Welcome to a new season of qooty. This one's a bit different, as season 37 marks the 20th season that Coney Island have been in the SFA so instead of my regular Know Your Opponents segment I'm running with something to help us know more about ourselves. So here is 'This Round In Warriors History', where I take a look back over the past 19 seasons and bring back some fond memories (or not so fond memories idk I'm not your shrink). And for round one, we're gonna go back to season 26.

We came into season 26 off the back of an underwhelming previous campaign. Frankston Rover reclaimed the captaincy from Wosh, the reigning EKA winner in BLERN was poached (spoiler alert: the EKA curse struck a season later) and a young lad by the name of TheInjuryFactory was signed as a rookie.

The opening round saw us at home to the Dragons - preliminary finalists the previous season and already something of a rival - who were coming off a three game winning steak against us (sound familiar??). The match thread was opened by former Warrior dav (RIP in pieces) and the match itself was posted by another former Warrior in NaturalDisaster (back when he did stuff). It's interesting to go back through the thread which highlighted the style of banter that we were known for back then. The team also had no less than seven current Wazzas playing - Raveneyes Lord_Flashheart TheInjuryFactory Moo zackah Freofalcon & Frankston Rover . And today I learned that Pugsley was a Dragon.

But to the match itself, and the reason that I've aimed the spotlight on it. dank420_ kicked a point in the first 22 seconds of the match, and we led ever since. By 34 points at the first break, 74 points at the big one, 93 by three quarter time, and saluting at the final siren to the magnificent tune of 112 points, with the final score being Coney Island 23.13 (151) to Drags 6.3 (39)! This was the equal 12th highest score in our history along with the second lowest conceded score, the second biggest win and the equal 10th most scoring shots.

In terms of individual performances, we had six (6) players reach triple figures in DT points - CM9000 (122), zackah & candiehappy (106 each), Itsmyshow (102), Frankston Rover (101) and Freofalcon (100). BigJoeD_ ran riot with six goals, and the debut performance from TheInjuryFactory as a skinny flanker was also noteworthy (27 disposals & 7 marks).

Of course with every action there's an equal and opposite reaction, so after this drubbing we inflicted we've been simhoused into an inconceivable run of results against the lizard people, but for now we fondly remember This Round In Warriors History.​
