Lot of talk about the forwards but our midfield has basically been smashed for 3 weeks in a row, other than a quarter here or there.

Crouch was in AA form the first month and has dropped off and Steele was nowhere near it before HT yesterday. Ross had his quietest game but has otherwise been very good.

Would really consider playing the extra mid - Windy or Bytel for a full game. Reckon we are just missing something in there. Unfortunately neither of them are really impact players as sub, especially Bytel who is more of an accumulator.

Those 3 all spent more time out of the midfield yesterday than they probably have all year.

Steele just 13CBA’s, Crouch 10 and Seb only the 8. It seemed like we pretty much treated the game like a glorified practice match, to experiment with the midfield.

I'd really like to see how Owens goes in there without having to ruck. Seems the most likely to have an impact in there.

Maybe it's worth giving Bytel a go but I just can't see him improving on what we have.

Yeah an obvious move if we want to keep Membrey in there would be to start putting Mitch in the midfield rotation. Hard to imagine he wouldn’t have an impact in there.

Cometh the moment, cometh the Mitchito

can't see them dropping Membery and it has to be remembered he has really only played 3 games this season and will only benifit from more games under his belt.
Isn't that just a nicer way of saying that he is not currently playing to the required standard? No doubt he benefits from more games but thats the reason the 2s exist.

But his best patch was the first quarter against Carlton in his first game back. His form has deteriorated since then.

I’d drop Skunk, which hurts to say.

He’s not bringing the ball to ground inside 50 like Hammer or Cordy do, he misses easy chances and if he plays high half fwd he slows us to a crawl.

Membrey must remain in the team for his direct ball movement. Cordy comes straight back in to give us some much needed speed and agility.

I’d be putting out an SOS for Dean Kent in the mid season draft too as our small forwards aren’t taking enough chest marks.

We're making finals
I know it's Derm, but we should. We still have eight games to come against the current bottom six sides and four of those games (North, Hawthorn x 2, West Coast) you can put in the book right now; I reckon we should win 6 - 7 of that group at a minimum.

If you re-adjust the draw for 2023 form we actually have a pretty soft draw.

We're getting very close to a tough conversation about Membrey. He doesn't suit our mode of ball movement if he's getting his ball up on the wing.

With all of Wood, Sharman, Hill and Byrnes in the side and able to run the wings (and Wood / Sharman being good overhead marks for outlet kicks) I don't see why Membrey isn't permanently played very deep forward.

It's a ridiculously easy draw. It would be a disaster to miss finals this year.

North Hawks and west coast need to be percentage boosters. We still haven’t had one yet. If we nail all those chances it’s worth an extra win!

We have the 2nd best percentage in the league! Yesterday's win boosted our percentage more than a 10 goal win 140-80 would have.

Were only 16 in total though since no one could kick goals. Percentage wise that's not out of the ordinary for Steele/Crouch (a bit on the low end for Crouch, but such an unusually small sample size). Ross was given a bit of a different role in that game though.

True. Crouch started the game forward though from memory and stayed there for a while, Steele was playing deep forward for a while and Seb was playing off half back at times, so I think we definitely experimented more than usual, and it was noted in the commentary.
