Roast Sack Koch - Chairman of The Redeem Team

David Koch "A lot of teams don't even get the chance to play finals" We are not talking about the odds of winning lotto. 8/18... More than 40% of the competition plays in finals each year.
I posted yesterday that in the period that Hinkley has been coaching Ports 10 of the 18 AFL clubs have played in a Grand Final, 56%. But those odds are too great for the poor little battler club from Alberton apparently.

100% it will be cohesion.

"With a lot of new players into the team it was nearly impossible for them to gel together and learn the new gameplan in a single preseason. Our aim was always 2025."
"Please ignore the fact that I was holding a gun to their heads when I asked them the question."

I think it might even be 11 clubs, with Carlton or Brisbane to be added to the list this week as well. Don't let Kochie see that data.

It was poor. Clearly winning finals isn’t the most important matrix for the board. Home and away win loss and qualifying for finals is the metric
He said that at the start of the year that nobody expected us to play finals, which sounds like code for, "Finishing 5th is OK." No you muppet - it's not. The Port Adelaide I grew up supporting accepted nothing less than a grand final berth, and if we didn't reach the grand final, it was a wasted year. Even our greatest ever player was sacked because he couldn't deliver a premiership, so what's wrong with sacking a bloke who's failed 11 years in a row?

We need another Troy Chaplin tier hero to come forward and write a scathing letter about the place.

Was at pains to reiterate that Hinkley getting extended came at the recommendation of former capt Cassisi and Rob Snowden. Didn’t mention anyone else. I’d love to know what Cassisi’s credentials are for him to have such a significant input into the decision.

He drew a line in the sand that Ken then crossed

I like the reference to 2001 to 2003 failures and how we have short memories!

I don’t and I’d have chopped Mark Williams too. He burnt with finals choking a multiple flag opportunity

The next question should have been "Everyone expected Port to make the GF after the 21 prelim disaster and yet Hinkley failed to take the team to finals. Do you have any comment David?"

It seems Koch, Richardson and Davies think people will simply be satisfied by the fact they are "Doing a review" to cover up their incompetence and blatant lies. These are the same people that have done the previous reviews that have led us nowhere and are the ones responsible to begin with for the poor decisions made. Where is the review on their performance?

I don't claim to be an expert. But as part of my Business Economics Degree I spent a lot of time studying statistics, quantitative methods, data analysis, statistical trends and forecasting. I am obviously using a very very different set of data to what Koch is to analyse performance.

How many reviews can you do of the same bloody coach!!

The review is basically, has Kenny become a 20 year coach yet? No? Okay, re-sign him again.

Fellas, fellas. At the end of this season it will be twelve, leaving Port in the illustrious company of:

• North.
• Essendon.
• St Kilda.
• Gold Coast.
• Carlton/Brisbane (with the other to ascend).

"I asked each and every board member if they agreed with us resigning Ken, and each one said yes." What he didn't say was that if anyone said no, they'd no longer be on the board!!!
Actually Holly said "embrace your inner lion and visualise success!" but we assumed this was closer to 'yes' than 'no'...

Would be nice if anyone within the club would come out with:
'I made the decision and I will take responsibility for it, and take the consequences if it fails'

Blaming Dom Cassisi is hardly inspiring. Saying that everyone will own it isn't exactly owning it.

Remember midway through last year?

Great clubs don't sack coaches in the middle of a season

This year it's

Oh we had to extend him on the brink of finals (ignoring this is arguably the only metric to which we can clearly point out that he's failing but I look at the data yo*) so that prospective recruits know who they will get (ignoring the fact that the actual trade period is post-season and even right now we could be having same discussions) plus we don't want to distract him from finals

The guy is an absolute shyster and a bigger conman than the coach

Oh and,
I asked the board and they said Yes but please ignore that it's nearly entirely made up of a carefully cultivated list of yes-men and -women

I'd happily excuse the schtick of bumbly-tele-dad-nerd who occasionally pretends to "go hard" on "issues" if it meant one skerrick of accountability or even self-reflection

But it's obvious that the club is his plaything and what he imagines what is "port adelaide" in that polished dome of his is far different to what I thought it was, but sadly a lot closer to becoming it

Lol did the club really ask members to renew before the finals?? That's crazy if true

Along with signing Hinkley in August, confirms they wanted to lock s**t in before a another likely failure
They did...they even invoiced me for the same packages I had this year even though I rang the week before Ken was resigned and asked that my memberships be cancelled effective immediately
