Howard > McCartin
Carlisle > Reid
Wilkie > Blakey
Paton > Papley

Allir > Marshall
Rampe > King
Dawson / Fox? > Membrey
Geary > Lloyd

Clarke > Hill

I assume those match ups, think there will be a few headaches for Swans defence, especially if Rampe misses. They usually back him in against taller opposition though.

Don't need to get fancy with selection. Omit players with injuries and bring in the best replacements.

Out: Ross, Kent
In: Bytel, Battle

B: Paton, Howard, Wilkie
HB: Clark, Carlisle, Coffield
C: Hill, Steele, Billings
HF: Geary, Marshall, Hind
F: Butler, King, Membrey

Foll: Ryder, Gresham, Jones
Int: Battle, Bytel, Parker, Sinclair

Paton to Papley
Geary to Lloyd

Should be a straight forward win

If Ross misses I'd be inclined to give Battle 4qtrs on the wing to see what we have..

Seems a waste to have him do a pre season there and never trial it?

I'd do Billings in the Ross role, I reckon he'd be a consistent 30 touch mid and would go to another level. He and Clark were so clean Saturday night in a pressure filled game I'd love them to get more inside minutes

Why is anyone talking about making wholesale changes to a team that just beat the ladder leaders on their home deck? If you’re injured, you’re out. Otherwise we back the same players in to get the job done again.
yep! Listening to Ratts on SEN yesterday morning sounds like best avail 22 for this game especially as it’s a 7 day turnaround. We can’t take Swans lightly....got to start getting the wins where on paper we should be getting the wins.

If Rampe players, Id expect him to match up on Membrey who he's got the wood over.

Lol you’re absolutely kidding, right? Gray is a shade (pardon pun) of his former self. Papley is without doubt the better player, and it’s not even close. He’s also a far harder matchup that Gray, because he’s quicker, he reads the ball so well off hands and he can weave through stoppages like a genuine on baller

Papley’s current form is better.

Based on your rating Petracca has Dusty covered.

That's not really the right comparison. Robbie Gray is 32 and is likely playing quieter footy because he's entering the twilight of his career. It's highly likely that he won't be a better than Papley from this point on. Dusty on the other hand is likely to still have a fair bit of top footy left in him.

Imo we need to make sure we have some rotation by strategically resting players who are overloaded or carrying minor injuries.

Sinclair played pretty well but made a couple of uncharacteristic handling errors and Parker was well off the pace. We’ll need to bring in replacements and they won’t be much good coming off 16 a side practice runs. Byrnes, bytel, langlands, Webster, savage, roberton must all be getting further away by the week without having even a real vfl hitout.

I‘m not sure who’s out this week but I’d resist the temptation of bringing lonie back this week just to get a game into someone else.
Yeah, I noticed that too with both Parker and Sinclair. Fumbled a bit and were just off the pace a little. They need to play again this week against weaker opposition in Sydney to get themselves up to scratch for the next month of footy.
Players are going to need to be rested over this period, so what we can’t afford to be doing is bringing in blokes who aren’t up to the pace yet against the better sides. Could also be a reason young Byrnes didn’t do much, besides him not getting a run at all in the middle.
But these 3 guys especially should play against Sydney as to give them more match conditioning, and give other blokes a rest

I’m going to bow out of this argument as I’m clearly wasting both our times, enjoy ya day buddy

Sick of hearing about Papley.

The big questions are - who is gonna line up on Butler ...... and King....and Membrey ..... and Marshall......and Kent ..... and Parker
Opposition analysis is a thing and there’s not too many opposition in the game who’s in the form Paps is in right now

Love this idea.

If Lloyd is their main rebounding defender then I'd suggest the following:

If Ross is out - Clark into the midfield, Sav in.
If Kent is out - move Geary forward to a tag on Lloyd, Clark into the midfield, Sav in.

However if Battle is fit we need to find him a spot and I do like the bennymc7 of using him as a big marking target on the wing.

That is some way to bow out of an argument. By following up with 2 more posts emphasising your point!
Good work my man!

Fwiw Petracca can only dream of being compared to Dusty till he does it for a few years and wins a Brownlow and a couple of Norm Smith medals.
Seeing he plays for the Dees I highly doubt that will be happening in my lifetime!
As for the other comparison Papley all day from here on in which is easy to say considering Gray is at the end of a very good career. If Papley was to match Gray's deeds over his career then he will have done very well.
As good as Papley is, not so sure of his bonafides of anything other than a gun small forward. Doubtful he has the versatility that Gray had as a mid!

On another topic I really hope Rampe does not get up for this week, cause if he doesn't it's a real opportunity for the floodgates to open right up and we could really smash the living crap out of them!
God knows we owe them!
All that said with the haunting memory of the Freo game still in my mind. No matter how much I drink it's still there!
Oh the horror!
Don't you dare do that sh!t to us again Saints!

Injury list updated on AFL website, current as at today and neither Seb nor Kent listed as injured. Battle listed as Test.

Honestly you would think to just go in with the same team since we just beat Port on their home deck; rest Battle a little and get him ready for an intense block of games. Get one more game from Seb and then perhaps look at resting him for a couple during the intense block.
