Looking at things from Northern Thailand, we appear to not be traveling all that well ATM.
Might as well suggest 1 or 2 changes at the club like everyone else.

1. We stand firm on wearing our tradition Red/Blue jumper more. Even at training.
2. Get Junior McDonald, R Flower and D Swartz back to the club in some form.
3. The time is right for G Lyon to get some grey hairs and repay the club, and coach alongside Viney, Mission, Junior and Swartz. This will get some culture/soul back into the club.
4. Get/trade B Mclean back.
5. Trade: Pick 2/Watts for an elite midfielder eg: S Mitchall, B Gibbs type player.
6. Trade: Sylvia/Jamar for D Presta.
7. Trade: Frawley/Picks for T Adams.

Looking forward to the 2nd half of the season and next year. Go Dee's.

On those points - Lyon is an inexperienced coach at AFL level, this is exactly what we don't need. We need someone who has had success.

Surely your taking the piss with trading Brock McLean in, I don't care how much football he gets this guy single handedly has put our heads on the block with his comments on the tanking issue.

Sylvia is a free agent so we wont get much in way of compensation, and do you really think Gold Coast would trade out their pick 9 from 2010 who is in their top 4 midfielders and in super form for a guy who is 29 and although got 34 hit outs today managed 1 possession!

And I wouldn't be trading Frawley out if we can help it, he is out best defender! Adams would be a brilliant get but the whole idea is to try and keep your better players and add new talented ones otherwise we will go around in circles, we will build an awesome midfield and have a terrible back line.

Yeah, I agree that it bit early to call on Dawes and I think he could come good, fair enough to call me on that one - but it just bothers me that we traded pick 20 and 45 for him.

I try to look at our list from young guys we can look forward to seeing and there aint much, would've liked another kid in the draft. We could've tried send pick 45 with Stefan Martin to get a second round pick from the Lions instead of the junk 3rd and 4th rounders we got... or chase someone like Koby Stevens, or combine 20 + 45 for another 1st round pick... so many other options I would've liked to see.

Exactly. We should have had Darling. We should have had Nic Nat. We should have had Luke Shuey. We should have recruited Hannath over Gillies. We should have Rockliffe on our list. We should have drafted Ollie Wines. We should have been able to keep Scott Thompson. We should have been able to keep Brock McLean. We should have let Junior retire when HE wanted to. So many people need to be sacked over decisions that have blatantly cost us any chance of being a respectful club. And f*ck the whole Casey thing. Another bad decision IMO. We are the Melbourne Demons! Not the Cranbourne Demons. Cranbourne is 50km's from Melbourne! Massive growth area I know, but who in their right mind will want to follow this club from out there? Concentrate on the city centre. Get all the Uni students on board. Cheap tickets to all international students. F*ck, I'm just talking rubbish now. I'm so furious atm.

Seriously, I would sack the whole coaching panel. I'd spill the board. Sack Harrington. Gone. Either keep Jackson as CEO or get Robson. Seperate ourselves from Casey. Trade some players like Watts, Sylvia etc for good young midfielders. Get rid of Bail, Nicholson, Sellar, Gillies, Pederson, Rodan, J MacDonald, Spencer, Jamar, Davis. Go hard for Gorringe, Prestia from Gold Coast. Throw everything at Daisy Thomas and throw the kitchen sink at an experienced coach who knows what the f*ck they are doing. It's time to sweep a broom through the whole place and start again. So frustrated right now...

If Clarkson doesn't make a prelim or even a Grand Final this year I reckon it might be curtains for him. Although it would be stupid to do that as imo he is the best coach going around
He is young and would do well for the Dees just like he did for the Hawks. Looking forward to the game next Sunday

Going to be a blood bath. 4 points and huge percentage boost in the bag for you guys :thumbsu:

Remember the days we went into games at least thinking we were an outside chance to win if everything went our way??? Seems like an eternity ago.

The only person that I believe is capable of resurrecting the Dees is Alistair Clarkson. I believe you need to put a 5 year offer at 2 million dollars a season to him. It will be the richest coaching deal in AFL, but as soon as he takes over, everything changes. You'll be sure that you have the right man, and will no longer be a laughing stock.

Yep no matter how bad we have been over the journey I always used to have that 1% of irrational and unwaivering optimism that we could pull off a random great game, no matter the opposition, even last year. This year, sadly I've lost the irrational 1%, you just know what's gonna happen.

We offered him 6 in 2011 I thought

Maybe we could get lucky.. Roll the hawks by 100-150 points Clarkson will get the arse and we could pick him up for a dime.
Too much to hope for?

If that happens though Neeld will probably be safe to the end of the season and someone else will nab Clarkson.

I see what you mean, but I would much rather spend less on a head coach and spread it more evenly around the FD by basically cleaning out almost the entire department and starting again with high-quality people. We are a small club with limited finances, so hiring Clarkson on such a huge contract would possibly even do more harm than good in terms of retaining medicore staff everywhere else.

It's well known Clarkson is a big fan of Daniher's and still rates him as one of the best coaches working in the system. Is it possible Clarskson could come to the Dees and bring back Daniher with him? Lyon as President? Schwartz on the board or as an assistant coach?

Ahhh, dream land is fun. Some of this could happen though....could.

P.S. I would hope the club would be willing to pay whatever it takes to get Clarkson (should there be a chance he'd leave the Hawks). Heck, I'd pull out a big wad of cash from my own pocket to donate to the cause. I know a lot of members who would. He's one of the top 3 coaches in the league and has been for a very long time.

I think this is where the AFL would step in to 'help'. Clarkson wouldn't accept mediocrity at other levels.

That's true but what reputable, previously successful coach will come to the club for modest pay (not saying we should offer 2mil a season though)? Whoever they may be, I can only hope one G Lyon is nowhere near the recruitment team.

I'm not convinced about Choco Williams. I think he lost the Port players over his last year or two and I reckon we need someone who can get the players to fire up no matter what. Anything's better than Neeld though. He's turned a promising list - though downhill skiers - into the worst team in the modern era. I reckon you could give the tea lady carte blanche to flog them on the training track and drop players for lack of effort and she'd get more out of them than Neeld.

Okay - but give him 2 million. MM earns around 1. It will make him the highest paid coach in AFL history. He won't be able to say no to that sum of money.

Can we really afford $2 million and year when we've only just got our books balanced but are also looking at a $1.5 million operating cost for the year?

I'd love to get Clarkson but there are limits to how much money we can throw at him.

I'm not saying modest pay, because we will have to pay more than peanuts to get more than our current bunch of monkeys, but there's not much point offering a deal 3 times bigger than any other deal ever if it restricts our ability to improve the rest of the club.

In fairness to Lyon, he never wanted to be. He was forced to.

I would love him in some capacity at the club. Even as an assistant coach. Or on the board. He bleeds red and blue. At the end of the day his overall happiness comes first though, and he's apparently finally in a good place now after some tough times.

Who was that bloke on Neeld's right??? I've never seen him before. And given the fact that Todd Viney was on Neeld's left (They apparently had a run-in over recruiting and don't have much to do with each other), you'd think the club was already keeping a close eye on Neeld. Neeld spent time on the boundary line today. The communication was down between the box and the bench. Hmmm. I wonder....

His twelve steps sponsor?
The guy maintaining the suicide watch?
