my back line has Gibbs,Grimes,Gram,Everitt,Wood,Laider out Digan in,Otten and on the bench i have Heppell,j.Toy,N.Lower i know some will have a dig at my backline but each to there own but anyone have any tips in how i could spice it up just a bit my backline cost $2,530,800
Is Goddard in your MIDs?

Im trying to pick a backman, and i can afford anyone under heath shaws price, but id like to be able to leave about 100k in the bank, to give me some freedom if an injury occurs early on, the only one ive got im that price bracket currently is gwilt. Thoughts? Options?

Hey guys,

How do you think James Gwilt will go this season for SC? Reckon he will be a consistent 90+ scorer? Is he worth the pick up (which means extra cash) or is it better going with someone more established like Gilbert or Jack Grimes (but significantly less bank money)?

CAn i have peoples thoughs on my backline?

Gibbs, Lids, Grimes, Hurley, Otten, Heppell, McKernan

Subs: Toy, Batchelor, Duigan.

Should i swap Goddard from mid to back and get another big scorer in the mid or a cheapie thats more likely to scores big???

Weak.

Do you have Hibberd in your mids? If not I would drop Goddard to the backs. I'd off load Otten his preseason form has been rubbish and upgrade Hurley.

Maybe something like this:
Goddard, Gibbs, Lids, Grimes, Waters/Gram, Hibbed/Heppell, Duigan.
Toy, Batchelor, McKernan.

Mids - 3rd sub: Hibberd/Heppell (B/M)

With the link you have by picking Heppell goddard is effectivly in your defence anyway. he can just be switched using MPP.

the only players in that backline i would comment on would be Hurley who i dont see as the best option in his price range.
and Mckernan who I think would be a better pick in the foreward line, as for me anyway, it seems to be harder to spot a FD rooky.

hope this helps.:)

Ps if u really want to keep Hurley the Mckernan switch to the foreward line actually opens up for back MPP as well

Anyone having any second thoughts on Deledio?

Yes I am. I started the pre season thinking Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, broughton and Grimes were all locks for me.

But now that i look at the relative strength of defending rookys this year (imo). i wonder if i should drop the weakest link (deledio imo) and pop another prem in the foreward line.....

I realise he would be expect to score more than grimes maybe. but the $$ dif swings me back to deledio.

The real question is why do you keep giving people LAME advice, i feel sorry for everyone listening to this blokes recommendations..

I guess its a good thing for those who don't listen.. We all have a better chance of taking the money!!

Keep up the great work big fella! :thumbsu:

haha, was that really worth setting up a new account??

....................................................

Why is Deledio the weakest link?

Anyone having any second thoughts on Deledio?

Yeah. Talk of him starting slowly this year because he has been a bit injured and not matchfit.

I reckon Deledio is the type that can find form pretty quickly, he has played the last 2 NAB challenge games, even if he takes 2 or 3 games to get going I still think he will end up being one of the highest averaging backmen, why not just start with him?

Back on board :thumbsu:

My backline consists of Goddard deledio broughton grimes Hurley and then rookies. I have 60k in the bank and I'm undecided on Hurley and broughton but I really think Hurley is going to be a keeper, but I'm playing for a premiership and essondon have a bye rd 24
Any thoughts

Is anyone having second thoughts on Ottens? I'm yet to hear anything positive about him this pre-season...

My 'bottom 5' for my backs consist of Otten, One starting rookie, 3 bench rookies.

If both Batchelor and Duigan are named to play this thursday, I'm going to lock them into two of my bench spots (I figure I don't want to gamble with not having enough players named).

This leaves may mean that there may be more rookies named to play than spots in my backline. I'm strongly considering starting someone else over Otten if there are other quality back rookies named.

Thanks, very interesting feedback, particularly from an Adelaide supporter!

So far I have taken him out of my backline...there's plenty of good cheap rookie options down back which is good.

Yeah, fair enough.

I'll probably stick with that format but was considering swapping Lids with Broughton.

Deledio has proven more durable but is he ever going to reach his potential, at least in SC terms?

not while he's playing for richmond. Still... he shts all over most other back options
