Everybody is worried about catching it. What about the cleaners, retail workers, healthcare workers, etc. People who have to catch public transport.

I'm not going to get time off unless someone who works very close to me has it and even then it'll only be 2 weeks.

How come there has been 0 talk of any overseas sport at all going broke but Aussie leagues facing massive trouble at the prospect of just a month or so of no games?? Are we just that poorly run?? Where are we overspending? Noticed that the NRL spent most of their "future fund" in 2017 to make a new website or digital strategy or something, great move there.

Are you really wondering why the AFL doesn't have as much money as the NBA, EPL, etc.?

The NBA had played between 63 and 65 games in their current season. The EPL I believe is also well into their season. And therefore already been payed a good percentage of their tv rights deals.
The AFL and NRL haven’t even started.
And haven’t been payed a cent and facing a reality of getting nothing if the season is fully cancelled, you do the Math.

State leagues will be a bit harder to control given the players have day jobs

One I find interesting is schools. They say there is little risk to the students and would be a large burden on the heath system and economy in general to close them. No one mentions the teachers and other ancillary staff. The cohort of teachers is an ageing demographic and don't seem to rate a mention as to how these know virus super spreaders (children) will threaten their well being?

I think the govt is trying to keep people in work.....i.e if schools closed, a lot of parents would have to leave their jobs to be home to look after the kids as well as teachers out of a job etc.

Teachers wouldn't be out of work - it would just be an extended term 1 break.

Not sure there will be any early rounds?
Cant imagine there will be any footy in the next month at least.
I think our only hope is a few early rounds. There will be nothing later in the season when the virus takes full hold. And the season wont resume until there are no cases in Aust.

The prospect of no crowds at games is so intriguing.

Like, it removes a massive advantage of big victorian clubs at the G. If they no longer have their 50-60,000 crowd mostly cheering in their favour, that levels the playing field (so to speak) for a lot of interstate teams.
