Just need to lose Gerard Healy so half the players in our team aren't Charlie Gardiner or Daniel Zorko.
He had a shocking call in the game against Carlton.
I am pretty sure I heard I him call Devon Robertson, Seb Robertson too at one point?
Buffoon!

The prospect of no crowds at games is so intriguing.

Like, it removes a massive advantage of big victorian clubs at the G. If they no longer have their 50-60,000 crowd mostly cheering in their favour, that levels the playing field (so to speak) for a lot of interstate teams.

I’m not advocating for any games but out of curiosity I’d love to see one game with big teams at the g.

I think our only hope is a few early rounds. There will be nothing later in the season when the virus takes full hold. And the season wont resume until there are no cases in Aust.
That will likely mean there will be no more footy in perpetuity..... Richmond the last ever AFL premiers.

We will have to get used to no flesh and blood sport at all and get excited by Esports.... yuk.

Ok I have a plan (mind you so did Custer),

to the complete the season in 22 days.

It’s called, AFLX!

Two ten min halves, 2 min break and three mins to gtfo the ground at the end of the match = 15min

9 games per day = 2hr 15min (plus TV adds) 6 hr.

17 days means everyone plays each other once.

1 day Qualifying/elimination finals = 1hr (plus TV adds) 6hr

1 day Semis = 30min (plus TV adds) 6hr

1 day Prelims = 30min (plus TV adds) 6hr

1 day for brownlow (decided by rock-paper-sissors knockout) 6 hr (plus TV adds) 12hr

1 GF = 15m (plus TV adds) 6hr

Ta daa

Robinson admits it's not an ideal situation for anyone, but he'd much rather play in front of no one, than not play at all.

"We've just done a gruelling pre-season and as a player I couldn't imagine waiting another four weeks until that ban is uplifted," Robinson said.

The past seven days have been bizarre for Robinson and his teammates.

The Lions played Carlton in a Marsh Community Series game in front of fans as normal, but on Tuesday they headed to a Victorian family day where thousands of fans crammed onto an indoor basketball court.

At that stage, the Lions had told their players to use hand sanitiser and shaking hands was fine.

It started to turn from being vigilant to a "real thing" for Robinson once Brisbane's general manager of football David Noble sat the playing group down to discuss some rules and regulations ahead of the four-day break the players were set to have.

Robinson had planned to head to the Australian Grand Prix, which was then called off.

Players were also told to avoid heading to festivals or nightclubs.

AFL to decide within the next 24hrs whether to cancel the season. With Vic and WA calling a state of emergency, its not looking good for the season.

Yeah, it would just be surreal. I would expect the ground mics would pick up a LOT of on field chatter between players too. In a way it would be incredibly insightful.

Estimates suggest AFL clubs will average a loss of $1 million per home game

It says the clubs will seek assistance from the AFL to cover losses but the AFL won't have any money

Gil has a press conference at 5:30 AEDT

You'd assume they're suspending the season.

Outside chance they're cramming in games starting next week

The AFL wishes to advise that following a meeting with AFL State CEOs a collective decision has been made to postpone the operation and / or the commencement of each premier State League and national and state talent program across the country.

The decision was collectively agreed upon based on the part-time nature of these competitions and the financial implications for the State League clubs and State Leagues.

This decision is effective until May 31.

The AFL will continue to explore all fixturing alternatives to ensure matches are played, however, acknowledges the situation is fluid and any decision made may change.

17 rounds; play each team once (no info on changes to fixture)

Haven't made a call about this weekend

Seems a sensible move given it provides 9 spare weeks to adjust the fixture. Given things are only going to get more severe after this weekend you'd think they might try to get through the round one weeks to maximise flexibility going forward
