If Dunstan gets dropped I'll bare my b..m on Bourke street before the game.

Not only does Dunstan have no ability to get the ball as a midfielder, his goalkicking is atrocious. He needs to go to Sandy until he learns to get the ball and not crap himself when he gets a shot at goal. Time for Minch to play midfield. In the firsts.

Massive game. With Hawthorn the week after, a win would give us a great chance to go 4-2, from which we can build to finals.

Think Menegola will be out - considering he got 30-odd touches today that's a big loss for them. The sling looked bad.

Steven in will help. I have no doubt we can win this but we will have to do one thing that we haven't managed all season.

Kick straight!
Needto kick straight. If not we won't have a chance

OUT: Armitage (inj.), Lonie, Dunstan (omit)
IN: Stevens Steven Minchington.

I like your form here Barrels. We need the bigger body mid in Koby against the Cats. Lonie has added nothing to the side in the last 2 weeks IMO. Paddy needs more time in the VFL. Funny how the number 3 pick (Brayshaw) from the same year is also in VFL without the spotlight that Paddy gets.

Out - Armo and Dunstan
In - Minch and Stevens

If Jacky Steven is fit then he is in instead of Koby. Either way Meatball plays. If 28 touches and 4 goals as a mid doesn't get you in the seniors then 'Reward for effort' is dead.

It's been dead for years, if you don't get a break through form or injury you just have to keep plugging away in the VFL. Lonie would be unlucky to lose his spot and I'm not sure they would drop Long after one game either. I reckon Armo sounds like he's out and Steven would be the walk up replacement but if he's still not right Stevens probably gets the nod as we need hard nut mids against Geelong, he might be still recovering too though. I doubt they give Minch a go as a mid at senior level for some reason only the club knows.

Has been thereabouts with his form.

I'm on the cusp of giving up on Dunstan. Not totally, but I'd rather see Koby be given an extended run and let Luke develop at Sandy.

I'm starting to get a grip on the way we play, guys who commit themselves to pressure acts and play their role will get picked regardless of stats and both those guys are excellent at attacking the ball carrier. I have probably been rating Dustan's out put on stats rather than impact and realistically while we haven't got a ton of mids kicking the door down he probably holds that spot until we recruit a gun mid.

Lonie is excellent at getting to the next player then going after the next link player, he is a very good at causing the opposition to make mistakes under pressure. Minch has very good pressure too but isn't as intense or as mobile/ speedy. His tackles probably stick better but a bit prone to effecting one contest not several in a chain.

Koby would be getting pretty close to Dunstan's spot. We brought in Koby to play first team football, I have no doubt about that. Dunstan's defensive work has been great, but his attacking output lacking.

I'd be pretty happy with Steven, Stevens in for Armo, Dunstan.

Another who may be under pressure is Mav.

Probably not, but he should be.

I love Mav but he's been sloppy and off the boil so far this season.

The main problem with Dunstan's game on Sunday imo is he was almost worried out of winning the ball, he got his hands to a lot of loose balls in the pack but just couldn't collect from what looked like to be pretty minimal pressure. For a purely inside mid that can't really do much else at all, that just can't be happening, Koby has much better exposed form at AFL level so definitely think he makes us better if he comes in for Dunstan.

Steven back will be a godsend, think our midfield performances over the last couple of weeks have shown he's our most important player ahead of Roo, nearly beat west coast over there without Roo and whilst Steven wasn't great in that game, can't see our midfield getting close to them without Steven.

Underrated post

As i said before, after we beat Geelong it's gonna be great seeing the media start to laud us, and the best thing will be serial haters like Brereton and Barrett will be playing down our form, by dint of the poor oppo and Geelong not being as good as position suggests, and they'll look like the biggest sour faced losers, even though they'll be correct.

IMHO

Safe: Hickey, Carlisle, Gresham, Ross, Acres, Steele, Montagna, Riewoldt, Lonie, Geary, Billings, Newnes, Roberton, Armitage (if fit), Brown, Bruce, Membrey, Webster, Weller.

Possible outs: Dunstan, Long, Gilbert.

Possible ins: Steven, Minchington, Savage, McCartin.

I think Lonie is safe - his repeat pressure acts are elite. Dunstan's numbers are low, but I'm willing to concede the coaching staff see something I don't see. Either way he also kicks goals.

I liked what I saw from Long - he's a little bit too unselfish, but he has class. But did he really do enough to get carried for another game? Certainly not ahead of a fit Jack Steven. He'll be very good, but he needs to build a tank.

Gilbert continues to confound. Hasn't made too many mistakes yet, but someone needs to be pushed out.

At the moment I would think it'll be Steven for Long and that's it.

Whilst Hickey isn't setting the world on fire, neither is Longer in the VFL. Hickey isn't playing poorly enough to be dropped when Longer isn't even banging down the door.

With Gawn going down, Goldy battling with Preuss, Grundy is in pole position to be AA ruck in 2017. Hickey had a poor first half but he probably close to broke even in the second half.

Hickey for Longer is no chance at this stage.

Koby Stevens can also play that forward pocket pressure player, which means Lonie might be out as stiff as that is you can't carry to many midget type players ideally Gresham being the only real small .

Most top sides don't carry 170 to 174cm type players they get pushed off the ball to easy and can't go through the middle like they used to.

Why is minchinton in before Sinclair? I haven't paid too much attention to the Vfl side but by all reports Sinclair has been best player over the last month. Granted Minchinton is a good player and had a great game but he hasn't even been mentioned up until this week? Sinclair didn't play poorly either. I'd rather sincs over meatball because he's been more consistent with his good form

100% Sinclair comes in before Minchington. For one, Sinclair's exposed form in the AFL is much better than what Michington has shown and they play the same role. Plus, one is named Jack, so he gets bonus points for that.
