Last thing, I’ll admit I was a little sceptical of him but gosh Stocker has just got in perfectly. Some of his kicks were laser like and his toughness has been really crucial and something we’ve previously lacked. Makes u think about hat on earth was going on at Carlton.
Coffield in trouble with stocker and Nasiah so cemented now. Both can intercept and run and kick

That's fine if you drove... we usually make it work too. Yesterday wasn't one of those days.

Parking around Marvel is a pain in the arse... we only drive in when I can pinch a mate's Medallion club parking pass.
Yeh fair enough. I wouldn't have done the trip using public transport either. Was an ugly night for parking outside the ground, i just coffed up for Marvel parking to keep the old boy dry.

Yep he's been really good, plays an intelligent game, doesn't seem to panic, gets to where he should be and loves the contest. The only kick I remember him missing yesterday (3rd/4th qtr?) was to the wing/half forward where he shanked it straight to a Roo defender. If he 'd hit that target we were out and gone.

Well I was there, and the Saints supporters around us made plenty of noise!! They were groaning and laughing at our antics pretty much for the entire game!!
Well thats good. Not where I was sitting level 3 on the wing though. The only people yelling were my friend and me. The Roos supporters in front of us actually moved :)

First six weeks we looked razor sharp. Running hard, making space, handballs hitting targets. Every player was performing to the max to ensure they continued to get a game.

Against Port last week and again today there just seemed to be some sloppy skills at times....missing handball targets by half a metre, lack of forward handballs, poor decision making lack of quality execution not holding marks for that half second longer so they are paid....rather than play on.

Also we were so red hot on tackles forcing holding the ball decisions...umpires seem to be giving players an eternity to get rid of the ball JHF last week and the 720 rotation no decision on our half forward line...is negating our getting the ball from stoppage and spreading....forcing us into a slower game style.

We looked better with Sharman in the side and Pou breaking forward two bounces and the best point kicked of the year....is so exciting. He reminds me of a George Young when he arrived as a forward flanker.... however Pou is more athletic.

We seemed to have an almost game today....if our small forwards do not kick at least 5 between them we will struggle to kick more than 10 goals...and that will not take you deep into September.

King back will bring the true 50/50 contest that we all need to see. From there our smalls can be front and centre and crumb rather than having to compete for the mark.

Allows Membrey to play much higher up the ground which is where he belongs. I think having tall making wingers and hhf in Pou Owens Sharman Membrey and Wood with only King deep will create some serious headaches for most sides...starting with the Crows next week.

Caminti, Webster and Bytel can have a full run in the twos.

King in for Bytel and Sharman sub.
If Gresh is sore swap with Billings.

Adelaide are up and about and lostvin a high quality game against the Cats and on their home deck. We are so so at the moment and need to find another gear like we did in the first few rounds.

Play like we did last two weeks and we lose by 3 goals in a tight scrappy affair. Also , we keep sides to 10 goals a game reckon this week must kick 12 goals to win.

I think part of it is finding it hard to get motivated after playing a couple of big time matches against Collingwood and Carlton. Adelaide will be another test and Ross will be loving having a decent side to try to unpick.

We stopped having the element of surprise too, once sides realised what we were doing we were hunted instead of picking sides off. So far we've stood up to most sides and at least looked competitive. To me Melbourne, Brisbane, Geelong and Collingwood look the top 4 sides, we are in that next pool with the Crows, Port, Dogs, Sydney, Carlton, Bombers and maybe Freo and Suns just still in the hunt.

Ideally we keep getting wins against the teams around our level because that will have a huge say on the top 8 and could elevate us over some of those top 4 sides with some luck.

I thought Stocker was good but he had a few howler kicks that marked him down for me. He's definitely a no fuss plug and play type though. Looks like he'll be a 150 game solid player at a minimum. Been very impressed over all.

Was it closed for work or because they expected a sub 25k crowd?
parking is great these days over the weekend for Marvel. whats wrong with $5.60 car parking ?

My feeling really was that the players did not seem to have the connection out there that we saw in the first few games where everything worked. Gut running past each other for the handball receive then motoring past for the next one, deft taps to where our players would be etc. They seemed to know where their teammates would be at any one time.

I did see it once or twice on the wing, but we just weren't anywhere near as slick as we were previously. Hopefully we see that again soon.

The talk about us getting smashed in the midfield is interesting. We won clearances by 6 and contested possessions by 8.

Obviously Steele, Crouch and Ross didn't have great games yesterday but we still did reasonably well there. Actually kind of encouraging I think, especially if those guys can find form.

Seemed to give a few others time in the middle as well. Crouch and Ross were not at as many centre bounces as usual.

$5.60 parking where? Pretty sure it cost me $36 at Marvel...

I am unsure of the cost at Marvel . i only paid for that when my mum was around and she couldn't walk much.

$7 evening flat rate and $5.60 if you join up and pay by credit car.
close to king street. .

Can’t argue with the stats but what about the quality of the opposition- Kangaroos are garbage! Let’s judge against say Melbourne and Brisbane as those type of teams are the ones we need to match it with if we are any good.

Thanks Samm, will check it out in future

Two poor matches in a row, we need to lift. Play that way vrs the Crows and we will lose. The system is standing up, skills not so match. Hopfully King back will fix the forward lines inability to convert inside 50's to goals.

A small takeaway from RTBs presser was the questions the coaching group were thinking about were 'did they hit the weights too much' in the 9 day break and also did 3 training sessions, wondering did they do too much.

If that's coming to their minds in moments during the game then I'm guessing they hit them pretty hard to take advantage of the longer break. Considering the first quarter we mostly looked a little off and complacent with a couple exceptions in Byrnes and NWM then it would be a logical explanation.

Bank the 5 goal win with the extra conditioning and move on I reckon

One of the good eye openers for the coaching staff yesterday was the reappearance of our set shot missing contagion.

We hadn't seen it this year up until now where the first miss begat the next player to miss which made the next player look tight and whi then missed and then the next positively not wanting the ball in their hands.

We've all seen it for years. Good that is showed up in a game where the players went into their heads about the end result against a bottom four side.

That's something Harves, Lenny and BJ can really earn their coin with fixing. With pappa Ross providing some cuddles after BJ has moulded some Alpha behaviours in them. 🤣

Thanks the $30 saving is well worth the short walk when the weather is ok. Will lock that in for next time 👍🏻

They have two carparks one in little collins street near Exhibition and this one. both are great. and if you join up they give you 20% off their flat rate.

Well i just went to watch the Mini match replay , normally its just the hangers and goals they show but because of the garbage they both dished up they needed to show all the dropped marks and the shots missing the goals to get more than 60 seconds of vision.
The only thing that was missing was the Benny Hill music in the background

Just a silly question maybe - but wasn’t this about the period Walsh left the building? Just maybe this had an impact on preparation?
