First meeting between the Hawks and Suns. Both clubs lodged their initial applications for AFLW licences back in June 2017.

Two sets of "original 8" match-ups:

- Melbourne vs GWS. The Giants pulled off an upset in their initial meeting, since then the Dees have won 5 in a row.​

- Carlton v Brisbane. The Lions have an unflattering 2-2-1 record against the Blues, with this being their first time crossing paths since January 2022.​

The Western Bulldogs are set to travel 4.7km east for their maiden appearance at Arden Street, having previously met North Melbourne twice in Tasmania, once in Footscray, and once in East Melbourne (sometimes referred to as Richmond).

Port Adelaide, in their 3rd season in the comp, are set to travel 2,118km west to face the Eagles for the 3rd time.

Given how dismal the Dees were last week (and Q4 v Freo) I'd hope there's a response against the Giants. Should be a winnable game notwithstanding the outs but not getting my hopes up. Might be a Rigoni debut which would be a silver lining.

I'm expecting the Dogs to get a reminder that there's plenty of work still to be done in this rebuild, from a undefeated North.

The eighteen tipsters across The Age and afl.com.au are unanimous for a loooot of matches this week, but fiercely divided on two of them: Thursday night's blockbuster between the Demons and Giants... and tonight's clash at the Cattery.

Fremantle's 4-1 record evidently being viewed with skepticisim, on the back of three highly unconvincing wins. But you have to give them credit for doing it without key players, however ugly:

O'Sullivan out last week, having been the star in Tighe's initial absence, they still vs St Kilda​

Certainly the Cats are getting some credit for hanging in there last week post-McDonald hamstring (kicking 5 goals in the 2nd half, compared to 0 goals in a whole game without Prespakis). If they win tonight, it might breathe some much-needed life into the final 8 race which atm is threatening to unfold in a rather drab manner.

But yes, the form lines to me kinda suggest the Dockers will just grind out another low-scoring win.

Something I haven't been thrilled hearing in numerous player interviews over the past few weeks: "Yeah the 4-day breaks are tough recovery-wise but at least we don't have to train haha"

Please be serious. Having sufficient time for ebbs and flows in training and preparation is actually kinda important. And not just from a physical perspective. No doubt in my mind Geelong didn't come into this game mentally switched on. Turned up for a light Tuesday night jog and they've got 2.7 at HT to show for it.
