Yeah I took him out the other day, but then put him back in. Very undecided on him atm

The decision will be easier once the round 1 teams are named. I'm going to wait till then to make my choice, currently he is in my team, but Cheney, Puolopo, Smith, Martin, Faulks, Bacthelor, to name a few, could be a chance to replace him. Time will tell.

Another point about Lids (and also guys like Hodge and J. Brown) is that their 1st score they get is only going to be included in 1 price change with the 3 rolling weeks before it drops off again. So if they score low in their opening round it's only a problem if they back it up with another 2 bad scores.

I'm thinking of trading Otten up to Astbury, who is only 44k dearer, in good form and best 22 for the Tigers. And Astbury is FWD-BAC, so I can link him with McKernan.

That is almost the exact same post I was about to write. I'm actually thinking of keeping Otten and downgrading Broughton to Astbury and allowing me to upgrade in the midfield... It's time for those little fiddly selections now. I just can't wait for round 1 teams to be released, finalising the side then get crackin!!

Is anyone having second thoughts on Ottens? I'm yet to hear anything positive about him this pre-season...

i think for his price he is worth the punt
have selected heath shaw even though his inconsistency burnt me last year, but in a top 4, or top 2, team, should be able to shake a tag with the quality around him. Thoughts?

It kind of depends where he is played. I don't think he was used very effectively throughout the 2010 season and I don't even think he played that well. Considering he still averaged 90 he's a decent pick. He's probably more of a better pick if you're going for overall because like it's been pointed out a lot of times, he isn't consistent, although he is generally a strong finisher. I can see him increasing his average but not by a huge amount.

Will Cheney play tho, i had him after he scorched them in the NAB cup last year or was it year before and he struggled to get a consitent game...was with Melbourne at the time tho.

Definitely considering Bruce he is in my starting team at the moment. I can see him holding a similar average to last year which should put him in the top 10 for backs. Runs all day and may see some time through the middle as well. Durable player also.

You know Adelaide share the bye with Freo and Melb? So really that rules out Johncock if you were wanting to avoid that situation.

I haven't had Otten at any stage but I don't really see Craig stating the obvious re sub makes for such a big change in opinion. I'm sure Heppell, Hibberd, Toy etc will be subs at some stage as well. Clubs won't use the same sub every week because the player in question will lose match conditioning.
