Sounds very much like Geelong just make the decisions and we run around reacting to them like amateur schoolboys. Here's the bad news, witsend...

Not at all. I'm saying the exact opposite. We, like you, will go in with the match-ups we think suit us, but if a Carlton player is troubling us, the switches will be made. And we will always try to free up Scarlo. I'm crediting Ratten with enough nous to try to negate Scarlett with a defensive forward, so his opponent will most likely be whomever Ratten chooses. Or not...in which case we will be happy to have Scarlett roaming free in our D50.

Bobby Davis has just died. No doubt the Cats will be very keen to have a win in his honor this Friday. If anything, our job has just gotten harder...

Agree was going to post the same thing... we're in deep cat sh!t for this one! Why is that we always face a team who is fired up after a form slump or a media lashing etc etc.... anyway if we can beat a furthermore fired up and top of the table cats then we're the real deal!

They will be pumped for the first 10 minutes, if we can stay with them we should be fine. Although if the game is in the balance at 3qtr time, then no doubt they will be reminded of the occasion at the huddle........

RIP Bobby

We'd love Judd vs. Selwood....Juddy took the ascendancy last time that happened

sorry to intrude, but Geelong won the last encounter that these two teams had in 2010 and selwood had 27 possesions and judd had 20, so id say selwood took the ascendancy :p:thumbsu:

I'd be very disappointed if Ratts did not give someone a defensive job on Scarlett. We know that Robinson did a terrific job on Fletcher last year, however, I suspect that Scarlett would tear him to shreds if that eventuated on Friday night. Perhaps Walker would be asked to play his own game, however, really focus on Scarlett when we don't have the ball.

Will be very interested to see how the teams line up at the opening bounce.

It looks like Vardy is in line for a call up this week, meaning the Cats will be playing what Vardy and Hawkens in the ruck (assuming Vardy is in for Ottens).

Could be a HUGE chance for Warnock to dominate in the ruck, giving us first crack at the ball !!!!!!!!!

Or it could be that they saw how St.Kilda stretched our backline and are wanting to do the same thing.

IIRC Robinson said in a post match interview he had the defensive job on Sam Fisher against the Saints. I know he did a great Job last year against Fletcher but is much more suited to the inside mid - pushing forward role.

I would have thought Waite could hold him accountable both ways. Maybe even more reason to bring in another big body in Hendo so we're looking at the likes of Waite, Hendo, Betts, Jeff, Walker and Irish and 206 rotating through the forward line.

Have Waite stay at home with Hendo further up. Waite was alot more dangerous in front of goal last year with Hendo leading up the ground.

Not necessarily, although Ottens could be rested because they are concerned about his workload (as all the clubs who are no longer playing 2 specialist rucks may have to be) given his age and injury history.

They may actually play them both because Vardy's quite mobile and good in the forward line also.

What Scott's comments do tell me is it's highly unlikely Mooney will play and that if we bring in an extra tall compared to last week it will be Vardy, although because you guys have a quick side, we may be reluctant to do that.

I really hope we can get across the line on Friday night, we seem to really struggle against the cats at Etihad Stadium.

- Etihad Stadium: Games played against Geelong 8 and Geelong has won all 8:eek:

But this Carlton team looks much more structured and up for the challenge!

Smash em blues!:thumbsu:

White and Laidler confirmed as available.

'Jeremy to definitely come in' - Ratts.

Pretty safe bet also that McLean will be in for Curnow.

Does White come straight back in?

Alright so Ratts says that White and Laidler are both available. With that in mind I make 3 changes.

INS - McLean, Laider, White*
Outs - Curnow, Joseph, Thornton

*I personally think White is still injured and Hendo will come in instead.

Unlikely we would make more than 2 or at a max 3 changes. Curnow out is automatic, that may mean Mclean gets his chance. And Ratts says Laidler will come back in, probably for Thornton.

Just planning on rocking up with my AFL membership as the area is sold out im guessing, does anyone know if i can only enter from certain gates or is it any gate?

I'm in the same boat, all sold out except GA is level 3, rows G to X, so you can enter any gate and head straight to level 3 :(

AFL members don't get much a good deal at Etihad for Carlton games, maybe having record memberships is a factor.

Anyway, should be another great turnout for a Carlton game, hopefully we can turn it on and surprise a few, will be hard with what Geelong has to play for, but we have shown fight of late, lets hope we win!!

Would be happy with those changes if they were to occur.
Very much strengthens our backline, and we don't lose too much grunt in the midfield with Brock replacing Curnow.

A fit and in-form McLean would be in our best 22. I'm sure we all hope his body holds up and can make it through the remainder of the season.
