Saints in trouble again!

Could just be another storm in a teacup, but the question has to be asked who the f**k decided to hire dwarves for 'entertainment'? I don't think we can be accused over recent scandals of lacking leadership but I am somewhat disappointed senior guys let them be hired. Even without the fire incident it has a bad look.

To be fair to the players - it was a bit of fun. It wasn't strippers. There were no nude players. No one urinated in public. No property was damaged. It was a private function in a function room. It was not a hazing ritual. No one ran through the pub with toilet paper from their rear end on fire. There were no drugs found. The players looked decidedly sober when they got into taxis to go home. They hired a couple of blokes that do entertainment for blokey functions and their act includes a trick with fire. They were not children or women or a vulnerable victim. They are blokes that run Death Match wrestling events. They would have been booked ages ago and prior to the Saturday proceedings.

The Don got it right when he burst into laughter about the whole thing.

Caro Wilson needs a good.........talking to - cause she is the biggest sour faced over reactionist on the planet.

Guys, please check Footy Classified's twitter, you will see PCW sent them a provocative message clearly trying to gain some free and cheap PR at St Kilda's expense.
His shoe laces were allegedly the victim, hardly a life threatening situation. I also expect all of you drama queens to stop watching the footy show each week because of the on going involvement in sketches of a 'little person'.
I also question why the story is all about the fact that he is a Dwarf, who cares? If he were not a Dwarf would it be a story? The media is taking us all for a ride and getting mileage out of this 'little' fact. Sensationalism at it's best/worst.

The ever unreliable news.com.au indicates the pub staff think this is a storm in a teacup, and the "entertainer" did not immediately leave the venue, as he stated, but stayed until the end of the event and shook his hand as he left.

What can be done about publicity wh0res seeking to drag our club through the mud? Do they sit around and play Scrabble and sip tea every night? Methinks if this was Melbourne or Footscray it would be "boys will be boys" (as it was with the latter club and their antics on a street in a major Asian capital city only a few years back).

Everyone likes to beat on the Saints like we are the fat kid with glasses on the playground, I'm getting pretty tired of it.

if it was only his shoes laces, why did he claim to have a burnt shirt? if what you say is true the club should pursue this issue further

why they would set someones shoelaces on fire is another question that needs to be answered

You honestly think if it was a waitress or patron it wouldn't make news?

o_O

Fair to say if a saints player lit a female on fire...

Police launch formal investigation into claim dwarf entertainer was set alight on Mad Monday

It's understood his jumper and pants were significantly burnt in the alleged attack.

"This wasn't just somebody burning a hole in his jumper with a cigarette,"

Johnston could not identify the alleged culprit because most of the players were in costume.

A high-profile player is thought to have booked the entertainment but it is still not clear who may have been responsible for the alleged prank.

Bells Hotel management said the incident was a "storm in a teacup".

But Johnston has denied the claim through his unnamed friend.

Investigators at South Melbourne CIU have watched CCTV footage and are believed to be speaking with management of the club in the wake of the alleged incident.

The AFL said it was "closely monitoring" St Kilda's investigation.

(Mark Evans) indicated the AFL could step in.

Then where's the club in all this? Their silence is just as damning. If it's a storm in a teacup and a media beat up, then come and set the story straight. Get out on the front foot, not over 24 hours with nothing of substance to say. if it's clear to some that it was just a shoelace or that the entertainer wasn't harmed, then the club should already know this information - so where are they?

The fact is, we don't have as much leniency as other clubs. We can't afford another 'storm in a teacup'. Maybe if it was Melbourne or footscray, it might be put down as a one-off, but not for us. I'm sorry, but the players should know better.

sorry to intrude guys but it does seem to be a storm in a teacup... if it was as drastic as first said then I think Footy Classified wouldnt have had the first news, and I think Vlad had already heard about it and it was significantly extremed...

Oh god this PC world we live in. They are dwarves who hired themselves for entertainment for pete's sake who are part of a wrestling organisation who are looking for free promotion as coincidentally have the biggest fight of the year coming up soon. Surprise surprise. Overreacting much? Sheesh.

Has anyone thought about the rights and feelings of the lighter itself? C'mon people get a grip.

Move on...nothing to see here.

Surely it's pretty simple..... "Chewbacca set me on fire". Have a Scooby-Doo type unmasking of Chewy.

haha..

in all seriousness im more worries about some of our supporters than I am for the midget. get a grip guys.

Oh I get it all right... been around long enough to see almost everything.

As of this post, we have not yet been informed of the facts. So any criticism is purely emotional, somewhat hysterical over reaction. I mean if having the club in the paper for this reason really upsets you and turns your life into despair, then either get some therapy or go follow some other sport. I mean fairdinkum... people complain about too much PC, then go off at this incident. Blah blah blah. Yep it's all my fault that the club has failed so miserably over the past 140 years...I controlled everything even from my mum's womb... heck as a sperm I had super powers. What a dead set deadshit comment to make.

who the fruck are we to pass judgement on what players do in their own time??? Have any sponsors quit as a result? NO. So let's just tone it down a little before making assumptions and doom saying for the future. The club will handle it as it sees fit. If this isn't good enough for some supporters then stiff t***ies. Like I always say... instead of carrying on from the sidelines, get involved on an offical level and force change from within.

LMFHIAO (laughing my fat hairy Italian Arse Off) at people having shots at the club. usual suspects all the time. Oh boo hoo, rip up my membership... waaaah waaah, naughty players having fun.

Facts? What are they? Who needs them?

If a player acted poorly, I am sure he will be dealt with accordingly. Give them their marching orders you say... well fcuk me, if all players were there then sack the entire list for being accessories.

Like I said, where was the outrage when Milne was charged and not stood down? Fckn hyporcisy shites me no end. Where was the outrage when Gherig didn't get sacked, but Lawrence and Capuano did? Maybe we should sack Steven as well?

Seriously, these people hire themselves out and carve out a business niche. What's the big deal? No one from the club put a gun to your head and forced you to watch.

I don't condone poor behaviour, but let's get some reality in here.

Point finger... point finger...

Because if his shirt was hanging out then it wouldn't be all too far from his shoelaces... that's why.

Why is the club's silence so damming?

Seriously, if this is tying people up in knots, then you need a holiday of sorts.

I've known Mr Big for many years through pro wrestling, this is nothing more than a beat up..
Over the years he's copped a lot worse than yesterday's prank, i'd suggest him & PCW are lapping up this media attention & the coppers have fallen for it due to an AFL club being the accused..!

Prefer to use frack instead of fruck in honour of Battlestar Galactica the series, (great way to be able to swear but not swear on TV) :) LOL

Some of you guys might be taking this a bit too lightly.

It's not just the media. A few of the players weren't happy with the offender, either...

If the offender did wrong then he'll get what's coming. If it comes out and the club does nothing, then fair enough. But as yet we have no concrete facts nor has the club dealt with it.
