For the reserves the first half had two 20 minute quarters and then after half time the quarters were 20 minutes plus time on. I'm fairly sure thats how it went...

In the league game all quarters were 20 minutes plus time on.

To be honest I don't think you could take much from tonight's game at all was a very scrappy affair, and West man they look bad considering the list of guys who didn't play for Norwood. Got some concerns about Danger potentially playing there during the season.

Where were you sitting CG? Western Grandstand? Did you see what happened with the Westies kid in the ressies game? I turned around heard something and then looked back and he was out for the count.

And a couple of final notes:

- He's not a great over head mark.
Disagree.

- He rushes when taking a set shot at goal, often meaning his technique and accuracy are affected.
He's a real dodgy kick.

- He showed a few bursts of speed when given the opportunity.
He's very quick, especially for his size.

Final notes:

- Kite tries his darn hardest to stick to his opponent. I love how he rests his hand on their back constantly.
He does stay extremely close to his man. He was right by his opponent all night long, just as he is every week. I loved his intensity tonight, gave away a free and was unhappy about it, proceeded to give away a 50 metre penalty for abuse. :D

- Kite's skills have improved. Some of his kicks tonight were spot on.
Disagree. You've got him down for 5 kicks, I thought he had about 8. 2 were complete shockers, one luckily found it's way to a teammate but the kick was still poor. Kite played well though, had lots of spoils and set up a bit from defence. He had way more than 7 possessions, in fact he had 2 handballs in one play alone in the last quarter. ;)

- Moran appears indecisive at times and often hesitates if he thinks too much about his options.
Stand by my statement that he's the worst player on an AFL list. Started really poor, got better as the game wore on and took 2 nice marks in defence. But you nailed it, he's far, far, FAR too indecisive and hesitant.

I don't know why you keep insisting on ruining your otherwise incisive and generally sensible views with ridiculous shoot-from-the-hip comments like this man :p We have worse players on our list, let alone the rest of the AFL.

Still, I appreciate the good cop/bad cop type of posts we're getting here :p I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle, as with most things.

Also Drummond you prick where were you at training today. I thought you were going to be there. I mean don't get me wrong, it was fun talking to van963, but there's always room for one more!

Travelled down to Norwood Oval and will post a few points on the league game (obviously as not detailed as CG's!)

Kite:
Can be a major pain for the opposition as he sticks to his opponent like glue. Rarely lets them run free and always makes them work for their possesions. He gave a couple of frees away in doing so, but its good to see he's adding pressure to the opposition. Also seemed to find a fair bit of space, and there were instances that show he's working on his offensive game. Had some nice runs through the centre that ultimately led to a couple of Norwood goals.
I cant really find any major faults with his game, just needs to get involved more.
Could easily become a Bassett replacement down the track who could be rotated on the wing. Can definately see him making a career for himself at the AFC.

Moran:
Played in the ruck and defense throughout the game. His rucking wasn't too flash to be honest, got a great leap on him but still got a bit of work to do on his timing/tapping. To be honest I cant really recall him being in a one on one situation in defense. He seemed to get a lot of the ball but was mainly uncontested due to finding a bit of space in the back 50.
He almost looked a bit dissinterested out there, probaly due to not being around the team much in the off-season and I think there was a bit of frustration coming through with his teammates. At one point Cupido lost his cool and started swearing at the the umpire, resulting in a goal to Norwood. Moran then approached him and had a few words with him, so was good to see him taking some leadership.

Overall, its hard to take anything really from it. Im still not sold on Moran as an AFL player. I dont really know why, just see him as fill in player. Happy to be proven wrong but atm, I'd have other players ahead of him.

Not really a detailed insight as to how either player went, but thought I'd add something. Was just good to finally see some football live again.

I was sitting right near that! I couldn't clearly see what happened because there were some players in the way, but I thought he just received a hip and shoulder. Saw him spun around and hit the deck and thought he'd get up, but then he didn't move... Perhaps he clashed heads or something, but I don't think it was that malice.

Disagree.

He's a real dodgy kick.

Thanks for disagreeing nicely with me :)

I never saw Will cleanly take a mark over head, correct me if I'm wrong here, but he would take two grabs, on most occasions, and bring it down to his level. He took some cleanly in the warm up... :D

I thought at times a couple of Aaron's kicks were spot on. Ok, he's no Reilly or Dmack just yet, but just the way he kicked the ones that hit the target, he kicked them almost perfectly.

Oh and I've got him down for one handball in the last term, so I guess I could add another :p

Kite seems to have that intensity and desire to beat his man week in and out that some of our boys are lacking. He'll be a 22 players given time when yoiu couple that with his athletism.

Ahem ...

Great reports guys:thumbsu:

Thanks to all those that gave us reports and comments on Young, Kite and Moran's efforts yesterday. :thumbsu:

Like all things football, the opinions vary, but the conclusions I draw from these reports and training reports etc are:

- Young has a fair way to go to make it as an AFL player.

- Kite is coming on nicely and looks as if he will make it as an AFL player in time.

- Moran. The jury is out. Some good, some bad. Needs to develop his contested game to a much greater degree. Looking more like a back-up player at this stage.

- Young has a fair way to go to make it as an AFL player.

I have to admit - when they drafted him I looked at his stats from the TAC, and they weren't great. Lots of errors by foot. I really would have preferred Rockliff at that pick.

Irish recruit Brian Donnelly kicked a goal in his first league trial game with Glenelg last weekend.

Donnelly had 13 possessions and three marks in three quarters as a defender against Central District and ran hard from defence to earn his shot on goal.

Rookie Ricky Henderson played in defence for Central in the same game and had 10 possessions.

Brad Moran and Aaron Kite played in the league trial between West and Norwood. Moran won 15 possessions in the ruck and defence and Kite had six possessions for Norwood as a defender.

Shaun McKernan (South Adelaide) spent most of his time near the goalsquare and kicked one goal from six possessions in the senior trial.

Phil Davis collected about 20 possessions and took a couple of contested marks in defence for North Adelaide’s reserves.

Will Young played at centre half forward for Norwood’s reserves and finished with 10 possessions and six marks while Tom Lee had a handful of touches for Sturt’s reserves.

Phil Davis collected about 20 possessions and took a couple of contested marks in defence for North Adelaide’s reserves.

Delighted to see Davis taking 20 possessions but not delighted to see him being played in defence. Dammit, when he inevitably gets promoted to the senior side they'd better play him up forward!

Reserves .

Cut him.

Even though I know that was sarcastic, I might just take the opportunity to make people aware of the fact that selection for North Adelaide's league side in the first trial was based on a "points" system, where you got points for doing extra training sessions etc during pre season, and the people with the most points got to play the first trial.

Obviously Davis wouldn't have been able to pick up many points due to Crows commitments, hence his being picked in the reserves. Not to say that he would/wouldn't be in North's full-strength league side, just don't draw any judgments based purely on the fact that he was in the seconds for this game.

Everything is true.

If Marlon Motlop can play a game for the Power. After being in North's reserves. Anybody could do. As long as Rory Sloane plays in the 1sts im happy. IF he plays ressies, Ill go early. I love the look of him

I'm pretty sure someone else has beaten you to him.
