Review Semi Final, 2022 - Melbourne vs. Brisbane Lions

Without sounding too presumptuous I thought we'd win at half time.

Melbourne have coughed it up like this a few times this year. They didn't bury us when they had the chance and that was it.

But without Berry and Neale who were both supreme in the last half we couldn't have done it.

I was amazed at how Fort was able to take Gawn on and keep going . Is Oscar better ?

In the past two weeks we have eliminated the past two Premiers and the two teams that have monstered us in recent years. I fear no one left like I did those two, therefore…

Hipwood has come of age in the last few games. He will never be the monster forward but he has shown an ability to get to good positions and scrap and fight and do little taps and make tackles that have an effect. He made a difference tonight and kept one of the tall defenders honest.

Fullarton, thrown in late, worked hard and got better as the game went on. That would have been an incredible psychological challenge to prepare at short notice for that game in that atmosphere. He probably started poorly but by the end was beginning to show that he can step up.

Dev and Wilmot clearly belong at this level - will get better and better.

When Kiddy has the ball there seems an instinctive lift in our urgency. He could really develop into a special player over the next season or two.

Berry - really grew before our eyes tonight.

But if Collingwood get knocked out tomorrow we won't get a chance to beat them again in a grand final!

Yeah Gawn went off for quite a while at one stage and couldn't seem to jump in the last half.

On SEN this morning, they were discussing how the team who finishes first in the H &A season doesn't really get any advantage out of it anymore.

That in itself is a reasonable point but then David King came out with this pearler

"How unfair is it on Geelong that they got Collingwood at THEIR home ground last week and NEXT WEEK THEY WILL HAVE TO PLAY MELBOURNE ON THEIR HOME GROUND (and so had assumed the Lions certain losers).

Next time he's on, I'm giving him a call to ask him did he hear the news that the Lions decided NOT to forfeit and did he hear about the actual result of the game?

wow! i'm very much an optimist, but I thought we'd have to get it done without reaching the heights of sydney.

full credit to all the players. solidifying my belief that we've really been focused on getting everything working smoothly for finals all year.

Just watched the highlights, and have to agree with others here, the Melbourne contingent absolutely did us proud. The volume of cheering and support rivalled a home game.
I don't like Berry's chances at MRO simply because we're Brisbane. If Oliver hadn't dragged him to the deck and then driven his arm into his neck, Berry wouldn't have had to reach out to try and get him off.

My god. My two year old would not sleep so I’ve finally finished the game after multiple lengthy pauses and am absolutely pumped!!

Berry had a game for the ages!

Hipwood was insane!

When we kicked that goal on the half time bell everyone I was with thought we had a bit of momentum.

They'd thrown their best punches and had some guys who were hobbling around. We had players who hadn't raised a sweat.
