His disposal really is killing us though

It is poor, but it didnt hurt tonight, no ones disposal was good tonight (except Lenny)

Edit- If Clint only has 10 touches but lays 10 tackles and shuts out his opponent he will be in our best internally every week...

Got the points but had to bust a gut.
Melbourne had a real crack lets be honest.

Yep that was a good win in tough conditions and Melbourne to their credit came to play and had a real crack all night.

Some gutsy efforts tonight, none moreso than Dal Santo, people that call him a soft outside player should have a good look at his game tonight. He did the hard yards in the clinches all night along with Lenny and was instrumental in getting us over the line. BOG for mine.

Much better last quarter, swung it around almost immediately as Melb just ran out of puff and became the hunted, save for their backline which were solid and a credit to them. Also nice to see BJ in the forward line, strong body in a mood to crash and bash set up some decent pressure to sustain that time in the forward half of the ground, eventually everything breaks and you just have to take your chances, by and large we did just enough.

Absolute truck load to work on still, but good signs that Wilkes came in seamlessly and we became multi-focused going forward, next work is stoppages! :D

Melbourne had a real crack tonight and were actually quite good in conditions that suited them and don't suit us. Have a feeling they would have given most teams a scare tonight.

If you had have told me before the game that we would only win by that much, I would've been disappointed but, all things considered, I think a win like that and a tough body-on-body type hit-out is a good preparation for the nightmare month ahead. :thumbsu:

Wow, everyone just overeacted a little with Wilkes being subbed off.

Won the match, it was excellent coaching by Watters IMO, and a very gutsy move :thumbsu:

He alluded that the attempt to win was not going to pretty, it was stoppages, contested footy, packs around the footy, locking it in at all costs.

Polo on actually helped the win IMO.

I don't buy the 'it must of been preplanned' as he knew the only way to get a win was to hold on, and have as many big bodies around the packs as possible.

Game day coach, I like it.

I watched Dal closey tonight cause I had $50 on him to get most disposals tonight (thanks Nicky!) and on the back of that performance you cant call him just an outside played. He was at almost every stoppage and was getting the hard ball. Great game.

lolno
Subbing Wilkes off is not what won the match.
Lenny Hayes is what won the match.
We would've been much better off with Wilkes on than Polo
