2 weeks ago, the Hickey/Flynn R2/3 combo was tracking perfectly to a Grundy upgrade
Now I'm really pissed off because Flynn's missed twice, and Hickey's injury means I have to move him on.
But the $ I need for the Grundy upgrade means that I miss out on one of Fab 4 JKelly/Oliver/Neale/Bont upgrade choices at the bottom of their price cycles, and miss out on more cash gen from a L Jones downgrade.

So very tempted to bring in Oliver and Jones, for an injured Hickey and a spent Campbell.
Means my R2/3 would be Flynn and Treacy, hoping that one plays each of the next 2 weeks.

Don’t sweat about trying to nail all those mids at the very bottom of their price dip.

It’s not realistic to get that many who are bottoming out at about the same time anyway. Prick the one that is most important and make sure you get them. You’ll probably get a second one before they go up too much. And by the time you’ve bright in Grundy and two of them you’ll have other targets that you’ll want like Ridley or Danger or Titchell might have his mojo back.

This is also classic example for not following the pack.

Apart from Doch & Titch my entire Rd1 squad is cookie cutter asf and the only one of those that I've copped is Danger's suspension. Ten injuries/suspensions by Rd5 is delete team level shitty luck.

Yeah just had another look at that list, maybe 3/4 are trade INs so nawwt really following the pack, rest were calculated risks worth taking.

I wish he would come out to play, that's for sure. Always remember that day he scored 194 he was just coasting along in the first half doing nothing special, then bang, 4 goals in the second half and took the game by the scruff of the neck and dragged his rabble of a club over the line. I miss that Patty Cripps.
The weird thing is he looked good in the first half of the game against the Tiges.

Plus he has scored good SC points in the first half of a few other games (I haven’t watch any other Carlton games so not sure how he’s played).

It’s like he’s got no fitness rather than lost his ability. Seems to be failing to run games out.

I'm actually considering going Walsh instead on Neale.

Am I Crazy?

On second thoughts don't answer that. 😜
Neale has only 1 score above 100 and got it against the bottom 4 Dons in the wet, coming up against the Curnow tag. I'm happy to wait, worst case I'll pay $650k at the byes

Yeah I think I'd be more comfortable seeing a few more tons from Neale first before I'm convinced.

I already have Jelly in my mids not averaging 100 so don't really want another sub par premo mid. Walsh is averaging 116 and is $568,500 which is a great price for him still.

Cripps did have post season shoulder surgery and spent the pre-season bulking up instead of running which has done him no favours this year. I remember him being the worst runner in his draft combine but worked really hard on his running in his 2nd or 3rd preseason. Hired a fitness coach and ran up sand dunes in WA during his christmas time off. I think for "thick boys" like him he needs to focus more on running/crossfit over the preseason going forward. Petracca is sort of similar with his natuaral body shape and much worse tank, but it was good to see him doing extra running sessions with Boak somewhere in the Surf Coast during the players break before they even started pre-season. Meanwhile the only training footage I saw of Cripps at that time was in a boxing ring. Andrew Russell the Blues fitness guro has messed up Cripps' preparation 2 years in a row.

I have both and although it was great to finally get a good score from Neale it was against an Essendon team playing poor footy on the night. Reckon it's a smart play to wait on him unless you've got everything else covered

That's a good point.

Neale was playing a young Bombers side and had a 3rd gamer in Perkins playing on him too.

OK here are my trade plans...

if Clark plays:
H.Jones to L.Jones (via DPP wizardry)
Tex to Oliver (via Dunks to FWD)

if Clark does not play:
Clark to L.Jones
Tex to Oliver (via Dunks to FWD)

The following week I'll grab Macrae, then either a cheap premo (if I can afford anybody appealing) or just hold

McCreery and L. Jones playing on Sunday makes trading difficult. If we want them in, we’re going to have to trade other rookies out without knowing whether they’re definitely named or not.
Jones is not in doubt at all.

A little knock on the ankle is not going to stop the Man Child.

Perkins didn't play on him for too long. A lot of the reason Neale's numbers were better is that Bombers were smashed in the stoppages. That gave Lions first use most of the time and Neale benefitted. SC wise I'm hoping Neale is back after holding him, just hard to gauge after one game. Looks like he's improving though. (edit. heard a comment today that last week was his first week of full training, so there's that too)

Last week was the first time this season that Neale has been able to participate in all of the training sessions during the week.
