I agree but the problem for you guys is that if you need our pick to land Tippett the only way to get it will be to give up overs.

We are in the position of power in this exchange so you would need to make it worth our while to give up any of our early picks. We have no incentive to help a fellow contender get stronger so you would need to make it too good to pass up.

The thing is your not in the position is power as I'm sure that the swans could get other kind picks for parker et al eg Carlton, saints, gws, roos, etc

All I am saying is that IF you find yourselves needing our pick (of which we have 3) we may be able to hold you over the barrel.

I agree other teams may have a better 1st round pick than us but I think they are less likely to give it up (maybe apart from GWS) in the circumstances.

So in a trade between Sydney and Collingwood (taking any other clubs out of the equation) we would hold the power.

Quite possibly.
Putting that aside, I have a few other questions for you:
1) About how much do you think the money offer to Tippett is?
2) Are you happy to be paying that much for a player at his level?
3) Don't you think it's in your club's interests to get a decent trade done with Adelaide to avoid a serious review of the extra money in your TPP?

1) I'm not sure but I think it would be 800-900k back kissed hence the million dollar figure in papers
2) not remotely happy. He is a 500k player at best in previous performance
3) It is already being reviewed so is a moot point. It is rather bewildering how many people underestimated our list manage mention. Maybe 2 players on veterans, bradshaws contract finishing and probably paying 95 of cap. Coupled with this imminent retirement of bolton next year followed by Shaw, matner, goodes and o'keefe make a large back ended contract possible

Nah, I don't doubt you can fit him in - just wondering overall if he's worth all the fuss and attention. Having the extra funds reviewed regularly is one thing; having it be placed in the spotlight like this is another, I would have thought, no?

COLLINGWOOD
What's happened:
Plenty. West Coast forward Quinten Lynch was signed as a free agent. Then the Magpies secured selection 17 from the Eagles for Sharrod Wellingham before Chris Dawes was sent to Melbourne with selection No.58 in exchange for picks 20 and 45. To cap off a busy period, Hawthorn's premiership wingman Clinton Young became a Magpie.
What's to come: Well, they were done and dusted midway through last week before getting the signature of Young. You'd think that's all she wrote but don't be surprised if there's one more twist. They have some picks to play with now.

Think that Sums it up Well

Really seems to be pushed from public outcry over the whole tippett asgard. If we came say 6th there would be nothing in my opinion. If it gets taken off us so be it however I doubt it will as it is a knee jerk reaction. Also if it is taken off us gws will have it taken too and afl won't be keen on that

Fair points. Wonder whether it might get phased out over the next five to ten years, or reduced somewhat based on actual costs relative to other cities etc. No doubt it wouldn't be such an issue now if not for the combination of the flag and Tippett.

I'm hoping it goes to city CPI adjusted. Then again if concerns about retention persist then it may take later

Would be super stoked if we traded pick 18 for Luke Parker, would be arguably our best off season ever in regards to recruiting players.

No doubt the current regime is committed to national comp, so for all those that agree with that, some 'bias' is justified. Brisbane would be the counter-argument now as they are really struggling off-field, it seems.

Look what happened in the 1990s and early 2000s. Quite a few players for taken. It really does depend on if the housing cost is there and whether the training wheels can come off.

Sounds good membling.Do you guys reckon we can on trade one of picks 18 or 19 to the swans for him?

No. No chance that would get us to let him go. For a pick below 15 possibly. All depends on how much management want tippett really.

If Parker was on the table the Crows would have just done a deal around that already. The best the Swans have put forward that we know of is J. White. They may well like to get one of our 18-21 picks to go with their pick 22 but, I just don't see them parting with anyone we need or want. I think Rohan is the only commodity they have, but the only reason that would be considered by them is if his ankle is still dodgy.

The Swans are a bit like we were after 2010 GF our stars were off limits and our other good players hadn't really been recognised to be that great - like Beams, Wellers & co. We had a good young balanced side, but no one in that premiership team was going to be flogged off the same year.

So it makes it really hard for them to offer anything decent for Tippett as they are not willing to give up anything & have no draft picks.

I don't think he's worth more than Wellingham was. I'd be very surprised if you got a pick inside the top 15 for him.

So hypothetically if Adelaide said no to what Sydney is currently offering which their pick 22 and Jesse White, could we dangle pick 17 or 18 and ask fopr parker in return?

Then if Adealide said no to what they are offering Tippett will have to go into the draft and he won't go past GWS.They will snap him up.At least then Tippett still gets part of his wish,he ends uop somewhere in Sydney.....Ha ha ha !

No chance Sydney would trAde him unless he was seriously home sick. Will be a top 5 inside mid in a few years. I would offer pick 18 and 42 plus a Tom young or something- u guys love ur recycled players!! But that's just hypothetical because it won't be happening people. It would be like us trading beams last year.

Parker is going to be a gun. Quality kid and player.

Sydney will screw the Crows over Tippett. No necessarily intentionally but Sydney holds all the power here. The best the Crows will get is pick 22 + some change. Sydney will not offer up any young up and coming players. Why would they?

If no trade, Tippett goes into the PSD where he'll get all the way to Sydney with an inflated contract for the 1st 2 years or something similar.

It's the nature of the beast.

li

lightning quick? i dont think so. an inside midfielder who dishes out handballs is his go

Yeah, definietly. As player comparison would be Joel Selwood like. Parker goes extremely hard at it, in and under, can still run & carry, but inside mid is his niche. I expect at some stage, when he gets a chance, he will explode into an elite midfielder like Beams did.
