Any chance that one of these friggin big games could be played during the day?
It's why we're not renewing our membership this year. I'm over it.

So you're punishing the club because of the AFL's fixturing?

Looking forward to it, it disappoints me that in 2010 we failed to beat the Saints for the first time since 1999, and also the first time they had ever beaten us in a final. We're still the better team for sure, but they wanted it more.

But that said, I wouldn't trade it for the Grand Final win.

yep. I'm not buying a membership if I'm not going to the games mate.

It's ALL about TV and $$$, so bound to be FRI NIGHT G . We do poorly in blockbusters on Fri pm, well at least against Saints and Pies recently.

Big game to start the season.

I cant wait for the draw :)

IM prob gonna get a 3 game membership or an interstate one for next year. I have been getting a house cats one for the last few years

More features of our draw that have been revealed:

- WILL play modern-day rival St Kilda in a prime-time round-one blockbuster at the MCG;
- HAVE a gruelling stretch of three six-day breaks in a row;
- ARE set to play the Gold Coast twice, including the Suns' first home match at Carrara mid-year;
- PLAY three Melbourne-based teams and four interstate teams at Skilled Stadium;
- HAVE three home games at the MCG against Collingwood, St Kilda and Hawthorn and one home game at Etihad Stadium, and
- ARE in high demand from broadcasters to play prime-time matches Friday and Saturday night to maximise television audiences.

And here lies the problem. We (family of four, including 2 teenagers) only made it to one Melb match this year. We usually pay for 4 memberships for all home games and seats at home. This year we only made it to one Melb match. It takes a lot of our disposable income to pay for our four memberships and seats. It costs more to travel. Only seven games at home sucks. It's not about punishing the club. It's the (household) economy.

We are gonna make some money at those home G games.

Our newbie coach, played for an interstate team, assistant interstate. We will probably have five 70k+ games this year :D He'll be grey by the mid season break.

Only 4 interstate teams at home? Out of 7 :confused: Which means we have to verse more victorian teams twice than interstate teams, does it not? Unless we play against all 4 interstate teams we play at home, away (meaning 7 interstate trips) we play more victorian teams twice than interstate.

Fair enough - I am looking at it from a Melbournian's point of view and vinum seems to be one, but I understand the economic pressures are tough now. Having said that, I would buy a membership even if I couldn't get to the games - I'd rather save money on something else.

Would it not still save you money if you bought the 11 game home membership and went to 7 or 8 games?

Correct. I have a son who only just turned 3. He cannot handle being at the footy at 8pm.
And I felt like our money was wasted this year.

I guess we are being used in a Collingwood style max profit min travel fixture next season. We have @GC, I assume we'll have @Freo. They will probably want to use as @Syd as well. Doesn't leave much.

Still gotta get around the club mate.. I live in Adelaide and still buy the normal membership..

Same here, i usually get down for 1-3 games per year, but if it's in Melbourne I still don't use it as my mrs comes too and she goes for the Weagles, so we have to buy tickets regardless. But I also have the income to pay for it and I hope I always do. It's just good to support the club.

It's also because the interstate membership has no ballot access for the gf, even if it is extremely lame. It got me to '07 though! :thumbsu:

Perfect opportunity to unveil our "anti-Saints footy" gameplan that is gonna help us beat the Pies too....:rolleyes:

All I'm sayin is, Scott has said he is not going to tinker with the game plan too much, but surely more than a little bit of change is needed to beat those teams that evolved their style to beat us??
