can everyone who was shitting on me for starting this thread offer an apology please?

the doctor is a ******* quack. he needs to go. you'd maybe excuse it if it was a one off mistake but this muppet has a history. i wonder how many brains he's destroyed already.
You were bang on, and thanks for calling it out. Hopefully it is a wake up call for the entire industry that stronger, unambiguous, independent, protocols must be put in place.

They get an initial assessment and then if it's determined that they might have had concussion they do the full concussion test in the rooms

That happened with Jones, but Aliir was cleared on his initial assessment despite a sickening headclash where he lay motionless on the ground for several seconds.

The AFL absolutely has to interfere if it doesn't want to be sued so badly they have to shut the league down
Alir had one post game which he passed indicating the Drs original assessment was correct.

If the Doctor broke the rules, then sure, fire his butt, but if he is allowed to make a determination without the full assessment, then he is free to do so. If the league doesn't like that, it's on them.

I’m normally the first to point it out when Ken is being sh*t on for things outside his control. I’m sorry but when you are on that sort of salary and acting at that level, you become culpable for your inactions as much as your actions. He saw the head clash, saw Aliir go back on, and did nothing. It’s on him.
Oh come on

Of course not. It’s a medical decision

How many times over the course have medical decisions by this club, players being cleared to play from injury despite being underdone or still hampered, been obviously suspect and on a whole to the detriment of the team?

This is not a once of incident, this goes far beyond this concussion incident to other medical and injury management scenarios, to suggest there is some form of complicitness involved by a number of parties within the club.

before the head injuries for ebert became extremely serious, how many times did we see the club roll him back out onto the field after a big head knock with a bandage around his head?

this doctor is bordering on criminal negligence, and it's gonna be challenged in a court of law very soon. schulz is taking on the afl but maybe he should have been setting his sights on flathead fisher

It still doesn’t add up to me that the doctor would risk his professional reputation and integrity over a meaningless showdown.

Was this simply a mistake, or was the doctor pressured by Ken?

The common perception out there from the general public was that we were sending him back out there to try and cheat the system.

You would have to be incredibly naive to think the North and Crows supporters are posting out of concern for our players welfare.

You’d have to be incredibly blinkered to think of them as your players

They’re not your players, they’re people. People whom we watched get involved in a serious incident that affects all players and supporters. These are issues that are very hot button at the moment - rightly

We’re not concerned because it involves your team, if you had played a different team we probably wouldn’t be as familiar with the situation because we weren’t watching the game.

We saw what happened because we were watching our team, play yours, and that meant we had more visibility and closeness than if it were the Hawthorn Vs St Kilda game that none of us probably watched

I don’t think it’s a good look for anyone to say they see these matters through a monochromatic team focused lens / because I don’t believe you.

I think we all see the issues here and they have FA to do with one team or another.

I still say that if Mark Fisher has made a dubious decision, it’s as a result of the unenviable position he has been put in BY THE LEAGUE

You are being either naive or disingenuous. There will be supporters posting here simply to snipe the club. Not everyone has your stylised view of commentary of this incident.

Just a reminder that this is a board mainly for Port supporters to discuss this issue, I am sure it is being discussed on shared boards. I am happy for factual discussion from opposition supporters here, but maybe take your observations of this board's posters opinions there.

or he's just shit and has demonstrated several times before that he doesn't take head injuries seriously.

Optics are horrible here.

Looks like the Doc made a cluster with Alliir's case.

Who knows if he was pressured by others at the club, and he's just being the fall guy?

AFL deserves to be kicked into the sun for not making independent medicos at all games mandatory.

Players having ongoing concussion symptoms.

Lose:lose situation all around.

Well, just when we felt the wheels have fallen off - we’ve now completely totalled the car.

There will be a scapegoat to sweep it under the carpet but there are some absolute knuckleheads running our club who need to go too. How could a club create a situation where this could even happen - this just shouldn’t have occurred. Watching at home was absolutely floored when AA ran back onto the field. I only assumed the boos from the crowd were worried crows fans (seen as they are such a caring, compassionate bunch 🤣)
