Serious question for a moment

We fail to make finals this year, or make the top 4 but bail out in straight sets...

Does Ken survive? (Realise hes contracted to 25, but surely the blowback would make it a 50:50 call)

Top 4 would be considered a success by our board. The sugar hit of winning finals is irrelevant.

I don't think any result will get Donuts sacked in 2024.

Interesting thing is if we were to finish 12th or worse after demolishing our draft hand to bring in the missing link.

What do they then say to the happy clappers? They're starting to run out of excuses for Donuts.

Especially if the Cows overtake us with one of our ex-assistants

- If you weren’t convinced after missing the 8 in 2015 after losing to 17th & 18th

- If you weren’t convinced after we lost a home elimination final to 8th after being 3 goals up in extra team against a very old team that only scraped into finals on the back of a monumental Melbourne choke.

- If you weren’t convinced about the man’s true character after he threatened to knife us for Gold Coast unless we gave him a huge extension.

- If you weren’t convinced after we missed the 8 from 11-4 in 2018.

- If you weren't convinced after the man shat on 149 years of Port Adelaide history by appointing co-captains, which was inevitably a disaster.

- If you weren’t convinced after we lost at home to a VFL side in Round 4, 2019 after he didn’t pick Todd Marshall and Dylan Grimes took a zillion intercept marks and got the 3 votes.

- If you weren’t convinced after Round 22, 2019 when we missed out on finals because we lost by 86 points to a North Melbourne outfit that kicked one goal the week before and haven’t finished higher than 17th since after he left our #1 ruck and a key defender out as Ben Brown kicked 10 and Todd Goldstein destroyed us in the ruck.

- If you weren’t convinced after he couldn’t win a home Prelim in two attempts, despite every advantage possible being in our favour and one of which was against a depleted team that finished 5th and had been knocked from pillar to post, flying all over the country to the tune of 71 points.

- If you weren’t convinced after we started 0-5 in 2022, losing at home to a re-building team with a rookie coach in what was meant to be Russell Elbert’s tribute match by 64 points, then losing to an awful Crows outfit the next week, not kicking a goal for a half the week after against Melbourne, and then finally finding ourselves 50 points down against one of his ex-assistant’s teams.

- If you weren’t convinced after the Crows beat us by 6 goals after we fought tooth and nail just to wear the prison bars for that match.

- And lastly, if you weren’t convinced after we blew a certain Top 2 finish after winning 13 games in a row, prematurely extending him once again only to crash out of finals in straight sets…

Then what on earth is it going to take for these people?

He'll probably get sacked if your crowds really drop off to footy Park tarpy levels.

Won't happen - Adelaide Oval too close to the centre of the city.

The Footy Park crowds our team being completely shite was only a piece of the puzzle.

Plus if we don't go, we don't to get throw donuts on the ground.

It's early but that's post of the year so far.

The last game of 2011 — where bottom-placed Port on an 11-game losing streak would take on an equally shambolic Melbourne who themselves had been turned over by 186 and sacked Dean Bailey just weeks prior — was shifted to a pre-redevelopment Adelaide Oval as a sort of taster trial for football’s return to the city in 30 months’ time.

29340 turned up to pack the joint out.

So that’s out.

You may be convinced by his Showdown record or perhaps his record breaking run of games coached at a single club without making a GF.

St Kilda who is in way worse financial debt fired Ratten in 2022, after extending for 2 years. Somehow Hinkley survived because of just 1 extra season on his contract, then gets another 2 seasons without a preliminary final appearance, after 11 seasons without a Grand final appearance? They should be scouting for all the premiership coaches to replace Hinkley with the team they have. Even Choco Williams would be better. Port won't get anywhere, reminds me of North Melbourne during the 2010's with Scott. And it's really strange their best AFL player Tredrea states the obvious and is crucified for it, must be Bizarro World at Alberton, these days.
St Kilda are owned and controlled by their members.. hence why they could sack Ratten not long after extending him, regardless of financial implications. Plus they were able to utilise the 6 month payout clause... so didn't have to pay out the full amount owing to Ratten over the 2 year length of his contract.

Port are owned and controlled by AFL house, so they're a completely different kettle of fish... and it's the reason why Port are stuck with Hinkley. I know Hinkley had the 6 month payout clause removed from his contract during covid too.. meaning that if Port were to decide to sack him, they would have to pay Hinkley the full amount owing to him.

Only coach in history who could lose a home Prelim to an undermanned team of detainees by 71 pts;

And then back up in the very next home game — an official celebration of the life of the club’s recently departed GOAT — and get smashed by a rebuilding also-ran with an L-plate coach to the tune of 64 pts;

Amidst an overall 6-game losing streak;

And within a month be hailed and feted as the man ‘putting Port Adelaide back together’.
Hinkley is the feral kid in primary school who gets rewarded because he stopped eating paste for a week.

I dunno. I reckon if there was persistent and vocal white noise throughout the coming season lobbying for a 5 year extension and criticising the club administration for not acting, Koch would sack him out of spite.
With your luck Koch will say they listened to the fans and grant the extension

I know, but they could have let him just finish off his contract for 2023 and even before then tried to contract a premiership coach for 2024. How he got another 2 year contract extension without even a preliminary final appearance is astonishing, when he went onto a 4 game losing streak (should have been a wake up call), and they most importantly didn't reflect on his entire coaching career of his then 10 wasted seasons of no grand final appearances. There's better coaches than Hinkley, not sure where this myth of he's the best guy comes from, when Choco Williams their only premiership coach is leagues better than him and helped Richmond and Melbourne win premierships.

At this stage anybody is better than Hinkley because hope is better than proven failure.

or whatever that Batman line is.

This one?

Not to even mention the "other stuff":

Sending a barely conscious AA on to the field to try to get a contract extension

Developing gambling addictions and encouraging animal cruelty in the playing group

Sneakily filling other positions with his underqualified relatives

It’s genuinely astonishing to read the usual fans (I won’t identify the cohort the majority are from as I don’t want Tibbs to challenge my masculinity again) latching onto Rooch’s preemption of Tredrea’s potential ‘conflict of interest’ when,

• We have an unelected chairman who has used his position to obvious benefit at Channel 7;

• We have an unelected board member who was handed the ‘prison bars’ portfolio despite being employed by the [now former] President of Collingwood;

• Our General Manager of Football and Head Coach share gambling industry investments with each other, and players (current and former);

But gee whiz, Tredders might get elected and might not recuse himself from popping into 5AA?

Good lord.

The only way I see him getting the flick before his contract ends is if freo shit the bed early and longmuir gets sacked,

might be the only way, as freo will definitely come knocking for Carr.
