches working up the ground ala the current Collingwood/Bulldogs style

Clarko being Clarko, he realised he had planned for North to try to run through his defense, got more aggressive and pushed his zone up higher which eventually forced us to crumble with skill errors. Make no mistake though, without the terrible inaccuracy in the 3rd Q we would have still been in that game until the death.

I expect Essendon to win this game by 3-4 goals but like 2018, we do have some new players who are capable of match winning performances. Let's look at the midfield, we all know what we will get from Cunnington, Goldstein & Higgins but Hall and Polec are starting to gel with the side, LDU is emerging, Jed Anderson's pressure is bordering on ridiculous and Ahern is a 10 gamer who has shown he could be anything. Add in Dumont who has a future and it is a fairly complete midfield unit that has its share of good days.

That being said, none of our starting 4 mids are "elite runners", our forward line has been inaccurate and dysfunctional so far in 2019 and if Essendon produce run like they did vs Brisbane last week, we will struggle to keep up.

Think it's a misconception all we can do is sling and go fast, when our game is on, one thing that is added is some pretty manic pressure causing turnovers.

He has a deep cut on his knee according to the injury report but idk if that's what's infected.
Zaharakis was hospitalised on Tuesday for treatment on a cut on his knee that he suffered during the Bombers' 47-point win over the Brisbane Lions at the MCG.
Despite suffering the cut, the 29-year-old was bandaged up and was able to run out the remainder of the match, but saw the laceration become infected in the following days.

"While the Bombers are understood to be monitoring the situation closely, the club is expecting Zaharakis to make a full recovery in time for Friday's clash."

Herald Sun posted another one 8 minutes ago, so that's two reports of it so far. I can't open the herald sun one but it looks like it's a repeat of the same info in the nine one.

The flogs on the Norf board are bloody chirpy after winning one game against a very average Adelaide side.
I don't think they like me very much. I wonder why?

That Adelaide side was far below average

An average Adelaide side would beat norf by 30 minimum

By far the worst supporter base out there, hope we flog them

I live in Curzon Street, two blocks from their home base, I go for a walk each day, sometimes I see them at training. The fans there just constantly ragging on players and the coach. Have no shame.

Didn't daw intercept lots of our forward entries last year?
Probably but we had a knack for making bog average defenders look like superstars with our delivery into the forward line last year. We did it against the Hawks so well that people started to think Ben Stratton was actually a good defender.

Like I get what you're saying but Ben Stratton pretty much walks into every side in the comp.

As I skimmed through this I thought I read, "Add in Dumont who has furniture and it is a fairly complete unit that has its share of good days." I didn't even flinch and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

I mean, have a look at it.
